You've probably heard us mention either inflammatory, hydrogenated, or industrial seed oils on this podcast before, and it's always one of the #1 places we recommend people to start when trying to clean up their diet. That's because these oils are in SO MANY food products, and many people grew up cooking with them as well because they're cheap and accessible, or were told they're the better "heart healthy" option. Unfortunately, these oils have no nutritional benefit for our bodies and actually create a whole lot of inflammation and chaos for our organs and systems. Cutting these out of our diets (to the best of our control) and switching to more stable sources of fats/oils with better omega ratios has singlehandedly improved our health - and we hope it will for you too!

**DISCLAIMER: NOT MEDICAL ADVICE** as we know ADHD symptoms can significantly impact people's quality of life and sometimes prescription medication is what's most helpful. This episode moreso aims to call out the fact that Adderall is super commonly prescribed even to people who aren't diagnosed with ADHD, and it's become more accessible and widely used for other purposes outside its original intent. Like any other health issue we talk about on this podcast, our body speaks to us in symptoms to let us know there's an imbalance - something deeper going on that requires attention and care. If you're looking for more of a long term solution to overstimulation/hyperactivity, poor focus, etc. this episode is for you!

Detoxing does not = deprivation. Any "cleanse" that immediately guarantees weight loss, instructs you to eat less, or really do anything extreme is likely not going to be a long term solution to the sub par health symptoms you're having. More often than not, our bodies just need a simple reset rather than a full blown intense detox, unless you're working 1:1 with a practitioner who is recommending something based on testing (i.e. parasites, infections). In this episode, we explain what detoxing even means, the organs involved in our body's natural detox processes, and an example of a healthy, holistic 5 day reset that will leave you feeling replenished and energized instead of lethargic and...lowkey worse :)

Madison McMullan joins Wellness Digest to talk about her work as a Quantum Hypnotherapist, whose passion is to help her clients see their true potential so they can heal themselves. She does this through a type of hypnotherapy called past life regression, where she helps people enter their subconscious mind to access not only their soul's past life, but also their self limiting beliefs, trapped emotions, and traumas. Sounds crazy - but you've gotta tune into this episode to hear just how freaking cool Madison's work is. Through her work, she's seen hypnotherapy help with addiction, childhood trauma, perfectionism, physical ailments, and more!

Throwing it back to our VERY FIRST EPISODE EVER (WTF should I be eating?) and giving it a little makeover :) Diet is often the first place people start on a health journey because eating food is the one thing we do every single day that we have a decent degree of control over. We originally did this episode because we ourselves found it really f*cking confusing when it came to nutrition, what to eat for optimal health, and what to generally avoid. Our first episode still rings true, but it's been 2 years and we've learned a TON through both education and our own personal experiences. In this episode, we revisit the pillars of a wholesome diet and also discuss the newest important things we've learned about how to optimize health through food. This is the perfect place to begin a healing journey, or refresh and simplify a current one because we'll be the first to say it's super easy to get caught up in all the noise and info out there.

Last week on the podcast we sat down with holistic health coach Molly McKenzie, who shared with us her experience being vegan and why she ultimately decided that it was no longer working for her body. Part of our discussion included changes she saw in her health once she added animal products back in, but what we didn't dive too deep into is why or how avoiding animal products affects the body in the first place. Are we getting all the right minerals and nutrients if we exclude animal products completely? Does our body need these foods to function properly? And what if you still want to be vegan but also want to make sure you're fully meeting your body's needs?
In this health hotline, Liv goes SUPER in depth on this topic and breaks it down on a scientific level combined with patterns she's seen in her own nutritional therapy practice. This episode is for anyone who's wondering if/how animal products have a place in our diets and the best way to make sure your body is getting what it needs, regardless of what diet you may subscribe to. You may want to take notes for this one!! :)

Meet Molly - a holistic health coach and NTP in the works joins us on Wellness Digest to chat about her experience as a former vegan and how her mindset and health has shifted since then. From not consuming food cooked on the same surface as meat, to now eating meat with nearly every meal, Molly explains why she changed her mind regarding veganism and how this decision has strengthened her relationship with food and with herself. No matter what way of eating you subscribe to, a big takeaway from this episode is that we should all be evaluating our WHY with food, since it's something we consume multiple times a day and has a profound impact on our health, the environment, and our mental well being.
Follow Molly on Instagram and stay tuned for her new e-book!

While the holidays are meant to be joyful, relaxing, and carefree, it's actually often the time of year where our bodies are the MOST stressed out. With lots of social gatherings comes more energy exchange, less sleep, foods we don't normally eat, alcohol, etc. and even when spent with the most loved people in our lives, it can leave our bodies and minds depleted because it's just not how we live our lives the majority of the year! In this episode, we give our tips for having a balanced, guilt-free holiday season with lots of ways to give your body some extra support as needed so you can start the New Year off on the right foot in whatever way that looks like for you!

Conventional, organic, pasture-raised, regenerative... what the heck is the difference? And what does it tell you about the way your food was grown or raised? And then once you know this info, how do you distinguish between the different types at the store or at your local farmers market? It can all be really confusing and labels aren't always the most helpful, so Tatum is giving us the run down on farming systems, food sourcing, and why she thinks regenerative is the way to go. This episode also dives into agriculture's impact on climate change and how going regenerative can contribute to the reversal of global warming as well as increase connection to your food and the food system.

After being in the fitness industry for years, Illie (@healthillie) realized that counting her calories/macros, taking all the fitness supplements and playing into "everything in moderation" was no longer serving her. She was suffering from chronic migraines, hormonal acne, terrible bloating after every meal, heavy painful periods, eczema, you name it, and being ignored by doctors and specialists who told her that her blood work was normal and her diet was fine - we've been there once too! Illie felt like she hit a wall with her health, took matters into her own hands, and started doing her own research on ingredients and corruption within the food/fitness industries. What she found completely changed her outlook on health and led her to create a platform for exposing the ugly truths about how our food and everyday products are making us sick. She's now made it her life's mission to share this information with others so that we can all make informed decisions as consumers and take power back over our own health.
You can shop Illie's store HERE where all of the products she sells have been vetted by Illie herself and held to high standards when it comes to what's actually clean and what's not.

POV: it's somewhere around Fall of 5th grade year, you just finished your first sex ed class, and you're scared to death. If you look at a boy, you'll get pregnant and your life will be over. When you get your period, everything will change and you'll never be the same again.
Unfortunately, pretty much nothing we learned about our bodies as women, how they function, and how to take care of them came from sex ed. It wasn't until we were in our 20s that we truly understood how pregnancy works, what a healthy period is supposed to be like, and how our hormones actually function. Thus, we present to you - a Wellness Digest sex ed redo :)
