Facelifts are increasingly popular. But they are not without risk. Minor or even major bleeding can occur after this procedure. Plastic surgeons have used drains, tight dressings and tranexamic acid have been used to control bleeding but the most important factor (other than good surgical technique) is excellent blood pressure control - during and after the procedure. On this show, we discuss the methods plastic surgeons use to control bleeding with facelift surgery. We also discussed the multitude of procedures that have been developed to make aging ears look better.

As a plastic surgeon, I am asked to look at and biopsy various skin "lesions". They're obvious to you and me and most people are anxious to have these removed. But what about all those "things" that lurk inside your body. Cancers, malformations, cholesterol plaques and expanding arteries can all kill you. Prenuvo is an MRI company that specializes in "preventive MRIs" that let you know about things inside your body that might impact your health in upcoming years. Dr. Perry had this scan earlier in the week and he sat down with the radiologist to discuss the surprising things that were found inside his own body... Tune in .

Hyaluronic acid filler is so versatile - it is used to fill wrinkles, plump folds, augment lips, make chins and cheeks larger, and so much more. And when you're 40 or 50, it really can stall the need for a facelift. But eventually, years of filler may give you the "overfilled" look and have diminishing benefits. And that may mean it's time for a facelift. On this program, cohost Susan Warner and Dr. Perry discuss when it's time for a facelift and when filler no longer is helpful.

There are dozens of different facelifts that are performed by different plastic surgeons. Some lift only the skin, most are the two layered "SMAS" lifts, but in vogue are the "deep plane" lifts. The question is whether the riskier deep plane lift is any better than the more popular SMAS lift. On this show, we answer this question. And we also discuss how lips are made bigger and more beautiful, without the "duck lips" look.

As a plastic surgeon, I love to operate. Helping people look and feel better is a honor. But I met a pig at the Ross Mill Pig Farm in Pennsylvania who was "fat blind". Popo lost 100 pounds and had excess skin covering his eyes. And that made him unhappy. So, I designed an operation to remove the skin from Popo's head- I actually did a brow lift, a facelift, and a rhinoplasty...on a pig! On this show, I describe this unique surgery. And then we segue into rhinoplasties in actual humans...which is the majority of my unusual practice!

Lidocaine is so safe - but it's now "over the counter" in a 4% concentration. But companies are putting as much as 10% lidocaine in products and selling them online. The FDA just issued warning letters to 6 companies that are selling illegal lidocaine products. On today's show, we talk about the dangers of lidocaine and the dangers of hyaluronidase. We also discuss when filler is too much and when it is time to perform a facelift instead of more filler.
