We have arrived at our destination, having had many learnings along this wondrous and expanding journey. The final episode of 'Where the needle lands', an Idiro Analytics podcast series, asks you our listener, "Where does your needle land now that you are more informed and thought provoked by our guests who are industry leading lights?" Having achieved the #1 spot often was worthy of back clapping but the real triumph and satisfaction came in the form of observing listeners opening up to a discussion on the impact of technology, AI and the possible future of technology in all our respective lives and our own responsibility in the evolution of tech user experience. ‘Where the needle lands’ set out to make the tech discussion more accessible to all and therefore debatable and idea processing. Achieving that and getting the channels of communication open and flowing was a reward in and of itself. We would like to express our gratitude to Idiro Analytics for their constant support. A huge thank you to all our guests, each of our followers and listeners for contributing to the podcast's great success, covering topics such as taking responsibility, team playing, leadership, purpose, digital transformation, 5G, data privacy and sovereignty, sustainability, DE&I, data sharing and AI ethics. When listening to this episode, which is a compilation of quotations from each and everyone of our guests, with the resulting juxtaposition of mind sets and varying perspectives, will allow you to sum up for yourself, where your needle has landed on your map! Enjoy and thank you. Padraic White, former MD of IDA Ireland, the agency dealing with foreign direct investment, speaks with us colourfully on the hows and the whys of the global tax reform, the new corporate tax regime and how Ireland played a leading and pivotal role in securing the alignment of the 139 OECD countries to support a global 15% corporate tax rate. The evolution of Ireland's low corp tax regime is covered by giving a social historical account of a 1950s Ireland at 0% to 12.5% nearly 70 years on, and how it impacted and benefited the commercial and cultural landscape of Ireland to becoming and being one of the top 5 economies in the world.
While Ireland's competitive and envy-inducing success in having a low corporate tax is a tool to maintain and continue to encourage FDI, however, our ever evolving and enriched 'People' of Ireland are a super pull in itself. “People are to Ireland, what Champagne is to France and oil to Texas”. A very succinct and dot-joining episode on all the recent tax related media making headlines, covering corp tax rates, tax havens, Apple and all that money sitting in the escrow orchard, to the politics at play and the power of our small nation in the global arena and its impact on Irish society and those joining our society.

In today's episode, we are speaking with John Walsh, CTO of Fujitsu Ireland, where they promote a Human Centric Intelligent Society, meaning the key emphasis being that people are placed first and then the technology design. We learn how the Japanese company has its particular approach to doing business. John also talks of how an optimised integration approach is the force that enables tech companies to leverage what is already available and possibly avoid needless large capital investment. What is hyperconnectivity all about and do we really need to be end to end connected as a society? And the extension of 5G to 5GE. There has never been a more exciting time in history where ICT is concerned, for eg. where large scale complex medical research can be completed in days rather than years now. As tech grads qualifications transcend all borders in the world, John gives tips on the winning formula for employee retention and the traits he looks for in the workplace and ‘diversity of mindsets’ being one, because “When the only tool that you have is a hammer - every problem looks like a nail."

This episode will bring you on the whistle stop tour of this CEO’s career to date, while nailing exactly what 'Digital transformation' is about, by exploring; digitisation, digitalisation and digital transformation. Gary’s engaging and educator-like journey spans from how the use of data brings more value, be it to universities, infrastructure, all the way to 'mobility-as-a-service'. COVID dispersion necessitates additional considerations and we discuss hidden diversity, unconscious bias and conscious inclusion. Adaptive leadership can help to get the psychosocial elements right for the future working hybrid maintaining team spirit. The need to re-invent rather than simply replace water cooler interactions, is a prerequisite for a "sustainable normal" after Covid.

‘Gallagher’s Boxty House’ owner, restaurateur, brewer, former Restaurant Association President Pádraic Óg Gallagher bring Geraldine and Mahima through the changes of his beloved restaurant industry and the many challenges already overcome. Pre-covid, restaurants were facing decreasing margins, increasing regulations and escalating costs of doing business. What now after lock-down? Plus what post-Covid restaurants will look like and the profile of the new dining set? Are cloud kitchens, with the newly formed consumer behaviour dictating ‘how’ we will dine and ‘what’? We discuss how technology via delivery service apps; UBER, Just-eat, Lynk and Deliveroo are gaining a stronger foothold in the industry, which is carving out the new face(less) of what is meant by restaurant ‘service’. Can restaurants continue doing something they truly enjoy, cater to their customers changing expectations and make money?

Geraldine and Mahima talk with Aidan Connolly founder and CEO of Idiro Analytics and Fin Murphy founder and CEO of TheStartup.com about advanced analytics in customer experience, the analysis of the customer journey and who is really driving this journey, brands or consumers? Aidan developed 'Intervention Vault' for Vodafone 20 years ago, enabling customer service agents to retain or prevent churn with 'Next Best Activity' (NBA), a platform for the ultimate positive CRM system. Aidan went on to start up Idiro Analytics, now a multiple award winning advanced analytics company nationally and internationally, in business over 15 years. As an example of innovative CX processes, since Covid-19 lockdown, Idiro's team has been busy assisting their B2B customers to run 'Predictive NPS' (Net promoter score), as contact with end user customers has changed utterly. We ask some hard questions to reveal general brands motivation behind 'Customer Analytics' . Aidan talks about the potential damage of so called 'data filtering' being data discrimination in truth for some cases. The need for ethical processes and how Idiro Analytics also help their customers to use analytics ethically. Finally, how people generally don't understand the consequence of data yet, and how people haven't put a value on their data, evident when they give it away for free!!!
