Women are disproportionately disadvantaged in our prison and judicial system. Incarcerated women are more likely to face sexual assault, they are often denied resources like adequate healthcare, and they are often unable to get treatment for mental illness. Today’s conversation is a glimpse into an issue that doesn’t often make headlines.
Rev. Sharon White-Harrigan and Guisela Marroquín, our guests today, are experts on this issue. The New York Women’s Foundation has funded the Women’s Community Justice Association for years and the two-work side by side to protect women and create change. Hopefully YOU are changed by what you hear and want to help restore our communities and support the changes we need to see in our justice system to create fair, just, and equitable alternatives to incarceration.

Red Rover, Will Anyone come over? A sexual assault survivor’s point of view.
CONTENT WARNING
One in 5 women experience sexual assault. Every 68 seconds an American is being raped. Approximately 70% of rape or sexual assault victims experience moderate to severe distress, a larger percentage than for any other violent crime. How do we recover from this trauma? Trauma that bleeds into all aspects of our lives. Our song, Red Rover reveals a woman’s painful life long journey of coming terms with the shame, guilt and body disassociation she feels as a result of being raped. “Six months for you? A Life sentence for me.” In honor of sexual assault awareness month, we interview co-founder Of Paige Denim, Paige Geller Adam’s, about how she has processed the trauma of being raped and began her healing journey from surviving to thriving.

This episode is about money. Why we don't have enough of it, how we are enslaved by it, and how Power seems to be just out of reach due to it. Our latest release “Money Ho” (video here) is shining a giant light on the injustices women face around money. From equal pay to the pink tax, we are fed up with working the hardest and having the least.
Our guest this week is Carol Jenkins CEO and president of the ERA Coalition. Until women are equal under the constitution, we don’t stand a chance at having equal pay. Sound the alarm, this is a wake-up call ladies, it’s time to demand equality and finally pass the ERA.

Ego says "once everything falls into place , I'll feel peace." Spirit says "find your peace, and then everything will fall into place" - Marianne Williamson
We attempt to answer the age old question “Why is it so hard living in a first problem world?” Our new single American Girl is out, and in honor of Women's History Month, we dive into the tropes commonly associated with being a woman in America, including the cyclical problem of wanting more, getting more, and feeling sad when the golden handcuffs keep getting tighter.
Our guest is Marianne Williamson -- an author, spiritual leader, political candidate, and activist. She has written 13 books, including four New York Times number one bestsellers. Learn more by visiting marianne.com.
