  • Young Opportunist Insights are a collection of our favourite moments from previous conversations we've had on this podcast.

In this insight, Ryan Fisher (founder of FisherTM) talks about his personal experience of seeking happiness and how he found the concept of harmony more achievable than constant happiness. He shares his visit to a psychologist who asked him to list things that are good and bad for him and narrow it down to nine things that he should live by.

He states that by focusing on these simple things daily, which create harmony in life, it can increase the chance of experiencing happy moments. If the path to sustained happiness is to maintain a life of harmony, it can be difficult with constant distractions and temptations around. Like anything, it's easy to veer away from your goals.

Happiness is a fleeting feeling that comes and goes, and instead, we should strive for harmony in life

  • In this week's episode we had the privilege of talking to Tom and Luke, two of the Barbell Foods founders.

Barbell Foods was founded by four best mates in their early twenties from a shared passion for health, movement and the outdoors. This was the perfect opportunity to create a healthy source of protein to fuel their adventures.

Every business starts somewhere, and their start involved some hard yakka man labor. Marinating kilos of steak in a small, rented kitchen, drying it in the pantry, and finally cutting each steak by hand.

    In this episode we cover:

Advice for young founders with big dreams and empty pockets; How you can best transition from your 9-5 corporate job into entrepreneurship;Advice on how to take action on that business idea you’ve had in the back of your mind; Why having audacity when your just starting out is so important; andWhy raising capital might be the very thing you need to get your company to the next level.

  • We are back with another BTYO episode and we are talking about a concept that Jaemin Frazer originally talked about on his podcast The Insecurity Project - Episode 245 (links below). Jaemin talks about the idea of gamifying your life - we explain why this is such a powerful concept in this episode!

In our interview with Jaemin (episode 4) we talked about why the use of metaphors are so important, more specifically how metaphors are the language of the unconscious mind. The reason why understanding the unconscious mind matters so much is because often it is the very thing that holds us back in life.

    Here are the links discussed:

  • Today’s episode is all about the basics of investing and personal-finance. We will be discussing practical investing tips and money habits that you can implement today - like quite literally when you get home from work!

Best things about these tips are that they require zero experience or knowledge about finance and the stock market! The second best thing about these tips is that you can sit down at home tonight and implement them right away. We highly recommend you do these as soon as possible!

    We discuss:

Four simple tips and tricks to get you saving more and start investingWhy automating your finances will change your lifeWhat value-based spending is and why it will improve both your well-being and financial situationBest low cost stock brokeragesAn investing strategy that to many people ignore.

We also discuss why podcasting has changed our life's, including why it has set us on a new trajectory for the rest of our lives - it relates to the following quote from our discussion with Owen Rask:

“One of the things you don’t have when you're younger is money, but you have time; time gives you the opportunity to learn. But there will become a time when you don't have time, but you have money. So educate yourself while you're young so you have the tools to invest when you have money."
