This is a very open, honest, and captivating conversation with one of football’s most gifted players. Oisín McConville has won several Ulster titles, All Ireland medals, and a national league title. He became Ulster football’s top scorer and was awarded two All-Stars during his career. But while he was enjoying incredible success on the pitch, Oisin’s personal life was spiralling out of control. A gambling addiction saw him run up massive debts, fall out with friends and family, and have suicidal thoughts. In this episode of The Mario Rosenstock podcast, Oisin opens up about his love (and hate) for football, how he overcame a destructive gambling addiction, and he tells me the fascinating history of Crossmaglen and how the British Army (inadvertently) helped his team succeed. COMEDY:The big heatwave is here and all of my podcast colleagues are talking about it, especially David McWilliams and Joanne McNally and Vogue Williams. Welcome to episode 34 with John Creedon. I'm going to call him a national treasure. Whether you grew up with Terence on The Gerry Ryan Show, listened to any of John's radio shows down through the years, enjoyed his various jaunts around Ireland on the telly or cheered him as he won reality TV show Failte Ireland, John has been in our houses and part of our lives for many years. Now he has a book out! It's called That Place We Call Home and that's why I got to chat to him on. He was pleasure to chat to, right from first email contact to final thank you email and I thoroughly enjoyed our chat. Hope you do to.

Former Leeds and League of Ireland footballer Alan Cawley joins me this week for chats about football, the loneliness of leaving home at a very young age and what exactly happened with Sligo Rovers. He has some great stories about that young Leeds United team of the late 90's, in fact I could have talked to him all day...there will have to be a part 2!
Hope you enjoy, the email as always is [email protected] or [email protected]
