The late 1980s saw UK-based bands dominate with records like Up Front, Cool & Deadly, and Premi Strikes Again. However, Punjab still had some young and hungry vocalists after the death of Chamkila, including Sardool Sikander, Hans Raj Hans, and the now-forgotten Kuldip Paras.
Although Paras never saw the success and longevity of his contemporaries mentioned above, he recorded two classic albums, Jee Karda Chuk Le Javan and Gal Mukdi Aake Daru Te, which cemented his legacy as a folk hero. -

I was never a big fan, but I loved songs like Dollar, Sohne Lagde, and Bambiha Bole.
With his death at 28 years old, I think Moosewala has become this generation's Chamkila, leaving behind a polarizing legacy and countless hit songs.

In 2015, I recorded a show focusing on my ten favourite Punjabi tracks to celebrate my thirtieth birthday. It features a little bit of Surinder Shinda, Bindrakhia, B21, and, of course, the almighty Chamkila. And there's a hint of a future mid-life crisis. -
