In our experience, nature is one of the best teachers. Too many adults and children in America spend too much time inside. People are stressed, weak and unhealthy. Going outside will fix those issues.
Looking at nature and wildlife reminds us that life does not have to be complicated and it is okay to simply exist.
1. Nature will kill you because you did not obey the rules. In reality you will kill yourself because you did not obey the rules. This lesson is important because respect is a universal language for all living things.
2. Nature will make you push yourself if you want to succeed. We discuss gardening as an example. If you don't take care of the garden, it will not take care of you.
3. Nature will force you to slow down by design. Nature is designed to slow you down and make you pay attention to your surroundings. If you don't you could end up in a bad situation.

This episode is a continuation of episode 20 "How To Be A Man When You Don't Have A Father Around". We discuss some thoughts from episode 20 and how they have inspired some new thoughts on mentorship.
When does the mentor/mentee relationship end? Some will end naturally, some will last for a season of life and others will last a life time and become true friendships. For the lifetime mentorship this will become a parent/child type relationship.
What is a mentors purpose? The mentor is there to help you develop your adult identity while helping you work through your daily tasks. Additionally, we need a mentor to see what we don't see. There are three perceptions for every person: Who we think we are, who people think we are and who we really are. A mentor will help you reveal who you really are.

A boy wants to learn how to be a man. He wants to identify with his father. He wants to protect his mother and be comforted by her.
You must be patient and allow your son to learn and grow. Do not expect him to be a man until he has had the opportunity to be a child. Give him responsibility while he is a child and help him understand why it is import to fulfill those responsibilities, but give him grace to learn that lesson.
A parents responsibility should include providing their children with and emotionally safe place to grow up.

In episode six entitled "Toys", we asked the question what is your intention when you buy your children toys? Is the intent to buy a toy that will allow you and your child to share an experience or is your intention to give them something to do in your absence. In this episode we expand on that thought with a few more observations.
First, what types of toys or entertainment are you providing for your children? Do these toys inspire creativity, provide a skill set of some type, Inspire connectivity or promote a type of healthy living? If no, why not? Play time for children is not just an escape but a formidable training ground that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. If you are only putting technology (phones, video games, screens, etc.) in front of them you are robbing them of valuable life skills.
Second, why do we think it is important for a parent to play with a child:
-Playing with your kids toys gives the parent and the child something to bond over that the child can have with them when the parent is not present.
-Stress release for the both of you. Children are masters of creative play, why not let them lead you in play time.
-Learning to communicate with each other in a fun environment. You child is a different person from you and you need to get to know who they are as a person.
-Building trust through happy moments. You are probably building trust through leading but try to build trust though joyful moments.
Playing with your children is one of the healthiest things you can do for you and your children. Go play with your kids and watch your life get better.

Are you living life for growth or are you living life for the reward? If you met your goals in life(the career, the spouse, the house, the car) and still feel like you are missing something, you could be missing the reward of the journey. Only focusing on the reward could be a form of escapism. It is important to stay in the moment and enjoy the journey so you can develop your character.

A Successful person is drawn to the challenge more than the reward.
Think of a person with regret. At one point they had control of a potentially good situation but gave the control away. They knew the situation had some risk and were too afraid of the out come. These opportunities arrive because they are apart of our destiny. Challenges and opportunities will point out your strengths and weaknesses. As these weaknesses arise you will need to accept that you must make some changes or you will live with the regret of not pursuing the opportunity to change.

Respectability is discovering who you really are. Overcoming the issues that are preventing you from being respectable will require you to remove the comforts from your life that allow you to cope with the issue. For some people it has taken years if not decades to develop these coping mechanisms so don't be surprised if it takes months or years to break the habits. You need to develop discipline to remove your comforts. The removing of comforts develops respectability because it allows you to see yourself for who you really are in that moment.

We do our best to show our kids we love them but do we actively show our children we respect them?
A man must learn to respect so he can show a woman and his children how to respect him. The man must be willing to train his family in respect and not just demand respect.
If a father shows his children how to respect, image how much more success that child will have in life.

When a man has low self esteem he does not respect himself. Respect is very important to men. Children need men around to teach them about respect.
A respectable man will do the right thing even when no one is looking. A respectable man will not let his emotions dictate his actions. You have a destiny to fulfill and no-one else can fulfill it.

What makes a man respectable? When a man is doing everything in his power to reach his full potential.
This episode is a derived from the previous episode when Ben shared his perspective regarding his parents divorce.
When a man divorces his wife it is a disrespectful act. A son will probably lose respect for his father, but a son will also stand to lose respect for himself. In this episode Ben discusses regaining respect for himself after his parents divorce. Juan discusses dealing with an abusive father and his journey towards becoming a respectable man.

The following episode is based on Ben's perspective as a child who experienced the effects of his parents divorce. All divorce situations have their own specific details that make them unique but when children are involved there are still some common things a parent can do to help their children better adapt to the situation. We do not advocate for divorce, but if it has already taken place below are a few suggestions to help your children cope with the situation.
1. Be willing to answer your Childs questions, but be respectful when talking about your former spouse. That is still your child's parent.
2. Remember that the things you once loved about your ex are the things your child still loves about your ex. You and/or your spouse chose not to love each other, but the child or children still love both of you.
3. Don't speak badly about the other parent in front of your children.
Remember that your child is suffering and the parents need to be the ultimate comforter, guide and parent to your child.

An alpha male is a man who is willing to live and die for the group they are responsible for leading.
In this episode we discuss some of the different roles a man can fulfill to be an alpha male. We also discuss how some men have the appearance of an alpha male but they really are bullies. If a man is a true alpha male, he will empower the people he is leading. If he is a bully, he will dominate them and they will eventually run away from him. Additionally we give some common examples of a beta male to help people understand the difference between a beta and a alpha male.
If you are wondering if you are a beta male in a marriage then you are, but if you aren't sure you are a beta male, here are a few signs:
1. Your wife is constantly telling you what to do and you immediately do it.
2. You give an opinion in front of your wife and she interrupts or corrects what you say almost every time.
3. You can't spend the money you make because your wife won't let you.
4. Your kids will not listen to you but they will listen to your wife.
5. The only time you feel like you have control is when you are at work.
6. Every time you make a decision you wonder how your wife will respond and usually don't do what you actually want to do.
7. You don't have plans or goals you just do what your wife wants.
8. You already know you are a beta male but read this list in hopes that it won't apply to you and now realize that it definitely applies to you.
