  • In this episode of Add To Cart, we are joined by Laura Klein, Founder and CEO of Snotty Noses, a brand that pretty much does what it says on the tin…provides a practical solution for dealing with the bucket loads of snot that the babies and toddlers in our lives seem to generate from the moment they come into our lives.  If you are not a parent or have had no experience of this phenomenon…you might want to have a look at Snotty Noses Tik Tok channel to get up to speed.  The Snotty Boss, Laura’s hero product, is a motorised nasal aspirator that niftily sucks the snot from your child’s nose at the touch of a button.  Laura’s journey has taken her from fulfilling orders at her kitchen bench to being stocked in retailers such as Terry White and Baby Bunting.  Laura shares how she made the tricky move from selling someone else’s product to manufacturing her own, her tips for successful affiliate marketing and what she learned from a recent warehouse upgrade.

About your co-host: Laura Klein from Snotty Noses

Laura began her business in 2013 from the kitchen bench. She was a full-time Mum to three kids under five and on leave from her job as a primary school teacher. Her kids had a runny nose every other week, and she had spent a fortune on snot sucking solutions that just didn’t work. She found a motorised aspirator for sale in a parenting magazine and loved it. After recommending it to all her friends, she decided she could start a business selling this product online. She bought a box of stock and the rest is history. That original model of aspirator has been retired, and Snotty Boss hit the market in March 2020.  Snotty Boss is now stocked in over 1200 stockists around Australia, and is sold all over the world via the international website (snottyboss.com)

  • We have a rule on Add to Cart, that our guests should be very much about Australia and Australian ecommerce.  Today, we’re breaking that rule…the rebels that we are…but with very good reason.  My guest is Eric Siu, Founder of growth marketing agency Single Grain, based in San Francisco.  You will also no doubt know Eric as the host of the hugely successful Marketing School and Leveling Up podcasts which have amassed over 2.1 million downloads every month.  In this chat, Eric shares the tools he uses to get maximum value out of his content, the channels he sees as the ones to watch - we talk Reddit and You Tube - and as well as breaking down programmatic SEO, he gives us his take on the future of search.

  • Did you carry a water bottle around when you were a kid? Of  course you didn’t.  Unless of course, we have some zoomers listening.  Well, times have changed and whether you prefer a fluoro Frank Green or a pastel Stanley Quencher, most people carry a water bottle these days.  My guest today has taken the hydration trend one step further, adding flavour and nutrients to the mix.  Catherine Dix is Director of Waterdrop Australia, a brand originally started in Europe that came via the US to Aussie shores just last year, selling water bottles plus a range of microdrops to encourage everyone to drink more water.  In this chat Catherine shares how she went from running an agency to running Waterdrop, why being a dealer at The Australian Open was such a good idea and how Australia Day saved the company from a warehouse catastrophe.

  • Today’s guests join me to go deep into the subject of profitability and separate the layers that hide in different areas of an ecom business.  Carla Penn-Kahn and David Kahn are co founders of Profit Peak, a SaaS tool built to give merchants true visibility on everything that contributes to profitability, all in one place, in real time.  The husband and wife team started ProfitPeak in 2022 to help them run their own ecommerce business and it soon became clear this was a solution that other founders were crying out for.  Today they work with clients such as Arms of Eve and Flora and Fauna.  In this chat, Carla and David share their insights, including the key metrics within marketing, inventory and customer that contribute to profitability.  We hear about their customer-first approach to Profit Peak’s social media presence and what the duo gained from being a part of the Blackbird Giants…that’s the mentoring programme, not a baseball team :)
