Hey Attempters. Make sure to follow us on IG and head to the website for more! Josh Thomas was my guest and he’s awesome. I actually was following him b/f we were even introduced. He started this cool dad apparel company called WASHED DADS (We Are Super Heroes Every Day) with a group of his friends who quote, “share the mission of reclaiming the narrative of Black fatherhood and poignantly countering stereotypes that depict absent Black fathers.” Love that.
But he’s not some guy who quit their job and is now rolling in cash. He is however a big man at Amazon. In fact, he’s now the highest-ranking Black operator among the company’s thousands of Global Specialty Fulfillment employees. He’s a regional director for nine of Amazon’s faster-than-same-day fulfillment centers. This guy is busy but not too busy to chat with me!
We talk about being a dad and busy businessman, how he was raised by his father and sometimes homeless, and why letting his daughter ride her bike to Target (like he did when he was a kid) had his wife questioning his sanity!

Hey Attempters! Summer is over. Kids are back in school. Your sliver of sanity will now return.
Football is back. Cooler temps. Less bugs. Man, I love Fall.
This week we have Chris Meyer. He's an author, screenwriter, lawyer, business creator of an online fitness program called Fun And Moving, owner of a funeral home...and father of three boys. Chris talks about how his life changed by coaching his son through basketball for nine years! He talks about the future of sports (NIL?!) and also how important a mentor was in his life and what motivates him to be a great father!
Make sure to check out Chris' Amazon page for all his books and follow us on IG for more dad content!

Hey Attempters! Happy Father's Day and how is your summer? We've been road tripping so follow along on my social and make sure to be following the show on IG as well!
This week we have Ro Parrish in the house. You know him if you watch NBA basketball. He’s all over the place chatting with Barkley and Shaq, hosting all type of shows related to the game on all the different Turner networks like TNT and TBS and recently has added actor to his resume with a show on BET called Games People Play.
We met when he was thinking of auditioning for The List–that was a pop culture show I was hosting in Phoenix back in 2014-2017 and we just stayed in touch.
Each of the dads I have on my show have a unique background and situation in their attempting of fatherhood and Ro is no different. He has a daughter named Jordan who is 8, and is not married. Also Jordan lives in TX but Ro is in ATL so he talks about raising a daughter in a long-distance type of way so we get into all that and it's a really fun chat with a great dad.

This week Attempting Fatherhood is Curt Storing from Dad Work. This guy I’ve termed the “professional dad.” He went from being on the brink of suicide b/c he thought his family was better off without him, to leading workshops, being a speaker and just helping other dads be better. He has some amazing advice and it’s all from personal experience. Thankfully, Curt isn't one of those self-help gurus who are 26, single and standing in front of a Lamborghini telling you how to be a better man. We talk about anger management and how he’s trying his best, just like you and me. Really honest and empowering chat with great stories and lots of takeaways!
Happy almost summer! What a great time to sub to the show so on your roadtrips, cutting the grass or going for a treadmill run you can grab some fatherhood encouragement as well!

This week, Attempting Fatherhood is Townsend Russell, creator of 100% Dad. Their whole mission is to bring wisdom and encouragement to dads all across the world. I found him on IG and noticed right away they are a different type of dad account. They don’t’ really do memes and dad jokes, etc. they really focus on practical advice and thoughts to get you…well, thinking. It’s a little bite-size post you can think about and I love that.
We talk about how Townsend started the brand, why he picked the name (spoiler…not his first choice) and about his dad who left when Townsend was 3 weeks old and how he found the positive aspects to his father that he really wants to pass on.

This week, attempting fatherhood is Ray Stoney! I met Ray when he and his family were just hanging out here in my neighborhood. We live south of GA and there is a cool community here with restaurants and stuff and he was eating icecream. We just struck up conversation when our kids starting playing together–you know how that goes.
He’s theeee chillest ice pop in the freezer. He’s an actor who tends to play law enforcement officer, detective, etc. from 9-1-1 Lonestar to voicing a role on Rami Malek’s podcast thriller to so many other shows, you’d be like “I know that guy” when you see him and remember…you can b/c the show now has a YT presence. The timing was interesting for this interview b/c he had lost his father a few months prior and also his third child was born.

This week Attempting Fatherhood is Nick Runyon. He's a former pilot, turned founder of The Archibald Project, an orphan and adoption advocacy group that focuses on the media side of information, creating stories, videos, etc. which help bring awareness to adoption and the orphan crisis.
When we were thinking of adoption, we watched one of their mini-docs which profiled a birth mom and adoptive family at the hospital over a 48-hour period and it was profound.
We talked about how "brutal" he and his wife's infertility was, how hard it can be when you are placed with three kids who don't speak your language, and the universal truth of struggling to get our kids to sleep!
Follow Archibald Project for more.

Hey Attempters, welcome to the show. It's been a fantastic season with eight wise and hilarious dads, time to reflect back on what I'm learning and hopefully, encourage you as well.
As is tradition at the end of each season, I spend an episode reflecting back on what I am learning as a dad, struggling with and how I'm growing. This season was full of interesting dads who brought alot to the table BUT there were some common themes and I've taken them to heart as I look into my own Attempting Fatherhood.
1: I need to make time for myself
2: I have to keep being who I am/what makes me, Bradley.
3: What are my family goals?

Joe Peters and his social media maven wife, Kate from Wit And Delight, didn't want kids at first, then they had two within 17 months of each other which had Joe eying the emergency exit on the plane. Thankfully, he stuck around and talks about work/life balance between all-hands dad ("I'm a dad first") and the marketing director for Vasque Footwear (a division of Red Wing).
He talks about how alot of the families he met had boring parents and he and Kate didn't want that life. One day they met a "really cool couple" that had kids too and they realized it can be done. We get into how his dad was really busy but now is very hands on with Joe's son and that possible tension, how important it is for fathers to keep doing what makes us unique and lastly his Dadvice for keeping sane.

He beat cancer, started a family, started a business and just wants you to chill out. Drew Clark is AF.
After having beating childhood cancer, California Cowboy CEO Drew Clark was told he would never be able to have children. His wife knew this when were married and they began thinking about adoption. Then one day he decided to get tested again and BOOM...he was, in fact, able to be a baby maker.
He talks about the shock to his wife, himself and someone even more surprised than both of them! He also talks about how starting a business is much like starting a family: tough, rewarding, hard to not compare to others, unsure if you can really pull it off, etc.
Drew's company California Cowboy was built around the idea of making clothes for the "after", i.e. after your hard workout, ski session, etc. The clothes feature elements like a beer pocket, conversation cards and a loop for your sunglasses. He sent me their new PCH Hoodie (I LOVE this hoodie) and Kiersten their new Wagyu fleece which is super soft thanks to the bamboo spandex material. So I can attest if you are looking for comfortable, well-designed and thought out apparel, check them out.

Dads That Cook has more than 500K followers, 250 videos and one man (and his better half) behind it all, Jason Glover.
One day Jason realized there were other dads just as passionate about cooking as he was, while also realizing (other than the grill) many men are intimidated by the kitchen so he set out to change that. From recipes to tutorials to selling shirts and big-ass knives, Dads That Cook is filling the bellies of men and making them better dads.
Personally, I'm the home chef approximately six nights a week (not to mention breakfast) and felt like having another Father chef on the show would be great! Jason talks about his love of cooking, how his family wasn't super affectionate and how both of those things are what motivated him to bring his son into the kitchen to teach, bond and love him through food.

Welcome to Season 3 and what a way to kick things off! Gotta lead with thanks. You are the reason this podcast exists so thanks for the support and, hopefully, this supports you!
With around 15 million dads (that's slightly less than every single person in NYC) connected to TheDad.com and their various social platforms, Joel Willis--Editor In Chief and founder--has alot of opportunity to connect with fathers and doesn't take that responsibility lightly.
After working as an engineer at GE for a long time, he wanted to change things up and pursue his passion Attempting Fatherhood and clearly, it's working out!
We talk about the site and how gaming has become a major part of how they connect with dad readers and how those dads are using gaming to spend more time with their kids.

It's been nearly nine weeks since the start of Season 2...wayyyy back to June 29th. So I take a few minutes to reflect on what I have personally learned after having these insightful, hilarious and vulnerable eight interviews about Fatherhood.
I talk about my Attempting, Confessing and Motivating and I think, as a Father, you'll know exactly what I mean with each of these aspects to my own parenting.

Here it is, the Mike Tyson of podcast episodes: short but very very powerful.
Season 2 is coming to a close and one of my favorite episodes is our clip show. It's the compilation of all the best snippets from my Fathers this season. If you only listen to one episode this season, make it this one...then go back and listen to these dads in full.
