Why is Sammi just as sweet and funny IRL as I had hoped she’d be? Sometimes people have a social media/internet persona (which I totally get because it’s marketing), but with Sammi aka SJ Sylvis, what you see is what you get and I am OBSESSED. Although she is known for writing some angsty, dark, and occasionally unhinged romance, you would never know it from chatting with her. I loved learning more about how she goes from these good vibes to getting in her writing zone, why we love a novella, the balance between being a mom, a writer, and a reader, and our love for academy/university/high school-set romances. It’s entirely unsurprising that two school-loving dorks really go hard for school romances. 🤣We also talked about the business of being a writer, what led her to taking on this career, and the hilarious start to one of her previous ill-fated career paths. Giana recently released her first sapphic romance, a Medusa retelling called Serpentine Valentine. As she’s known for, this is definitely a dark romance, but there’s so much heart and a true HEA for our dynamic duo. After reading this, I couldn’t wait to hear more about her favorite females of Greek myth and we uncovered the origins of some other characters in this book as well as discussed the sad reality that the scenarios from Medusa’s origin story fit in today’s world just as easily.

One of my favorite things is finding new indie romance authors to fangirl over (what a surprise, I know) and Kristen Proby is the real deal! Her latest small town romance series is such a labor of love because it’s set in her home state of Montana. You can feel her passion for Montana all over this book, from the ranch to the town, the mountains and the wildlife, and we can feel Rem and Erin’s passion for one another, too. 😉

Sarah is an amazing author who combined two of my favorite things in one amazing series: hockey and omegaverse! Not only are her stories fantastic, but she has the most enthralling audiobooks that you can lose yourself in for hours. Sarah has a huge obsession with Dramione FanFics. I’ve heard so many people rave about them that I thought Sarah would be the perfect person to do a deep dive with! Through our conversation we discovered her true opinion on Harry, her love of slow burn tension, Arizona iced tea cans, and the knotty Dramione FanFic that surprised me!

Talking with Sara is literally always a delight. She’s so warm and kind and funny as hell. Beyond all of that, she’s really serious about the worlds she creates and her characters and is deliberate in how she meshes fictional romance with real life challenges and doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff. Still her books always keep me laughing and swooning all the way through.
Sara and I bonded on my previous iteration of this podcast when we fangirled over the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe for those non-nerds out there) and I loved the way she said they inspired how she approaches her writing. I knew there was more there to be uncovered so we decided to dig in and discuss her top 5 favorite Marvel movies.

In going through and reposting my backlist of episodes here, I got to listen again and remember how much I love chatting with Kat. Kat Singleton is best known for her BookTok bestseller Black Ties and White Lies and her most recent Sutten Mountain Series. She’s truly as bubbly and sweet as she seems and honestly is just a down to earth cool chick.
If you don’t know, her first series was the Mixtape Series, a pop star romance, so music is so close to her heart. Getting to dive into her mind and hear about how music influences her life and writing was fascinating.
