Dear podcast friends,
Thank you so much for listening to my episodes over the past four months. I really appreciate each and every one of you, and hope that my content has been helpful.
After some reflecting, I've decided to stop actively recording my podcast so I can focus on YouTube. I hope to come back with a vengeance one day, but in the meantime, I am practicing learning my limits and trying to focus on doing a few things well rather than spread myself too thin.
I'm going to end with an episode (starts at the 8:38 mark) called Put Yourself First that I filmed on YouTube.
Thank you so much!
Mandy

In this episode, I talk about embracing having a beginner's mind. And how to create systems that actually support you in the ups and downs, and support you to keep showing up.

This week, we take a reader question from Sara in Chicago:
Dear Mandy,
I've been at my current job for 4 years. I have wanted to leave for 3 years. Staying has always been the easier option, I have so much flexibility and creative control, but my workplace is toxic and every year I have less and less consistent staff to manage the workload. I currently do the job of 3 different roles in one position, and am not paid enough for the amount that I do. The quality of work that I am able to do decreases everyday, along with my motivation.
I am turning 30 and I have decided I cannot let myself delay any longer, but now I am TERRIFIED that I stayed too long. My peers have never stayed longer than 2 years at a position and people keep telling me that it looks bad on my resume to have stayed for 4 years. Now i feel even more pressure to leave before the year is up but I haven't found a new position.
All I see is people saying the job market is terrible and that getting a new job could take almost a year. Ineed an income to fall back on, but i am afraid the longer I stay at this job the less hirable I am becoming, which is creating a feedback loop of making me even more scared to quit. I also have an extreme sense of guilt about leaving my boss with no one to fill my role, as a lot of the company's function depends on me.
Am I putting too much pressure on myself to leave before the year ends? Or am I right in thinking that staying in this job is hindering my ability to move forward?

If you’re thinking about starting a coaching business, or just curious about the process, this episode gives you the honest truth about what to expect. Thank you so much for listening.

Today, we answer the question "but what if I have golden handcuffs, and I'll never be able to find the same salary in a different job?" The truth is, you're unhappy at work and know that you need to leave, but the pain of leaving money on the table (aka the economic theory of loss aversion) is keeping you stuck!
This is also related to scarcity mindset, and the feeling that you only have one chance to get it right. This is bullshit though, and companies intentionally set it up so that you feel the pain if you leave. But your freedom is on the other side of hard. So look outside your current situation and start to build different options for yourself, to minimize the feeling of pain.

In 2024, I set my mind to growing my social media channels. In less than 9 months, I grew my TikTok channel organically (with NO ads or paid promotions) from 10,000 to 65,000 followers. My goal is to get to 100,000 followers by early next year.
I started at ZERO. I have no connections. I just worked hard and showed up. I'm a regular person. If I can do it, you can, too. If you’re a creative that says to themselves, I’m really good - but no one knows I exist, and you find the idea of self promotion and getting into social media totally overwhelming - then this video is for you.
Growing on TikTok is so much about reclaiming your voice and being authentically you. In this video, I’m going to share tips of how to master your mindset and grow exponentially.

are you feeling lost in life, and not sure what direction you should go in? are you a multi-passionate person who has many talents and not sure what you should do next? then, this episode is for you!
Approach #1: You might have to break shit Make a list of all the crazy ideas that you have Little pop pop ideas on the page Growth isn’t linear. You just have to start trying stuff and then along the way, different pathways will break open. Give yourself permission to be messy.
Approach #2: Mastery What do you want to gain mastery over? Ask yourself, from a longevity perspective, what is something that you could imagine doing for a long time? This is not about your regular compensation. This is about – over the course of my career – what do I think I will still likely give a shit about in 5 years, 10 years. If you are doing it “just for the money” it will not work. All work is a grind, even if it’s your “dream job” it’s still going to have dark days. What is a skill that you can grow with? You know how they say the best marriages are ones where you can grow together? Same idea.
Approach #3: Trust Trust your inner creative The shadow is the seat of creativity is based on the concept of the shadow as a part of the unconscious mind that contains repressed parts of the self We hide the shadow; the judgemental, the aggressive, the spiteful, the vengeful, the jealous parts of ourselves. We want to be calm and likeable and sweet. The shadow is also the part of you that can’t lie. And what is creativity if not honesty? So we must honor the ideas that come from inside of us; they are a gift. You have to be in relationship with it. If you get an idea, but then you don’t do anything about it – it dies. It goes somewhere else to be born. It will stop trusting you. So you have to start building that trust and taking the risks.

The totally honest story of how I'm trying to finish my manuscript, and how I got from 0 to 60,000 words, barely alive, kicking and screaming. In this episode, I share all of my unhinged tips and ways that I tricked myself into writing.
Great for: writers, creatives, artists who are trying to connect with their art and actually develop a trustworthy practice to engage with it.

If you are an artist, you will be compelled to create. You'll want to write even if you're a terrible writer. You'll want to make projects even if no one "gets" them or no one cares. In today's episode, we talk about why it's importnat keep making your art, even if no one notices at first.

After reading Julia Cameron's seminole work on awakening your inner artist, I took charge of my health, started Crossfit, got a book deal, and grew my business 3x. For any creative or entrepreneur, this was a game-changer for me.

In this episode, we explore why this is a never ending, insatiable question -- and instead offer some ways to help accept ourselves as whole and flawed. Self love, friends!
