    ================This Week's Scripture:// John 4:4–14 //So [Jesus] came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.

    When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?" (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

    The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?" (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

    Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."

    "Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?"

    Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

    Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

  • As we reflect on our role in caring for creation, let’s remember the profound words from Genesis 2:15: “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” Indeed, we are witnessing the need for Christian stewardship more than ever as pressing issues like air pollution, plastic waste, and biodiversity loss are impacting our beloved city. The recent climate reports remind us that we must act now to protect our environment for future generations. Let us continue moving on this journey of creation care as we strive to live in harmony with nature and fulfil our responsibility to protect God's creation.

  • Last month, Hong Kong celebrated National Ecology Day 2024, so it is also good for us to reflect on how God has called us to be stewards of His creation. Creation care goes beyond just planting trees of course—it's about living in harmony with the world that God has entrusted to us. In the face of pressing environmental challenges like climate change and pollution, we have a responsibility to make choices that honour God's creation. Let us also be inspired to put our faith into action. We are God's masterpieces, created to do good works that make a difference in caring for His world.

  • In the midst of Hong Kong's hottest summer, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the unexpected—whether that be sudden rain or just how hot things have suddenly gotten! Yet, in these moments, we are reminded to lean on an unexpected God who strengthens us from within. As Ephesians 3:16 (NIV) shares, "I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” God often works in ways we least expect, providing hope and strength in the most surprising circumstances. So let us stay strong and trust in the unexpected God who fortifies us from within.

  • In today's world, we often hear debates about who the "Greatest of All Time" (GOAT) is in sports, music, and other fields. But in the Kingdom of God, the answer might surprise you. Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3). This powerful verse reminds us that greatness in God's eyes is not about power, fame, or achievements. Instead, it’s about humility, innocence, and a pure heart. Just as children trust and depend on their parents, we are called to trust and depend on God with childlike faith.

If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

    “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.

    “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.”

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

As we navigate through the challenges and changes in Hong Kong, let's take a moment to reflect on the power of forgiveness, restoration, and the great grace of God through the confidence of Psalm 103:2: "Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” In these times of rapid technological advancements and societal shifts, may we remember to anchor ourselves in gratitude and faith.     ================This Week's Scripture:// John 18:1-12 //Jesus arrestedWhen he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it.

    Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons.

    Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, ‘Who is it you want?’

    ‘Jesus of Nazareth,’ they replied.‘I am he,’ Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) When Jesus said, ‘I am he,’ they drew back and fell to the ground.

    Again he asked them, ‘Who is it you want?’

    ‘Jesus of Nazareth,’ they said.

    Jesus answered, ‘I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, then let these men go.’ This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: ‘I have not lost one of those you gave me.’

    Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)

    Jesus commanded Peter, ‘Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?’

    Then the detachment of soldiers with its commander and the Jewish officials arrested Jesus. They bound him
