July 27th, 1996. Atlanta, Georgia. During a free concert at Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park, security guard Richard Jewell spotted an abandoned backpack. Authorities soon discovered that it contained a live bomb. The bomb detonated minutes later, but Jewell’s actions saved countless lives. Days later, he became the main suspect in the bombing. On one occasion Hope assaulted Sarah with a rolling pin, hospitalizing her for four days. The night Hope murdered Sarah, the police were called but they failed to check Hope’s history or take proactive action directed at him. In fact, they didn’t even ask his name.

Laura analyses Ronald Evan’s behaviour and Rob Murphy reveals something shared by Michelle Leonard, the undercover police officer who caught him and how his 2022 documentary about Ronald Evans helped catch 81-year-old Evans once more.
Police arrested Evans the day after the documentary was broadcast. As she jailed Evans for four years last November, the judge said: "The risk you pose to women is significant. The combination of your history and continuing sexual interest underlies my concern you are a risk of serious sexual harm to women."
83-year-old Evans is back before the Parole Board in October 2024. Twice a Parole Board took the decision to release Ronald Evans early. Will women be put at risk a third time?

Laura and Rob discuss the harrowing and unbelievable details of the horrific 1963 rape/murder of 21-year-old Kathleen Heathcote. Despite Ronald Evans receiving a life sentence for this offence, Evans was moved to an open prison in Bristol after 10 years and released. Evans re-married and he began targeting and raping women.
Following an undercover operation codenamed Operation Argus, he was arrested and charged with five of the sexual assaults. He received a nine-year sentence. In 2018 he was released in North London where he switched up his MO and started targeting women once more. How many chances do male rapists and murderers of women get?

Two men, James and Donovan Cloud, were arrested and in custody by Monday 10th June for the White Swan Murders which took place on Saturday 8th June 2019. With the discovery of Josiah and John’s skeletal remains, Liz believed charges would follow. That didn’t happen.
A plea deal was offered to James and Donovan Cloud. It was taken by Donovan Cloud. You will hear the details of that deal in this episode.

Breanna shares when she first saw the treadmill abuse video and that although a worker from the Department of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) viewed the video, staggeringly they did not include it in their report to Judge Patrick Bradshaw at the Emergency Custody Order hearing on March 31, 2021. Breanna also reveals what DCP&P worker said to her having watched Christopher Gregor abuse six-year-old Corey on the treadmill. What she shares is utterly mind-blowing. Corey was killed just days later.

On April 2 2021 6-year-old Corey Micciolo was taken to Southern Ocean County Medical Center in New Jersey by Christopher Gregor. Corey sadly died at 502pm, alone without his mother present. Corey had been discharged from Jersey Shore Medical Center the night before and was given a clean bill of health, bar many bruises and contusions on his body after he was abused by Gregor on a treadmill on March 20 2021. Corey was due to be interviewed on April 2 by a trained child abuse evaluator – he never made that appointment.
