Episodes

  • Halloween night has always been known to bring a spook or two, but there's been talks of checking your children's candy for years and it's all because of Ronald O'Bryan. The Media named him The Candy Man after he took his child's own life and put the risks of other children's lives at stake all because of his own misfortunes. Sip on some Limited Edition Nightmare Before Christmas Bones Coffee with us while we go over how he could possibly do this to his own family.

  • In 2006, Robert Wone was crashing at the home of some friends in Washington DC after a legal seminar. About an hour after his arrival to the home of Joseph Price, Victor Zaborsky and Dylan Ward, a 911 call was placed from the house, where the operated was told that Wone had been attacked by an intruder. Theories about his death circulated for years until an affidavit was released stating exactly what went down at the DuPont Circle home that August, and allowing for officers to arrest the housemates on charges of obstruction. Erika walks us through the night of the crime from the POV of each person involved, more details from the affidavit, and what followed the arrest of the men. To this day, Robert and his loved ones still have not received justice. We hope to see this case solved soon.

Crime on Caffeine stands with and supports all members of the LGBTQ+ community and the BDSM community. We do not believe that your sexual orientation or sexual preferences referenced in today’s episode (when consensual) are ever any indicator of violent behavior and we refuse to speculate anything based off of those characteristics. We encourage our listeners to do the same.

  • In honor of it almost being spooky season. Today we are going to look into the crimes of a man who's fascination with eyeballs started as young as age 11 when his mother caught him killing animals so she put him into taxidermy classes. Charles Albright had everyone fooled with his charisma, talents, and over overachieving personality. He almost got away with murdering 3 women if only it wasn't for the pesky love of eyeballs that gave him away. Sip on some Lunar Labs Coffee with us as we discuss The Eyeball Killer.

  • In July of 2011, Rebecca Zahau was found nude, bound, and hanging from the second-story balcony of her boyfriend, Jonah Shacknai’s California mansion. The same mansion where Shackni’s six-year-old son, Max, was found by Zahau at the end of the stairs just two days before Rebecca’s death. He died just a few days later, his death being ruled accidental. Zahau’s death was ultimately ruled a suicide. But those close to Rebecca didn’t buy it - other than it being out of character, she was tied up, and a cryptic message was left at the scene of her death. Rebecca’s family has been fighting for over ten years to bring her justice.

  • Jessica met Mitesh Patel in her childhood. They dated throughout college and after much apprehension from her strict Hindu family...they were married. Jessica wanted the picturesque life with a husband and a family. Little did she know her husband was living a double life and this crossroad led to her untimely death. Sip on Wake the Hell Up Ultra Caffeinated pumpkin coffee with us as we discuss how the signs were right there in front of everyone's eyes and how Jessica's murder could have been avoided.

  • In this week’s episode, Erika walks us through the childhood and reign of terror of one of Colombia’s most notorious serial killers - and maybe one of the worst of all time - Luis Garavito. Luis traveled across different cities in Colombia, murdering what is now believed to be almost 400 children in the 90s. Please note that we are discussing some graphic content in this episode that not everyone will be comfortable with.

  • In the early 1900's a young man started his crime spree. At first it was small crimes... stealing things here and there but after a stint at a reform school where he was abused the crimes became more frequent and more violent. Carl Panzram ended up getting a death sentence for 21 killings and over 1000 rapes across continents. Today we be sippin' on Magic Hour tea while we discuss this man's messed up life.

  • In 1990, Jennifer Schuett was abducted from her bedroom and dragged to a field, left for dead with her throat slashed. She was told she would never be able to speak again, but she was the only witness to her attempted murder - and she was determined to get the justice she deserved. It wouldn’t be until 2009 when the FBI, and Dickinson Police Department, with the help of Jennifer, finally solve the horrifying crime.

  • What is we told you that the murder of Teresita Basa was solved by....well, her own ghost. 47 year-old Teresita was brutally stabbed and burned to death in her apartment in Chicago, Illinois. Because of the lack of evidence caused by the fire, detectives really had nothing to go off of in terms of WHO could have committed this crime. Sip on some Bones Coffee with us as we divulge how the murderer was not only named but sentenced to time in prison through a very unconventional investigation.

  • In the fall of 1984, Christine Jessop was abducted from her home in Queensville, Ontario. It would be months before police would have a suspect, or any break in the case. Then, her body was found in Sunderland on New Years Eve. Police think they have the man who committed the heinous crime, until DNA evidence exonerates him in 1995. The case would go cold yet again, until just a couple years ago.

Today we are drinking some @mommeecoffee for our soon to be Mommee Co-Host!

  • We're taking a trip back to the 1800's to cover one of the most famous cases in history. Andrew and Abby Borden were found murdered in their home by their youngest daughter, Lizzie Borden. However, police were not convinced that Lizzie was the innocent Sunday School teacher and more convinced that she was in fact the one to take a hatchet to her parents. After a very public trial, the townspeople came to a shocking decision. Sip on some Alta Roasters coffee from Highland Park, Illinois with us while we go through what happened.

  • In February of 2000, 9-year-old Asha Degree left her home in Shelby, North Carolina with her bag packed, never to be seen again. To this day, police are still searching for Asha and anyone who may have been involved in her disappearance - but no one has ever been arrested and she has never been found.

Today we are introducing you to our holy grails - our must have, most loved, will always go back to - coffees! For Allyson, it’s one of our most loved Brands, @philzcoffee. For Erika, @greenmtncoffee, Hazelnut of course.

  • Kitty Genovese was only 28 years old when she was brutally murdered right outside the front door of her apartment building on her and her girlfriend's one year dating anniversary. News articles immediately reported that 38 people witnessed this heinous crime and did not call the police. This led to a psychological phenomenon known as the Bystander Effect. Take a sip on some 2Queens Coffee with us while we dive into what happened to Kitty and how her murder brought change to society in a couple different ways.

  • Bison Dele, born Brian Williams, was a natural born athlete, a first round NBA draft pick, and an NBA champion, until his final seasons with the Detroit Pistons when he decided to walk away from his career after battling with depression. He was living his best life until July of 2002, when Dele, his girlfriend and the captain of his boat went missing. Erika takes us through Dele’s rise to his career as a professional athlete and his strange disappearance after reconnecting with his estranged brother and discusses the stigmatization of mental illness in the world of professional sports.

Tragically, police discovered the bodies of Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman on June 12th, 1994. • Canada's most infamous serial killer, Robert "Willy" Pickton preyed on women through not for profit parties that served more as opportunities to score sex, drugs and alcohol. Even after an attempted murder, the police set him free. It wasn't until someone who worked at the Pickton Pig Farm came forward with information that Willy's land was dug up and the world discovered 49 women had been murdered in the most brutal ways imaginable. • On June 20th, 2001, Texas mother drowned her five children one by one after her husband left for work. Her attorneys argue she was legally insane at the time of the murders. Others argued that Andrea knew right from wrong when she did the unthinkable. In this weeks episode, Erika walks us through Andrea’s life and struggle with post-partum depression leading up to her psychotic break that led to her committing this horrific nightmare. In honor of Mental Health Awareness month, we are sippin' on an oldie but a goodie @sipofhope! • Tara Calico seemingly disappeared out of thin air while riding her bike in September of 1988. The 19-year old rode along New Mexico State Road 47 every single day, but on this day she told her mother she would be home by noon and never showed up. It seemed like there was nothing to go off of in order to find her... no evidence, no body, no witnesses. There are a couple theories on what happened to Tara from polaroids proving her abduction to a full blown deathbed confession that led to where we are today. So, sip on some Fresh Catch Coffee with Erika and I as we celebrate our 1 year anniversary! All sources can be found on www.crimeoncaffeine.com. Follow us on social media @crimeoncaffeine
