  • Today, host Chef Carla Contreras is joined by Alexis Durham, an herbalist, teacher, gardener, and avid lover of the herbal industry. Alexis is the Director of Education at the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), and in this episode, we discuss the importance of knowing your herbs and how the AHPA is supporting herbal businesses. 

    Alexis’ love for the botanical world began as a child when she would gather mint leaves for her family’s daily tea ritual. Now, she channels her herbal passion through her work at AHPA with education initiatives and community support. It’s important that people are informed about herbs so they know about the herbs they’re putting in their body, for safety, and to develop a relationship with the plant. She then shares the role of AHPA in the herbal industry, how Tadin is involved with AHPA, and examples of recent AHPA educational events.     Wellness is deeply rooted in the Social Chica brand. Brianna is a firm believer that if you’re not putting 100% into yourself, that will be 100% mirrored back in your business. This is reflected in how the Social Chica operates their co-working spaces which are more like welcoming hangout spaces for women business owners. The needs of small business owners are at the forefront of the co-working and the spaces are fully equipped with covetable resources, like a content room, a meditation room, and access to affordable photographers. Brianna shares the Social Chica’s ethos in party planning, the types of guests they invite, and the incredible impact these kinds of networking opportunities have on the women attending.   • Today’s episode is all about bringing up the heat — with a recipe for our Spicy Flor de Jamaica Pomegranate Mocktail with Chamomile Anise Tea! It's the perfect concoction to sip during the winter holidays (or anytime you're craving a spicy treat). This recipe was built to bring exciting flavors together: hibiscus, pomegranate, and jalepeño. Plus, it’s inspired by one of our other TADIN recipes. Can you guess which one? 

    First, we share the recipe for our organic hibiscus tea jalepeño syrup, and detail how to store the syrup to create a beautiful concentrated flavor. From there, we cover how to transfer the syrup over the chamomile tea bags and implement the remaining ingredients — including Chef Carla’s favorite, bitters!
