What does Jesus mean when He says, “I AM the Resurrection and the Life”? Is He speaking of future events or far off promises? No. In Jesus' proclamation, "I AM the Resurrection and the Life," He is speaking in the present continuous tense. He is not just "the Life" for us in the past, or "the Resurrection" sometime off in the future. The Great I AM is the Resurrection and the Life for us NOW, TODAY in our present reality.

In an era with so many voices and so many claims to authority – even declarations of “my truth” and “your truth,” we may feel unsettled, confused or insecure. Jesus invites us into genuine peace and security in the knowledge that with Him, we will always have clear direction because He is the Way, complete confidence because He is the Truth, and total fullness because He is the Life. He does this by inviting us into His presence where He clears away our confusion, our aimlessness, and our hopelessness as the One-and-only Way, Truth and Life – the perfect Icon of God.
