  • First, please pretend that I didn’t skip a month due to Game Day. Have you done that? Awesome!

This month, I’m joined by Lora, who plays a very important role in the Extra Life community: Tori’s Angel. Tori’s Angels are the names given to the volunteers that make Extra Life United, our wonderful annual meeting of Extra Lifers, happen. This name also extends virtually to volunteers that help moderate the official Extra Life Discord.

Lora takes part in both of these roles. Much of our discussion centers upon the work done at Extra Life United, but we also chat about her Extra Life journey and also the work she does musically with Clearly Guilty, who you heard during my Game Day breaks this past year.

I want to thank Lora for joining me in this awesome conversation and highly suggest tossing an Extra Life donation to this Angel on her Extra Life page.

  • For this month’s Extra Voices, I have hit yet another unique type of content creator: a VTuber.

When my guest, Blair, streams, she does so as a lovable raccoon version of herself. In this episode, she talks about how she got into VTubing and how she’s integrated it into her Extra Life campaign.

Wether she’s spinning blocks in Tetris 99 or taking a dive into one of her favorite games, Blair’s infectious, joyous personality shines through in everything she does. Hell, you’ll be able to hear it yourself in this episode.

Find all of Blair’s socials (and Extra Life campaign) here. As with all my guests, I highly recommend subscribing and following her everywhere you can!

  • On this episode of Extra Voices, I’m joined by Summer Rain, aka weebwitched. Summer is the first cosplayer and singer that I’ve had on the show because yes, she does both.

Find out how she started this unique combination and how she got involved with Extra Life as you enjoy cuts from her Persona 5 concert from last weekend’s MiracleCon.

  • Today, on a very special episode of Extra Voices, I feature a guest that has nothing to do with Extra Life. Ryan Nanni, of the Shutdown Fullcast and Every Day Should Be Saturday (RIP), joins me to talk about their annual Charity Bowl benefitting New American Pathways.

The expertly crafted image above (for those of you reading the show notes on Podcast mediums, click here) features one of Ryan’s cohosts and founders of EDSBS, Spencer Hall. Why is he wearing 50-inch JUNCOs? It’s a charity incentive unlike any other…all because Spencer refuses to shoot a basketball.

I wanted Ryan on the show how their crew has grown a wonderous community of college football nuts and channeled our innate spite into good humored fun for a great cause. Yep, that’s the tie-in every Extra Lifer is familiar with: a grassroots communal effort to raise money mixed with silliness and fun that each of our individual communities love.

Did I make this non-Extra Lifer play D20 questions despite learning what Extra Life was pretty much right before the show? Yes. Did it matter? Probably not.

Oh, and I get to detail how I completely derailed a game of Simon Says during Extra Life United.

This might all make sense when you listen. It might not too. That’s par for the Fullcast course.

  • The Extra Voices podcast machine has laid dormant for far too long!

I’m happy to hop back in the saddle featuring the first Canadians to grace the pod: KaptainKirk and StressfulGengar of the Extra Life Winnipeg Guild.

We chat about how they got started with Extra Life, how their guild formed, and some of the stories and memories that they’ve made throughout the years through Extra Life—including a story about a streaming marathon that is so crazy that I’d never dream of attempting it!

Make sure to follow the Winnipeg Guild on Twitter as well as Twitch. They stream every Thursday, typically a couple hours before I do, so go check them out!

You can also follow KaptainKirk on his personal Twitter and Twitch and StressfulGengar on Twitter and Twitch as well!

  • Heroes, I am pleased to bring you the latest episode of Extra Voices, featuring Frosty, aka the World-First-Race-Guy of Final Fantasy XIV and the host of the weekly MogTalk podcast.

As an avid FFXIV player, I get extremely hyped for the world first races of the game’s toughest content. Not because I ever participate—that’s a whole other level that I do not have the time, and likely the skill, to devote to. What I look forward to are the events that Frosty puts together: streaming groups, keeping a leaderboard updated, and creating a full broadcast that gets better and better every time he does it.

Not only are his race streams great to watch, they raise money for Extra Life, with the latest event raising over $56,000!!!

This is a great episode to not just celebrate Frosty’s success and get a peak behind the curtain, but it’s a fantastic listen to for any fundraiser and content creator. You’ll hear about the importance of not just finding and building a community, but how to grow and capitalize when you find that sweet spot.

It’s also a must-listen for anyone thinking about doing content creation full-time as Frosty has just started that journey himself—as a new dad no less.

I can’t thank Frosty enough for taking the time to chat. Please be sure to check out his weekday streams, and weekly MogTalk show, on his Twitch channel. Oh, and feel free to add on to his massive fundraising number for funsies.

  • Extra Voices has now returned in its original, proper fashion: talking with other Extra Lifers!

My first guest of 2023 is Max, aka happymaxidents. This is Max’s ninth year doing Extra Life in support of Penn State Children’s in Hersey, PA. He also has a very personal reason of why he got involved: his own story.

Max’s experience and witnessing how the Children’s Miracle Network helped not just him, but his family in their time of need, shows just how important the donations to Extra Life are and in ways that you may not even think of. Plus, it helped inspire his career, which was a big surprise to me! You never know what will happen when you bring an Extra Lifer on.

I hope you are inspired by Max’s story, enjoy his unique incentives, and his story about creating the Golden Gamers who have raised over $55,000 to Extra Life.

Follow Max on Instatgram, find him in the Extra Life Discord, and, most importantly, donate to his campaign today!

  • Well, I guess I’m going to have to stop being podcast lazy and get fresh episodes up because the final replay of my 2022 Game Day is here.

This interview features my old Her Loyal Sons podcasting co-host Shane.

After spending a few years chatting about Notre Dame football, college football, and casting NCAA ‘14 sims, even the most loyal listeners will get to experience us talk about stuff we usually don’t.

Like complaining about the state of the US National Men’s Team in the World Cup because we both watched them get bounced right before we went live.

Other important topics discussed: how we consume Notre Dame and college football in our podcast retirement days and, most importantly, Pokemon.

  • I know Extra Voices is meant to highlight the charitable work, but I’m beyond honored to give one of my donors, Rachel, a platform to share the awesome things she does as an extension of her day job.

Sure, she’s tossed in $1,000 (!!!) the past two years during my marathons, but this interview is focused on how she does other things besides changing kids health through Extra Life donations.

And at the heart of it all, Rachel is a gamer making a difference. As far as I’m concerned, that is the spirit of Extra Life!

  • Lou Holtz has a famous quote about how to explain Notre Dame to someone: “Those who know Notre Dame, no explanation’s necessary. Those who don’t, no explanation will suffice.”

I feel like this episode absolutely falls well into Lou’s sage wisdom. If you know, you know. If you don’t, buckle up for a hilarious ride.

Also, don’t forget that I’m streaming on YouTube (most) Wednesday nights and that will continue tonight at around 9 PM CST. You can always head to my Extra Life page via gamin4aven.org to see the latest stream (live or on demand) as well as make your donation to help #ChangeKidsHealth!

  • It has been far to long since I’ve gotten a podcast out. With life, holidays, my Game Day marathon, plus putting in ground work for my 2023 effort, this venture has been on the backburner for far too long!

To kick things off this year, I’m replaying all the interview segments that I had during my Game Day marathon back in December 2022. This is a great introduction to the kind of content that I do throughout the year.

This episode in particular is a great primer as the interview tables are turned! Adam Schifani, one of the Community Managers for Extra Life, dropped in to chat about my Extra Life efforts, how I got started and why I do it.

Why don’t you help me get started in changing kids’ health in 2023? Make sure to roll by gamin4aven.org and get those tax-deductible donations in!

  • Thanks to another wonderful $100 donation to my Extra Life Campaign, I am proud to bring another NCAA ‘14 Sim to the masses. This wonderful reprieve from my various house projects features this weekend’s Battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh between Notre Dame and Southern Cal.

Don’t forget, next weekend, starting Friday, December 2, I will start my Extra Life 24-hour marathon that will feature me playing through the entire 2022 Notre Dame season.

  • A huge thanks to good ‘ol Milfy for the $100 and his request to make this Notre Dame sim a reality. Also, a big shoutout to Sapipa, who tossed in $100 during this stream for a future Notre Dame @ Southern Cal sim as well!

For the second time this season, I return to the virtual pressbox where I found myself immediately greeted by what I can only assume is an elaborate Halloween prank a couple nights late.

Did the chat call for Drew Pyne to ride the pine? Repeatedly. Did I do it? Listen and see.

Typically, donations cause me pain through food and drink, but now…now we’ve found a new way to torture me.

Changing Kids’ Health, one stupid sim at a time.

  • When I had the concept of Extra Voices rattling around in my head, I had a list of who I wanted to interview for the show. Within that list were was a smaller group of reaches and I’m happy to say I’m one-for-one on them.

Eve, aka cuten00b, hosted Extra Life United this past spring. I had only two interactions with her the entire event. I thanked her for her work while among a group doing the same and ran into her at the hotel Starbucks catching up on some work before leaving for my flight.

I’m constantly amazed at how small interactions snowball into something much larger. This interview was everything that I hoped for and more. Not only does Eve have some a great story about how she grew into streaming and casting, but has both a focus on representing LatinX in gaming as well as having a huge heart for charity.

Be sure to follow Eve on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, and YouTube. Check out her casting on Galorants as well. Also, I encouraged her to put up an Extra Life page after she had only a weekend Tiltify campaign. After all, she has a goal of raising $10,000 for charity—let’s help her get there!

  • It was only a matter of time before severe technical issues invaded my latest project, and God himself brought down the thunder upon this venture.

It’s only fitting that this happens the first time I interview a Children’s Miracle Network employee as well. Travis Mantooth, the man now in charge of our Extra Life efforts at the Children’s Health Foundation of Oklahoma City, joins me in this episode. We discuss his new role (he’s only months into it!), his goals and plans for the future of the program, and the successes so far.

Travis is also a veteran Extra Lifer of over a decade as well! So we have plenty of discussion around streaming for the event, hopefully encouraging others to sign up.

Please make sure to follow Travis on Twitter, Twitch, YouTube, and reach out to him via email with any Extra Life questions you may have! Oh, and donate to his Extra Life campaign as well!

  • Yes, it’s been longer than I wanted between uploads; however, my voice finally doesn’t sound horrid from a cold and I finally got a few breaths in from life!

This panel, a solo effort from Kris Kuss, Associate Professor of Movement at the University of Oklahoma City’s School of Theatre, focuses on the world of tabletop RPGs. More specifically, Kris focuses on the character work and interactions involved with the rest of the table to make the experiences memorable.

As someone that is looking to dive further into this world myself for the first time as a near 40-year old, I soaked just about everything in on this panel. So whether you are a long time player or someone looking to dive in, Kris has a ton of great wisdom and personal stories to share, including putting unrealistic expectations that stem from popular TTRPG content creators to the side.

  • After the initial content blitz, it’s time to settle back in to a much more relaxed posting schedule!

This episode of Extra Voices features the Gaming for Good panel that I participating in at MiracleCon 2022 in Oklahoma City. The panel is hosted by yours truly, guest of the pod, Amber Hanneken, and Jaku from Warp World.

We discuss all the different ways to using our passions for gaming to raise money for charity whether it be board games, streaming video games, or using cool tools like Warp World’s Crowd Control.

As a special treat, I’ve included part of the opening ceremony which includes Vicki Ernst talking about all the fantastic world the Children’s Health Foundation of Oklahoma City does and what all your incredible donations to Gamin’ 4 Aven directly supports!

  • The opening week launch of way-too-much-time-sensitive content is finally complete with this lasted donor pod.

Sure, I've retired from Her Loyal Sons, but a $100 donation to Change Kids Health will absolutely bring me back. In fact, another such donation has been made to sim Notre Dame vs. Clemson later in the year. Keep those donations coming in to and I will keep the sims coming--or any podcast episode you request.

$100 too much? How about $5 to add to the podcast mailbag or $20 to make me create a "Cameo" style video in which I say whatever you want and post to social media.

For those unfamiliar with this particular brand of silliness, at Her Loyal Sons, we decided to change how we "previewed" Notre Dame football games and had the CPU play out the current week's game. What resulted was a complete and wonderful disaster of glitches, bugs, and heartbreak. A huge thanks to @WojDaGawd for the donation!

To see all my Extra Life streams live, make sure to follow me on Twitch. If you’d like to see the video (an uncensored audio), head over to YouTube.

  • Another day, another pod and this time it’s of the $100 donation variety. I would like to thank Joe Siler for his continued generosity to Gamin’ 4 Aven and being the first donor to not just cash this incentive in, but to be the first donor guest as well.

Remember, while $100 can let you do a full podcast episode (and we have one more time sensitive one tomorrow…), just $5 will let you add to the Extra Voices mailbag in which you can ask me anything you want.

So enjoy Joe, and our mutual Sorin Otter brother, Mikey J chat about ND football, our upcoming Vegas trip, and well…just about whatever else came to mind!

  • Enjoy the flurry of podcast content while it lasts or, if you aren’t the biggest fan of this many emails, worry not, weather this storm, as they will slow down!

I’m happy to have my debut my first interview with Amber Hanneken, who helps run the second largest Extra Life fundraising event (behind yours truly!) at Game HQ in Oklahoma City. Amber is a fantastic representative of the tabletop community in OKC and you will absolutely enjoy hearing how she has helped #ChangeKidsHealh.

It’s fitting that I also introduce my recurring bit, D20 Questions, with a tabletop enthusiast. I ask three questions, determined by the roll of a D20, all with an Extra Life theme. Make sure to tune in to every interview I do in order to eventually hear all 20 questions!

Something else that I will be doing in each podcast is to make sure my donation button and any donation links are that of my guest. It’s just a small way to thank them for their time and to spread the Extra Life love!

You can donate to Game HQ’s Extra Life page here (and get in on their raffles) or clicking on the button below! Signed up for Extra Life, supporting Children’s Health Foundation of OKC and not on our team? Fix that and join us!
