Over a decade ago, INIT started as a modest chapter of UPE, a computer science honor society, at Florida International University. Despite facing various challenges as the society's president, Cesar successfully overcame them and transformed the club into a noteworthy nonprofit organization.
The nonprofit organized the largest hackathon on the East Coast, Shell Hacks, surpassing even HackMIT. It raised over $1.5 million in grants and sponsorships and amassed a community of over 4000 members. Many students affiliated with the organization have landed tech jobs at top-tier companies, and some have even become startup founders.
