How do you decide what to renovate or rebuild. Should you tear it down? What makes a building worth preserving? We ask the architect Alex Shuey who is a project leader with a renovation and resotration firm in New York City. He is a graduate of the architecture program at University of North Carolina Charlotte and has worked in Nova Scotia, where we met. He is another friend on the show and very happy to be able to talk to him more about what he has been up to. This podcast was recorded in a quite echo-y room. So we will have to not do that again, hmmm? We also get into some more self-initiated projects like a renovation of a farm in Western Pennsylvania and a micro-gallery in Chelsea.

Alex Gaynor is a First year Master's student at the University of California Santa Barbara iat the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management. He is also the Visual Design Lead at TidalVison, a startup in Washington State. Besides also being a Ski Patrol and certified EMT in Lake Tahoe, he manages to get to Burning Man every year, lives most of the time out of his converted sprinter van, and make a wicked meal. This conversation was really just a test but I felt that it covered some interesting ground and with his permission, posted it here, Enjoy!

Of course I want things to ease for everyone but I also want to be a part of the growing movement to use this time to think about the world we want to live in. Here we introduce the first season and the topics I want to touch on for keys to this utopic dream.
