    Here’s how to get started:

Create your dream client. Imagine the exact kind of client you want to attract. What do they offer? Who do they serve? What’s their vibe? Hop into Canva and create a mood board for this fictional brand. ****

Mock up their website. Use Canva or your website designer to mock up a fictional website. Treat it like a real project, and work through your client process while you go.

Show it off! Use this mockup on your portfolio, on social media, everywhere!

  • It’s true that it can be difficult to scale as a service provider. You’re only one person, after all. But there are still plenty of options for solopreneurs and service providers who want to scale their income without building a team.

One of the best ways for web designers and other service providers to increase their income without taking on more clients is to create passive income streams. Here’s how you can create your own passive income streams as a service provider.

  • Every business comes with expenses, and web design is no different! Just because I don’t need to rent an office space, hire an on-site team, or buy physical supplies doesn’t mean I don’t invest in tools to help me run my business.

(And because I’m a bit of a tech addict, I invest in a lot of tools...)

Over the years, I’ve whittled my expenses down to only my absolute favorite and most-used apps. These are the ones that help me attract, convert, and manage all my web design clients.

Now, I want to share these tools with you in today’s podcast episode.

  • When I first started my business, I registered as an LLC and immediately started looking for clients. I was so eager to make those first few bucks that I didn't think much about planning for my future success. While it all worked out in the end, I wish I would have spent some time and energy at the beginning establishing my systems and creating a business that afforded me the life I wanted.

On this week's episode of the Intentional Creative Podcast, learn from my mistakes and do these three things before staring your web design business.

  • Oh, the dreaded "code" word. While many Squarespace users shy away from custom CSS, Becca of Inside the Square was hooked after her very first adventure into coding. Who knew coding a single button would change the course of her entire career?

What started as a simple tweak turned into a bustling business teaching fellow entrepreneurs how to customize their own Squarespace websites through simple, comprehensive tutorials and courses.

I had so much fun with Becca at last year's Square Summit, and I'm so glad we got her on this weeks episode of the Intentional Creative Podcast.

Becca's Bio: Becca Harpain is a self-proclaimed "super nerd" who teaches Squarespace users how to utilize custom CSS to create beautiful, functional websites. She runs on copious amounts of coffee and peanut butter, and when she's not coding away in the bat cave, she's running, hiking, and backpacking her way across the Pacific Northwest.

  • Fellow small business owners, you know the feeling. In the early days, you take on every client that comes your way, say "yes" to projects that don't excite you, and take on way more than you can handle. It's a rite of passage that seemingly every creative entrepreneur goes through, myself included.

After a couple years, I realized something had to change. I was burnt out, bored with my work, and dreading taking on new clients. I honed in on what I wanted and made a commitment to building a business that felt good. It's been all uphill from there!

On this week's episode of the Intentional Creative Podcast, I'm sharing my story of quitting client work and how I eventually fell back in love with it.

  • This week on the podcast, I'm chatting with Claire Clausing of Blooming Design Co. After moving to Tampa for her first job after college, Claire found herself alone in a new city with no network to speak of. Then, she took a chance, quit her corporate job, and started her own web design and branding business, Blooming Design Co.

New town, new business, and absolutely no connections. What's an introvert to do?!

Claire happened upon her first client in a coffee shop, and that single client became her top referral source to this day. Since then, Claire has established herself as a true expert in the web design space, and Blooming Design Co. has proven itself to be a reliable, sustainable business. • When I first started my business, I really struggled to tick off all my to-do list items throughout the week. I'd end up moving tasks to the next week, then the next, and then letting them fall off the list altogether. In the past few years, though, I've developed a system that keeps me productive and eliminates the stress of an ever-growing to-do list.

This is my process for organizing your to-do list for maximum productivity and minimal stress. Take a listen, and check out the blog for a step-by-step breakdown.

  • Do you struggle with analysis paralysis?

I used to spend months researching, planning, and preparing to make moves in my business. But when it actually came time to act, I froze. What if I'm not ready? What if I haven't done enough research? What if this isn't the right move?

Over the years, I've learned that there's only one way to find out if a decision is the right one: make it and see. There's always a chance it won't work out, but how will you ever know if you don't try?

This week on the podcast, I'm talking about my own experiences with analysis paralysis and how I finally stopped over-planning and started doing. Click below to listen!

  • While I'll be talking a lot about productivity, systems and workflows on this podcast, today I want to talk about one strategy in particular that's made a huge difference in my ability to connect with potential clients around the clock, even when I'm not sitting behind my desk.

    That strategy is email marketing.

There are so many different areas to cover around the topic of email marketing. We could talk about growing your list. We could talk about creating opt-in forms and where to place your email opt-ins on your website. It's seriously limitless.

In this episode, I specifically want to talk to you about one way you can use email marketing to save yourself a ton of time, and that is email marketing automation or workflows.

So what actually is email marketing automation? What does that look like for your business? Listen now to find out.
