Welcome back to Missionary Roundtable!
In this episode I talk to James Fyffe, former missionary and current pastor and professor at Midtown Baptist Temple and Living Faith Bible Institute in Kansas City, MO. In addition to English, James speaks Spanish and Urdu. Sometimes the topic of language learning can seem a bit mysterious to new and prospective missionaries. We try bring you behind the scenes by comparing some of the differences in strategies when learning different languages, and what kind of expectations missionaries should have when beginning language school on the field. We share our own stories of victory and failure, and also talk about some language logistics like CEFR levels (A1, A2, B1...etc.)

Welcome back to Missionary Roundtable!
In this episode, I sit down with Erion & Jonida Vogli to get an update on the Albanian Bible translation project. The conversation gets much deeper than that, as we glean interesting information on the individual words that God uses throughout scripture. Erion tells us why a "word-level" translation is important, versus a "verse-level" translation. We also learn how a foreign language Bible translation can be faithful and accurate, yet still lack depth and precision. And, most importantly, why your philosophy on God's promise to preserve His words forever matters, first and foremost, before you ever start translating the scriptures.

Matt is the Pastor of Northside Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio--which is a church plant sent out by First Baptist Church of New Philadelphia, Ohio. Matt was discipled and trained at his home church, and served as an associate pastor on staff before being sent out to plant Northside Baptist Church. Matt's story is an encouragement to anyone seeking to be used by God, who may feel like they don't always have a clear path laid out in front of them. Ultimately, the question for every Christian at any point in his or her life is this: What is your next step?
