I want to share something that's been on my mind for a while, something that's more of a journey than a destination. In this episode, we delve into the delicate dance of creating a perfectly balanced schedule. 🎯🗓️
We all feel the weight of busy lives, especially when the mental load falls squarely on our shoulders. We're constantly juggling work, family, and the myriad of tasks that fill our days. But instead of finding joy in our busyness, we often find ourselves overwhelmed and burnt out. 💼👨👩👧👦
This episode is about reframing that narrative. It's about understanding that balance doesn't mean doing everything perfectly; it means prioritizing what truly matters. We explore a framework that places responsibilities, priorities, and play into a harmonious balance, helping us to navigate the chaos with grace. ⚖️✨
Visualize with me: a blank slate calendar. Together, we'll rebuild it, ensuring our core responsibilities are met, our singular priority—our children—are nurtured, and there's still room for the joy and spontaneity that makes life beautiful. 📅❤️😊
Let's challenge the notion that we need to do it all and instead focus on what fills our hearts and fuels our souls. Remember, friends, you are not alone in this motherhood journey. We're all in this together, learning and growing as we go. 🌟💪
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this and how it resonates with your experience. Let’s embrace this journey towards a more balanced, fulfilling life. 🌸🌈

In today’s episode, we delve into the heart of what it means to set resolutions and intentions, not just in January, but at any moment that calls for renewal in our lives.
I share stories from our now-legendary family and friends camping trip, a tradition that beautifully illustrates how community and connection are woven into the fabric of our lives. These stories are not just about fun and camaraderie; they're reflections on growth, balance, and the continuous journey of self-discovery.
We'll explore why sometimes, despite our best intentions, our resolutions don’t make it past the declaration stage. I open up about my personal challenges this year—how moving and motherhood have tested my balance and how a simple visit to a new chiropractor offered unexpected insights into finding my equilibrium.
This episode is for anyone who feels they’re standing at a crossroads, looking for a signpost. It’s about understanding that every day offers a chance for a fresh start and that finding our footing isn’t just about recognizing where we stand but feeling deeply grounded in who we are.
Join me as we contemplate the courage it takes to begin anew, the vulnerability in admitting when things are off-kilter, and the immense power of setting intentions that align with our deepest values. Let’s start this journey together, embracing the messy, beautiful process of becoming who we were meant to be.

That's What She Said is all about the stories I have been listening to in my one-on-one interviews with Mothers from all around around Australia.
These beautiful and honest conversations are a window into the pains and strains of the modern mother and they form the heartbeat and backbone of my work in My Motherhood.

When a woman becomes a mother an absolutely seismic shift happens in her identity. She changes from her full and complete pre-mother self into her forever-more mother self. This change is described as being so monumental that women experience a complete split in their identity. We have to work out how to reconcile these two parts to find a new whole identity. This process of woman into mother is called matrescence.
This week I talk about:
1. What happens a woman becomes a mother.
2. The split that happens during this transition from pre-mother to mother.
3. Matrescence as the umbrella term for this transformation and how this term allows space for the expectation of change.
🍇To talk about with your partner.
What are the five questions you can have up your sleeve to ask a new mother? Which questions would been/will be meaningful for you? (try not to ask about the baby in these questions. Those thoughts will roll off the tongue naturally at the time. These questions stay with and about the mother.)
What are five questions you can have ready to ask a new father? (Remember: not about the baby.)
Extension: The same question but for mothers at 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years into their motherhood. (Stay away from questions that ask for advice. Keep the questions oriented around the personhood of the mother.)

The way we go into something almost always determines how we feel about about it afterwards. Our expectations acknowledged and unacknowledged have a huge impact on our overall sense of how motherhood is going, what its like for each of us and what steps we should take moving forward.
This week we think about:
1. How we create our expectations.
2. Some areas of motherhood where we may have expectations
3. What happens when our expectations aren't realised.
Get your own copy of the expectations worksheet here so you can do the work in your own life. It includes BONUS prompts for expectations you have of your co-parent/partner and of your child.
🍇To talk about with your partner.
Download the worksheet and both individually write down your expectations. Come back together to share, listen and discuss any areas of alignment and incongruence.

Welcome to the My Motherhood Podcast with Beck Stanton, where we talk about what happens when a woman becomes a mother.
This week we think about the things we know, don’t know, know we don’t know and don’t know we don’t know. When we have a strong response to something or experience a shock it can be helpful to reflect on which type of known or unknown it is. It helps to make sense of our responses and our instincts.
🍇To talk about with your partner.
Parents: Which parts of becoming a mother or a father have been
1. Known knowns
2. Unknown unknowns
3. Known unknowns
4. Unknown unknowns
Give three examples of each. Take turns to listen and reflect together.
Parents to be: Which parts of your conception and pregnancy journey have been:
1. Known knowns

3. Known unknowns
4. Unknown unknowns
