Taiwan's Little Hero Finds People
Dogs are good friends to people. Some dogs also do important work for us. For one job, they work at airports. They use their noses! They sniff for drugs.
狗狗是人類的好朋友，有一些狗狗也會為人類工作，像是在機場工作的狗狗會用鼻子聞有沒有毒品。
The Kaohsiung police tried to teach a dog to sniff for drugs. But he wasn't good at it. He had too much energy! He's too friendly! Down, boy!
高雄的警察試著教一隻狗狗成為緝毒犬，但是牠太有活力而且又太親近人。
But having energy and being friendly are very good for another very important job. This dog became a rescue dog!
有活力又親近人也可以做一項很重要的工作，這隻狗可以成為搜救犬。
Rescue dogs look for people after earthquakes or other bad things happen. This dog's first job was six years ago. Taiwan had a big earthquake.
地震或是類似的事情發生後，就會出動搜救犬找人，六年前台灣發生大地震的時候，這隻狗首次執行任務。
This year, Taiwan had a bigger earthquake on April 3. That earthquake made some buildings fall down. It made rocks on mountains fall down. This dog looked for people on a mountain. He found one person.
今年4月3號台灣發生更大的地震，造成山崩、建築物倒塌，這隻搜救犬成功在山上找到一個人。
This dog is Taiwan's little hero now. He has too much energy to sniff in airports. Now he uses his energy to find people. Good boy! Oh! Down, boy! Hey! That's my microphone! Come back here!

Swimming in the Seine River
Summer is here! It's the best time to swim! Where do most people swim? That's right! They go to swimming pools or beaches.

Boy Works Hard to Make Money
Shredders cut paper into lots of very small pieces. Paper goes in and shredded paper comes out!

In Japan, a man shredded some papers. He shredded an envelope. Then … oh, no! He remembered the envelope had a ?10,000 yen bill in it! That's about $2,000 Taiwan dollars…
日本有一位男子在用碎紙機的時候，不小心把裝了一張1萬日圓的信封放進碎紙機，1萬日圓大約等於兩千塊台幣。
The man told his son about the shredded bill. If the boy put the bill back together, it was his! But first, he had to find the pieces of the bill… There was lots of shredded paper!
男子告訴他兒子，如果他可以把鈔票拼回去，那張鈔票就是他的。但他要先找出那一張日幣的碎片。
It was very hard! Some pieces of the bill were the same color as other shredded paper!
這非常困難，因為鈔票碎片跟機器裡面的一些別的碎紙顏色一樣。
The boy had another ?10,000 yen bill. He matched the little pieces to the new bill. He didn't find all of the pieces. But he found most of them! It took him three weeks!

The Fish Taxi Accident
In Oregon, lots of salmon are NOT born in rivers. These baby fish are born in hatcheries. Workers help them grow. Young fish are safe there.
奧勒岡州有很多鮭魚不是在河裡出生，而是在魚卵孵化場。工作人員把牠們安全的養大。
When salmon are about a year and a half old, they leave their hatchery. They take a fish taxi!
到了一歲半，這些小魚就會搭計程車，離開孵化場。
Fish taxis are trucks with a big tank. Hatchery workers put salmon and water in the tank.
鮭魚計程車是裝載巨大魚缸的卡車，工作人員把魚缸裝滿水，把小魚放進去。
The truck drives the fish to a river. The salmon swim down the river to the ocean. There, they become big and strong.

One day, a truck was driving near a river. The tank had more than 100,000 salmon in it. The fish were going to a big river.

From Wild Goats to Pet Goats?
A small Italian island has about 100 people. It also has about 600 wild goats!

Space Junk Zooms Over California
Do you look at the sky at night? Well, one night in California, people saw a big, bright light. It zoomed across the sky. Maybe it was a plane or a shooting star. But… it was falling to the Earth!

Dragon Boat Racing in Alabama, USA!

These people wrote fun picture books.* *They also got some old ice cream bikes. These bikes have a big, strong box to hold ice cream. But now they hold lots of books. The bikes are cute, colorful little libraries!
這些人寫了有趣的繪本，還找了用來賣冰淇淋的腳踏車，這種車都有堅固的大箱子可以裝很多書，變成小型圖書館。
Storytellers ride the bikes. They go to poor parts of the city. They find a good place for reading. They put colorful little mats on the ground. They put orange safety cones around the mats.

Working at the Penguin Post Office
Five people from the U.K. got amazing summer jobs. From November to March, they're going to work in Antarctica!

Taipei 101 Stayed Strong During Earthquake
In some places, earthquakes happen a lot. In these places, it's important for buildings to be safe during earthquakes. Engineers need to build strong and steady buildings.

Taiwan had a strong earthquake on April third. Most buildings were fine!

These Astronauts Will Make History

Adventures Can Help Us Heal
Do you like doing new things? One man loves this! When he was in the army, he did new things. He went to new places. He loved these adventures!
你喜歡嘗試新的事物嗎? 有一名男子非常喜歡，他以前在當兵的時候，經歷很多新的事情、去了很多地方，他很喜歡這些冒險。
But he lost the use of his legs in the army. He also can't feel them. Now he uses a wheelchair.
但是也在當兵的時候，他的雙腿失去知覺，現在需要坐輪椅。
Leaving the army made him very sad. He wanted to have adventures again! So he tried adventure therapy.
離開軍隊讓他很難過，他想要再次去冒險，所以他嘗試冒險治療。
Bandages help cuts heal. Medicine heals a fever. Therapy helps our minds heal.
繃帶治療傷口，藥物控制發燒，治療可以幫助我們恢復健康。
Thanks to his therapy, the man found a new adventure! Now he gets in a plane. He flies high in the sky. And then he jumps out! He's skydiving!
接受這種治療讓他找到新的冒險，他搭飛機到高空跳傘。
The man loves skydiving! It makes him feel happier! But something very surprising happens then!

He falls at one hundred ninety kilometers an hour. And he can feel his legs again! He feels them a little… But he says that little feeling, for a few seconds, is enough for him!

Keeping a Fox in the City Wild
Foxes are wild animals. They live in forests and grasslands. But sometimes, they live in cities!
狐狸是野生動物，牠們住在森林跟草原。但有時候牠們也住在城市。
In one city in the U.S., someone found a baby fox on a street! A wildlife center is taking care of her now.
美國一個城市，有人在街上找到一隻狐狸寶寶。目前野生動物中心在照顧牠。
The wildlife center's workers don't want the baby fox to get used to people. Foxes that are used to people can't live with wild foxes.
野生動物中心的工作人員不想要狐狸寶寶熟悉人類，這樣牠才能跟其他野生狐狸生活。
But foxes aren't good pets. They need lots of space… and fresh raw meat! It's better for baby foxes to stay wild.
狐狸不適合當寵物，因為牠們需要很多空間跟新鮮的生肉，最好還是讓狐狸寶寶待在野外。
But the workers are around this baby fox all the time. So… they wear fox masks! The workers want her to think they are foxes too!
但是工作人員整天跟這隻狐狸寶寶在一起，於是他們戴上狐狸面具，讓牠覺得他們也是狐狸。
A stuffed fox toy is her mother. When the workers feed her, she lies on the toy. It makes her feel safe.
牠的媽媽是狐狸外形的填充玩具。工作人員在餵牠時，都把牠放在媽媽身上，讓牠安心。
Soon she'll live with three other wild baby foxes. She'll learn how to find food. She'll learn how to stay away from danger. She'll learn how to be with other wild animals.
過不久牠就會和另外三隻野生狐狸寶寶住在一起。牠會學習如何覓食、如何遠離危險、如何跟其他野生動物一起生活。
One day, she'll live in a forest or grassland. That's where she belongs!
