The local Tiger Bay Wetlands are a magnet for birdwatchers. Nearby one of the largest semi-permanent wetlands in south eastern Australia is the Macquarie Marshes, with extensive areas of reed, cumbungi, river red gum, coolibah and water couch grasslands, supporting over 200 bird species.
