Dr. Fernandez shares his institutional experience with this novel approach to abdominal compressions during resuscitation of high-risk infants and how this modified CPR might serve as a unique alternative to traditional chest compressions.

Join host Lillian Su, MD (Phoenix Children's Hospital) as she interviews Christine Riley, NP, CPNP-AC, PhD (Children's National Healthcare System) about building infrastructure in teams and systems to help prevent cardiac arrest in our most fragile CVICU patients. She discusses early work in DC in the cardiac arrest prevention bundle initially designed as a post cardiopulmonary bypass bundle and how sustainable success only came when the entire team was engaged in the process, particularly the crucial role of the bedside nurse. She also discusses her PhD work on overwhelming stress states and their role in cardiac arrest.
