It’s been rumoured for the last week and Nintendo has just confirmed it. A Nintendo Direct will be happening tonight at midnight AEST). This is a bull blown Nintendo Direct and not a mini or a partner showcase, which should make for some good announcements. It will last 40 minutes and will “mostly” focus on games coming to Nintendo Switch this Holiday.

Ubisoft held a Ubisoft Forward event yesterday announcing a bunch of new Assassin's Creed games and updates for other titles. Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is set set in Baghdhad and it’s described as a tribute to early Assassin’s Creed games. It takes things back to where it all started with the game being a narrative driven action adventure game that focuses on parkour and stealth assassinations, without the many RPG elements that were featured in Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla.

PlayStation has not only announced the three PlayStation Plus Essential titles but announced 14 new games for PlayStation Plus Extra/Deluxe including the likes of Deathloop and Syphon Filter 2/Toy Story 3 in the way of classic games. The PlayStation Plus Essential games will be available on September 6th whilst the Extra/Deluxe games will be available on September 20th.

It has been revealed by Japanese retailers that Sony will release a third PS5 model in the coming weeks, with the new CFI-1200 model set to launch in Japan on September 15th (the same day of the price hike in Japan). We don’t have concrete information about what this new model will add/change, but it’s been speculated that an upcoming PS5 model will use a new AMD 6nm chipset.

A PS5 price increase is effective immediately in Australia and other markets around the world due to the “global economic environment” PlayStation has confirmed in an official blog post. Prices are bumping up about $50 for both the disc drive and digital versions of the PlayStation 5. The new prices are : $799.95 AUD for the PS5 with disc drive and $649.95 for the PS5 Digital Edition.

Another Geoff Keighley event is done and dusted kicking off Gamescom with Opening Night Live. PlayStation took to the stage to officially announce the DualSense Edge which is a wireless Pro controller for PS5. The new DualSense Edge controller has customisable controls, changeable stick caps, back buttons, the ability to customise things such travel distance for triggers and also the ability to save controls for each game.

Amazon has gone on a leak frenzy. After already inadvertently revealing the title and release date of the new Tales From the Borderlands, it’s also dropped a Dead Island 2 bombshell. Yep, the game that most people would have considered vapourware by this stage has finally re-surfaced and is gearing up for a release very soon. The listing has revealed that Deep Silver’s long-gestating Dead Island 2 is coming on February 3, 2023 to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

A new Tales of the Borderlands game was teased earlier this year, but now all of the details have leaked in an Amazon listing ahead of its presumed reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live. According to the Amazon listing, the game is simply titled ‘New Tales From The Borderlands’ and it will release on October 21st for all major console platforms. The game is being developed by Gearbox internally and will feature a new cast of characters as well as a whole new story.

They are: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 (PS5/PS4) Yakuza: Like A Dragon (PS5/PS4) Little Nightmares (PS4) It's also been announced that 8 Yakuza games are coming to PlayStation Plus in August and throughout the rest of 2022. --- Nintendo has announced that the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 2 will be releasing on August 4th.

PlayStation has revealed the latest update for PlayStation VR2 which includes the user interface and how you can expect the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers to interact whilst you’re wearing the headset. Whilst you’re using the new PlayStation VR2 headset, PlayStation has confirmed you’ll be able to see your surroundings thanks to a new feature called See Through which uses the cameras on the headset to quickly show you your surroundings, as well as quick settings.
