  • Deanna Mayza ('13 Hill School) had an incredible high school career, as she graduated as the all-time leading scorer in basketball (1,222 points) and soccer (67 goals) in three years at The Hill School!  She led her team to two league championships and two state championships, while receiving First Team All Area and First Team All Conference honors.  Deanna was also named the Pottstown Mercury Player of the Year in 2011-12.   She took her talents to the University of Hartford where she was the first player in program history to record 1.000-plus career points (1,222) and 300-plus assists (476).  Deanna closed out her career ranked eighth in scoring, second in assists, fourth in three-point field goals made (160), fourth in free-throw percentage (.784) and seventh in free throws made (258).  Deanna set the single-season record for assists (170 – 2014-15) and minutes played (1,166 – 2014-15).  She was named to the All Conference and All Academic teams during her time at Hartford.  After college, Deanna played professionally in Denmark and Lithuania.  She currently coaches at the Hill School! 

  • Khalif Wyatt, a 2009 Graduate of Norristown HS, enjoyed an incredible high school career filled with many amazing accomplishments.  As a junior, Khalif led the Eagles to a 33-2 finish on the way to the district and state championship games.  He is one of the best players in the history of Norristown High School, being named to the PA All State team for two seasons.  Khalif then took his talents to Temple University where he scored nearly 1600 points, averaging 17ppg as a junior and 20ppg as a senior.  He shot 45% from field, 83% from the foul line, dished out 300 assists and grabbed 300 rebounds.  After earning a spot on the Atlantic 10 Second Team as a junior, Khalif exploded as a senior, being named Atlantic 10 and Big Five Player of the year.  He enjoyed incredible performances in the NCAA tournament, scoring 31 in a win over NC State and 31 in a tough loss to Victor Oladipo and Indiana.  Upon graduation, Khalif played for the Sixers in the NBA summer league.  He then transitioned into a prolific pro career at the highest of levels playing in China, Isreal, Phillipines, France and the D League.   More recently, Khalif played for "Team Brotherly Love in "The Basketball Tournament", which is a hoops tournament featuring some of the best players in the country who are not currently NBA players.   Khalif also started his own clothing brand M SPORT, which is a lifestyle apparel and training company (https://www.m-sportco.com/). 

  • Fletcher Magee is a 2015 Graduate of the FIRST ACADEMY in Orlando FLORIDA where he was 3 Sport Athlete playing basketball, golf and football.  In basketball, he was All Area, All State, 3A Player of the Year, District Player of the Year which led him to a Division 1 scholarship at Wofford University.  At Wofford, Fletcher became the best 3 pt shooter in the history of COLLEGE BASKETBALL!! He had an incredible collegiate career, earning Rookie of the Year, averaging 14ppg shooting 48%from 3!  He continued to shine over the next three years: Sophomore (19ppg) Junior (22ppg/43% from 3), Senior Year (20ppg).  He surpassed Stephen Curry for the all-time leader in made 3-pointers in SoCon history en route to passing J.J. Redick, Travis Bader and others for most career 3-pointers with 509, while scoring over 2500 points. Finished career with a 90.8 free-throw percentage which ranks first at Wofford.  Fletcher shot 45.7 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from 3-point range for his career (1st all-time at Wofford).  Upon graduating, had multiple tryouts with NBA teams and played on the BUCKS summer league team.  He then transitioned into a pro career at the highest of levels this year in ACB- top league in Spain and continued to excel.   • Kevin Small has been the head coach at Ursinus College for the past 20 years.  In that time, he has built an incredible program leading the Bears to four Centennial Conference Championships, a Final Four appearance, and many successful seasons.  A two-time NABC Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year, he was honored in 2008 by the Philadelphia Small College Coaches Association as the Sam Cozen Coach of the Year. Small's teams have also been honored five times by the College Basketball Officials Association with the association's Sportsmanship award (2003, 05, 06 and 08) and won the Schoenfeld National CBOA Sportsmanship Award in 2006 and again in 2019.  Before stopping in Collegeville full-time, Small had coaching experience in the Centennial serving as an assistant at Haverford (1991-94) and Ursinus (1994-97), and also served on the staff at Swarthmore (1997-99). He has served as chair of the Centennial Conference men's basketball committee, on the ECAC men's basketball selection committee, and on the NCAA men's basketball championship selection committee.  

  • Mike Poysden has been the head boys basketball coach at Perkiomen Valley HS since 2012.   Since then, Mike has totally reignited the PV Hoops program, winning the PAC 10 Championship in his first season as head coach, and then again in 2017.  Regarded as one of the best basketball coaches in our area, Mike has led the team to numerous upsets, including an incredible Roman Catholic team in 2017 that featured a handful of high level Division 1 players.  Mike shares his hoop journey and some of the ways he maximizes talent through his coaching style and philosophy.  This episode features some amazing teaching points for coaches, players and educators!  Enjoy! 

  • Shoot to Make Podcast Episode #34 with Archbishop Wood Head Boys Basketball Coach John Mosco. Coach Mosco has had an incredible impact on Philadelphia Catholic Basketball for over two decades. John was a longtime assistant coach at Neumann Goretti HS with the legendary Carl Arrigale where they led the team to amazing levels of success capturing countless Catholic League titles and numerous State Titles. John took over Archbishop Wood in 2013 and has transformed the program into a perennial powerhouse. Named Head coach at Archbishop Wood HS in 2013. A school known for their football and girls basketball, John has truly revamped this program and made them one of the best programs in the state. Under his leadership, the Vikings captured the 2017 Catholic League and PIAA 5A State Title, while also recently being named the TEAM OF THE DECADE by many local media outlets. They continued their winning ways, capturing the the District 12 title in 2018. Coached countless players who went to play collegiately and professionally, including Villanova University star point guard Collin Gillespie. John has been named PIAA State Coach of the year, Catholic Coach of the Year and was selected to coach the NIKE GLOBAL CHALLENGE Team in Chicago, which is a tournament featuring the top HS players in the world.   • A three-time Associated Press Coach of the Year, Lower Merion High School Head Coach Gregg Downer has been named “Best Basketball Coach in Pennsylvania” by USA Today and has amassed more than 600 career victories, three state championships, 17 league titles and a 70% winning percentage. More than 70 of Downer’s players have gone on to play basketball at the college and professional levels, including NBA MVP Kobe Bryant ‘96. Downer is an inductee in three sports hall of fames in Pennsylvania and is among the most successful youth coaches in the United States. Before his passing, Bryant called Downer “one of the best coaches I have ever had.”

  • Ronald Moore is one of the greatest players in the history of Plymouth Whitemarsh HS and one of the best point guards in the history of Sienna College.  After a prolific collegiate career (leading the entire NCAA in assists), Ronald took his talents overseas and has played at the highest of levels in Europe.  Here are a few of his highlights: 

    - 2006 Graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh HS

         -Scored nearly 1200 points

         -AVG 17 pts, 8 assists, 2 steals senior year

         -Led team to incredible 28-3 record

         -Led PW to 3 consecutive SOL Championships

         -All Conference, All State

    o 2010 Graduate of Sienna College

         -Scored over 1000 points

         -Started all but 5 games in 4 years

         -Set School and League records with an astounding 823 assists! Which ranks him in the top 25 in the history of Division 1

          -First Team All MAC

          -Led the entire NCAA Division I in assists during the season with 261 assists (7.7 per game)

         -Has played at the highest of levels in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Italy, France.

  • Coach Dave Love is considered one of the best shooting coaches in the game!  He has worked with countless NBA players including: Aaron Gordon, Tristan Thompson, Elfrid Payton, Dewayne Dedmon, and Bismack Biyombo, all of whom shot career highs in their time with him.  He was the shooting coach for the Pheonix Suns in 2009-10.   During the 2013-14, Coach Love was hired by the Cleveland Cavs to help Tristan Thompson switch from left to right handed and he shot a career high that year!  In the 2014-15 season, Coach Love was hired by Orland Magic to help Aaron Gordon, who improved 30% from the free throw line in his rookie season compared to his previous year in college.  Coach runs countless shooting clinics for youth/HS and collegiate players all over the world! He is hired by many NBA teams and agents to work with their players.  Enjoy! 

  • Dave Hopla is considered one of the Greatest Shooters in the history of basketball!.  Coach Hopla played professional basketball overseas for many successful seasons before becoming an NBA shooting coach.  He coached with Raptors, Wizards, Knicks and Pistons, as well as countless NBA stars including Kobe Bryant and Ray Allen!  Coach Hopla once made 1,234 free throws in a row, and 211 three pointers in a row! He has spoken at camps all over the world and has made 98% of his shots in the thousands lectures/demonstrations/clinics.  Legendary NBA coach George Karl once called coach “The greatest shooter in the universe”!  Enjoy! 

  • In this episode, John Griffin (Assistant Coach at St. Joseph's University) takes our listeners through his extensive hoop journey!  A 2004 graduate of St. Joe's Prep, John had an incredible career, as he led the Hawks to a Catholic Title while averaging 15ppg and earning First Team All Catholic and All City Honors.  John then took his talents to Bucknell University where he became one of the best 3 pt shooters in the history of the school, finishing with 220 triples.  John scored over 1000 points and appeared in 2 NCAA tournaments, one being the team that upset Kansas!  He then took his game overseas where he played in Germany, Slovakia, England and Italy.  After retiring as a player, John jumped right into coaching in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers.  He then spent time as an assistant coach at Rider University and Bucknell.  John just finished his first season as assistant coach at St. Joseph's University.  Enjoy! 

  • Mike Evans was an All State HS basketball player at Weston HS in Connecticut.   After HS, he went on to play at Hamilton College, where he set multiple 3 pt shooting records.  Mike then used his success at Hamilton to play professional basketball for 2 years in Belfast, Ireland.  While in Ireland, Mike was not only dedicated to the game of basketball but also dedicated to creating a more accepting environment in a place that had plenty of trouble at the time. Serving essentially a Sports Diplomat, Mike pioneered basketball programs to unite Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland.  He used this model to serve similar needs in communities such as Havana/Cuba, Jaurez/Mexico, Dominican Republic, an Indian reservation in Wyoming as well as the poverty stricken neighborhoods in Connecticut!  Mike was an assistant coach at Harvard University, where he obtained his Masters in Education.  Mike runs a private shooting company called Right Angle Shooting; where he works with some great players including NBA player Jakar Simpson.  He has had an incredible impact on the game of basketball as well as global peace and justice.  He is the Executive Director and founder of FULL COURT PEACE, which is a non-profit organization that unites communities through the game of basketball.   https://www.fullcourtpeace.org/

  • Addie Micir had a prolific all-around athletic career at Council Rock North, starring in basketball, field hockey and lacrosse.  On the court, Addie surpassed 1,500 points, 600 rebounds and 300 assists in her career, while being named All-State and a McDonald's All-American nominee!  Addie took her talents to Princeton University where she led the Tigers back to back Ivy League titles!  At Princeton, Addie scored over 1000 pts, 400 rebs, shot 41% from three making 240 and was a 3-time all-league selection!  In her senior season, Addie was a unanimous Ivy League Player of the Year.  She then transitioned her college success into the professional level, as she played in Luxembourg and the Netherlands.  Addie has since served as an assistant coach at Dartmouth for five seasons and is currently the associate head coach at Lehigh University!   • Dustin Salisbery enjoyed a prolific career at McCaskey HS in Lancaster.  Scoring just under 2000 career points, Dustin was a 4 year starter and averaged 22ppg 8 rebs and 4 assists as a senior.  His success earned him First Team All Conference, First Team All County and First Team All State!  Dustin took his talents to Temple University, where he played for 2 coaching legends in John Chaney and Fran Dunphy.  Dustin scored over 1300 points and had over 500 rebounds, while averaging 16 pts and 5 rebs as a senior.  He then transitioned into a professional career, featuring seasons in the D-League, France, Iceland, Dominican Republic, Austrailia, England, Germany, Mexico, Romania, Tunisia and Greece!  Dustin currently serves as an assistant coach at La Academia Charter in Lancaster.

  • Drew Hanlen is considered one of the best NBA Skill Trainers in the world.  He has worked with Joel Embid, Jason Tatum, Zach Lavine, Bradley Beal, Gordon Hayward, Mo Bamba, Zion Williamson and many more!  Drew enjoyed a prolific HS hoop career at Webster Groves HS in Missouri, scoring over 1600 points while setting school records in assists and steals.  Drew then took his talents to Belmont University, where had a great career starting every game junior/senior year, scoring nearly 900 points and dishing 450 assists.  Drew shares his hoop journey and the steps he took to enhance his game.  Drew also shares insight into what the best players do to improve at their craft!  Enjoy! 

  • SHOOT TO MAKE PODCAST EPISODE 24 with STEVE VASTURIA! Steve is one of the best players in the history of the Philadelphia Catholic League, starring at St. Joseph's Prep.  Steve scored nearly 1,800 points and was a 2-time Catholic League MVP!  Steve was the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year and is the only player in the history of the Prep to have his jersey retired.  Steve took his talents to the University of Notre Dame and continued to shine, as he is only the second player in ND history to score 1000 points, post 300 assists, and shoot over 85% from the free throw line.  Set the single season FT % at 91%.  Steve has been playing professional basketball overseas for the past three seasons in Spain and Germany.  Enjoy!

  • Sean Yoder is one of the best players in the history of the Suburban One Continental Conference, as he starred four years at Pennridge HS. Averaging 20 ppg as a senior, Sean broke the school’s scoring record finishing just shy of 1500 points.  He led the team to a conference championship and a 2nd place finish in the PIAA State Tournament. Sean just finished his Freshman Year at the US Naval Academy, where he played 15 min per game.  He shares his experiences from both Pennridge HS and this past year at Navy.  Enjoy!
