Final episode... ?... yes, it is. Cold Opens Mashup.

    Q&A

Darrek Workman - How does the ritual to become a coimeadai in the court of shadows affect the awakened? Can a coimeadai be awakened? The book isn't clear. In shadowrun cannon through the years there has been an effort to keep magic magical and the matrix technological, hence technomancers cannot also be awakened. It's always been one or the other allowing the player characters to have different roles in a group. CFD has broken from this principle and I was wondering if the court of shadows did too. Ross D’Souza - If you had to have a single piece of 'ware (cyber- or bio-), what would you have? (I'd probably go for cybereyes - mine are shoddy and the thought of having AR excites me

    Q&A

Martin Ackerton - Hi Bobby and Cassie. I am a somewhat new GM. My group is really getting into Shadowrun, but we've avoided having a matrix character in the group. The players are either uninterested or daunted by the rules. One of my players wants to do the decking, but is afraid that they are going to steal the spotlight too much. How can include a matrix character in their runs without bringing the action to a halt for everyone else and causing them to resent the matrix? Paul McBride - What do you think about having a decker and a technomancer on the same team? Can they work well without overlapping too much? If so, how do they compliment each other?

    Q&A

Ross D'Souza- Some of my players have really high edge and never have much use of them. I'm wondering about introducing other uses of them to give them more options, any ideas? An idea I thought about was a minor "plot point" like use similar to SR Anarchy (or Fate's Fate points). alightgrift- as life continues to imitate art, in the case of the Shadowrun setting and our own, has it changed the way you think about or interact with the game?

BOBBY - Wendy's rebuttal BROOKE - Rusty Zimmerman fandom kept her in Shadowrun.

    Q&A

Lazlo Zingo (PATRON) - The last sentence of Killing Hands says,"Your Killing Hands attacks are magical, so they can bypass a creature’s magical defenses against attack, such as the Immunity to Normal Weapons power, and may be used by adepts with Astral Perception during astral combat."
    1. Are there other "magical defenses against attack" besides Immunity to Normal Weapons that Killing Hands bypasses?
It says "such as" so that implies there is more than one power it bypasses. The critter power of Regeneration seems to be another. Are there others? Mystic Armor?
    2. How does Killing Hands help during Astral Combat?
The final line "may be used by adepts with Astral Perception during astral combat." What would that accomplish? Normal Astral Combat allows the combatant to choose stun or physical already. [Core page 315 - Damage inflicted from astral combat can be either Stun or Physical (attacker’s choice).] My group is considering allowing the power to let the Adept use their physical attributes instead of mental during Astral Combat. Thoughts?

    Q&A

Ross D’Souza (PATRON) - The rulebooks are generally centred around the American continent and hence also the stats are focused with that in mind. Would you change or tweak anything if you were basing a campaign in a different place? What areas would you consider and think about.

I was wondering on your opinions as I've just started running a game (first Shadowrun GMing! - so many rules!) based around the London Sprawl and Cambridge (as we are all British). We decided to tweak the weapon availability ratings as weapons in UK are currently pretty much illegal and we wanted to continue this feeling through to the Sixth World. So we've bumped up non-R-availability weapons to R-availability weapons, and R-availability weapons to F-availability weapons (with a couple exceptions in line with current British law). Of course this applies to the nationally run areas, and extraterratoriality of the relevant corps are exempt - but if you're totting guns around a corp area, you'd have other problems. Also it's not like underground organisations and shady areas don't have them. It's just above board, it's cracked down upon a lot more and their reactions are more appropriate with that in mind. John Schleiber - In one of my groups, I have a player who's very opposed to the whole direction the metaplot of Shadowrun has been taking. This player is a transplanted Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0 player, and only plays technological-based characters -- deckers, riggers and the like. He doesn't want anything to do with magic personally, and he's very unhappy that Shadowrun seems to push the magic angle of the metaplot. He'd like to see a return to more technology-oriented metaplot elements, but he's losing hope of that happening.

I'm wondering if any of you have played with characters like this, who are recalcitrant to accepting the mix of elements in the game to the point of stubbornness, and how you'd work to either change their minds on the concept, or at least work their objections into your runs.

    News / Stuff

Join the Anarchy finale New Shadowcasters Network stream schedule for November.

    Q&A

TJ Payne (PATRON) - First, I feel like the best way to get your hands on a new rpg system is to play with people better than you. Are there any places to join in runs with some people who can show me the ropes without my presence impeding on their own experience? I've done 3 sessions with my buddies so far, and while we're having a great time, I'm still confused as drek with a good 99% of the game, all the way to double checking dodge and soak rules every fight, or just discovering we were doing initiative wrong (and still probably are), and the last thing I want to do is hop onto ShadowNet or RunnerHub and slow people down.

Second, where is a good place to purchase pdfs for the game? I've always used books for all my rpgs, but since Catalyst has... Well... "Catalyst problems", the need for an errata and index is huge. I sort of remembered hearing that the pdfs get errata updated, or am I totally crazy? Joseph Carey - Hello Folks. I'm pretty new to Shadowrun and have noticed that across games a lot of players and GM's seem to abide pretty closely to the setting's lore (particularly compared to D&D). Is this typical to games you've played? What makes the history and setting so integral to Shadowrun? Have you ever messed around with major plot elements, factions, or major events? Keep up the great work and best of luck with the shadowcaster's network.

Ross D’Souza - When you cast improved invisibility on a character, what does this look like in astral space? (from what I understand they look bright due to the spell cast) Therefore is there a way of being sneaking in both real world and astral at the same time via spells? Ross D’Souza - With astral signatures, I understand that when you cast you leave a signature that can be traced unless it's cleaned. So with a fireball, there's a signature that's left in astral space for X hours unless cleaned. What happens when the target of a spell can move, e.g. invisibility? Does the signature follow or stay where the spell was originally cast, or something else?

    Q&A

Daniel Barkum - How do you handle distance when out comes to hosts? When I read the description in the core rulebook it says that hosts have no physical location, but that on the matrix it seems to have a location related to a physical one but with a distance to the "ground" related to its importance. That doesn't really make sense to me though. Distance increases the noise, so the more important a host is the higher the noise rating will be for anyone to get in? Seems a bit harsh… Cory Barnes - Hey Bobby, Cassie, and anyone else out there, I hope all is well in your lives. I want to preface my question with a brief background, I've been a consistent listener to many podcasts (most of which are shadowrun related) and have thoroughly enjoyed the content you guys and all of the other shadowcasters put out there, I have always dabbled with the idea of getting into radio/podcasting/recording and well you guys have really inspired me with the amount of "success" the shadowcasters community has been getting. Can you explain what is actually going on with this? I know that it is part of the Boston Lock Down and that it is probably connected to a dragon that is also an E-Ghost. Scott Flowers - Do you use house rule the crash rules and if so, how do you house rule them? Eric Lesage - What house rule have you implemented that you find has had the most positive impact on your game? Although mechanical short cuts are usually a good thing in SR(ie. Stephen Atkins -
I live in a small town after living in big cities for most of my life. We're lucky enough to have a real gaming store here where MTG and Warhammer are the biggest games. The only two RPG's available in the store are Pathfinder and DnD 5e which is no surprise. I've been a runner since 2nd ed but retired when 3rd came out. A couple (or three) moves later I find my self here and wanted to start a local group.

Since most people here have never even heard of shadow run I'm looking for a couple of good canned runs I can put a new group who have never played before. Of course there is "Fast Food Fight" and I'll use that the first night but I'm a little lost on what to do next. I really like the idea of using the Missions. Would something like Splintered State be a good starting point? Of course all of this is some what conditional on the type of players I can find and how many.

    Keith King (PATRON) -
To jump into a rigged device that you don’t own or you don’t have permission from the owner you need
    1. The drone to have a rigger adaption
    2. You need to have a control rig
    3. You need to have 3 marks
    4. You need to pass the Electronic Warfare + Logic [Data Processing] v Willpower + Firewall test
    5. Finally, no one is already currently jumped into the device.

How does a pure rigger get the 3 marks need to complete the Jump into Rigged device action into an enemy drone?

I have read that you can get sleaze and attack attributes can be added through the info in data trails, but this is a CRB matrix action so I assume there is another way.

The only other way is (according to the forums) a controversial way using a friendly decker to use spoof command "invite mark" to allow the riggers RCC to gain the required 3 marks. BUT given spoof command “making the device think that your command is a legitimate one from its owner” is the Electronic Warfare test even needed?
    Lots of audience questions...

Chris Vandergriff (PATRON) - We all hear nightmarish stories about the "horrors", and how some were trapped on this metaplane when the magic waned. What about the angelic forms? Is there a plane from which one could summon a Planatar or Solar (both D&D trademarks of Wizzards of the Coast)? Keith King (PATRON) - I have a rigger in my gaming group that always runs his roadmaster im offline mode whilst connected with a DNI in the safety of a his cocoon. This is partly to protect the vehicle from deckers but also his RCC. Currently the penalty for running in this mode is he can't wirelessly control any of his other drones. As the RCC is offline obviously. But the only real penalty I can apply to the road master is that offline he can't utilize and maps to navigate with. This means in a car chase if traveling to a specific destination I rule that another player has to be on their commlink yelling out directions (using both simple and complex actions). I was wondering as fellow gm's do you a) allow riggers to run vehicles they are plugged into offline and b) of so what penalties do you apply for doing so. As we all know "everything has its price".

Given this week is about magic, I have an aura question. Mainly how far does an aura extend past the body. As a GM I would rule that full body armour would still have a bit of aura extending past it, but what about a rigger in his cacoon or the mystery figure in thick robes or even the ganger leaning on the closed door in front of you or the Bandersnatch in the thick bushes/behind a tree in front of you. Where would you draw the line for an automatic success.
I understand there are various ways to modify how you aura is viewed through metamagic I was speaking purely from a detection standpoint. Chris Vandergriff (PATRON) - Catalyst has been doing a great job with the sourcebooks. Why has it been so difficult to get new novels?
