The Epilogue episode of Season 1, in which Chris and Jordan recap their thoughts on the entirety of the Big Shiny Tunes compilation series and lower the casket on the following topics:
Their favourite compilation and top 3 songs, their least favourite compilation and bottom 3 songs, what it felt like looking back on these years as a whole, what it was like submerging oneself into these songs during a global pandemic and, of course, the Washington Avenue Grill.
Big Shiny Podcast will return in a few months with something new. Enjoy your summer and vaccinations.
P.S. The ambient music sprinkled throughout comes from some sketches Graham Van Pelt uploaded to his youtube.

In this last of meeting places we gripe together
14 years and this is how MuchMusic decided to end things.
The Horror. The Horror.
Remember this compilation-if at all-not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow songs of men
This is the way the Compilation ends

After nearly 200 songs of questionable integrity and meaning, we have finally arrived at our penultimate episode covering 2008's Big Shiny Tunes.
Unlucky number 13?
We hang on, hope against hope, that the programmers at Much will find someway to redeem us, not only for the cultural mess they made, but for giving David Draiman yet another platform to gurgle his necrophilic suicide fantasies into thine ear.

Alright gang, get ready for the antepenultimate episode of the Big Shiny Tunes compilation series.
Do the programmers turn it around in these last three episodes? Will MuchMusic allow more than one slot for women on their compilation, considering it's 2007?
Is Finger Eleven's 'Paralyzer' the Necronomicon of music?
All answers lay waiting for you within, but tread carefully lest you awaken Mariana's Trench, or something...

Welcome to Big Shiny Tunes 11. No matter how good you may have felt about life in 2006, you could always count on Jared Leto popping up with a 30 Seconds To Mars virus and bringing your fancy dreams back down to unfamous reality.

2005: a great year for Chris and Jordan, a terrible year for MuchMusic song choices.
One of the worst songs of all time happens to appear on this compilation. Shouldn't be hard to guess which.

2004: We're gonna let this episode do most of the talking but Jesus H. Cripes - Franz Ferdinand? The Killers?
A not completely awful Tea Party song? What is going on here?!
Huge Thanks to Frankie Muniz for filling in for Jordan during the Intros and Outros this week.
Here's the playlist

Weirdly, the Tea Party song isn't on there (the whole album is missing from Spotify) so here's the video link:

And less surprisingly, Pilate (Pilot Speed) isn't on there either

Load up some 20x "Magic Mint" and get ready for a bizarre trip down the blackhole of Memory-Lame.
This episode we got Sam Roberts, Theory of a Deadman, Nickleback, Trapt, All-American Rejects and the transcendentally awful fusion of Reggae and Nu-Metal courtesy of Newmarket, Ontario's finest: The Salads.
How did things ever get this bad? Is this actually for real?
Why does it seem like the compilation is mocking you, the listener, who dared to listen to it?
We uncover all that...and more!
Sincerely,
Big Shiny Podcast
P.S. We are definitely not a PsyOp and definitely not promoting Salvia usage

A watershed compilation for a watershed year. If you were alive in 2001 and a person with empathy, then you know this year sucked all around! As a result of the year and the songs that appeared on here, this episode is particularly epic.
Same goes for this edition of Big Shiny Tunes! Epically ridiculous! One amazing song, a couple good ones, and a bonafide bouquet of jaw-droppingly terrible songs. So horrible it’s hilarious!
Kid Rock Auto-Tune? - Check
Jeff Martin going Full-Orchestra Goth? Check
David Usher ripping off Oasis? Check
Fred Durst winning everything in life but still being a whine-gorilla? Check and CHECK.
Good thing we all learned our lessons 20 years later and have deescalated war, cleaned up our planet and figured out how to not make bad song anymore.

The year: 2000
The vibe: Toxic Masculinity
A lot of ground is covered in this episode of Big Shiny Podcast as we discuss the ominous stirrings of the music industry and MuchMusic's decision to pander to bummed out dudes.
Whether it's the proto-incel whinings of J. Englisman or Wheatus, the post-heroin yawns of STP or RHCP, the Jingoist anthems of 3 Doors Down, or the Joe Rogan Gorilla-Vibes of Limp Bizkit and Disturbed - one question keeps getting asked over and over again: Why?

The only missing song is track 17. More by J. Englishman but you can watch the music video for it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcb6kZN4h5E

In this episode of Big Shiny Podcast, we examine the 4th volume in the series, released in 1999, peak of new millennium hysteria.
Some people said Y2K was bigger than The Beatles!
Remember when Prince thought this year was gonna be a party, though? Well, for the most part, the artists in this compilation are the ones who didn't get invited to the funtime rager because: they were banned for being jerks, or hated people too much, or were gonna go but decided they'd rather brood sipping absinthe instead (we're looking at you Jeff Martin!).
This is the moment in the compilation series when you realize that your parachute failed you - the ever faithful listener - and you begin your 10 year long descent toward the cold unforgiving end.
The new attitude at Much Headquarters as the century drew to a close: cynical, entitled, whiny and 99% Male. Why? Because apparently the good folk at MuchMusic saw a lot of money in it or something? That's what we're trying to figure out.
There are still a few bonafide jams on here however - and, as always, Chris and Jordan will help guide you through the many lows with some jokes and tokes.
