It was very special to catch up with Hugh to have a chat about how he has been over the past year or so, where his focus has been and his plan over the next few months as he has struggled to come back to form, and potentially turn professional later this year.

Welcome to The Bogey Men golf podcast, this is the first episode in a 24 episode series showcasing some of the incredible Amateur golf across Ireland this year.
In this first episode I am joined by Garry Murphy, a man who’s done more mileage that most golfers and does a stellar job in keeping track on every Irish amateur golfer across the globe.
We discuss what the 2024 season looks like for amateur golf in Ireland, which events he is most looking forward to and what makes amateur golf in Ireland so special and the cultural relationship we have with golf in this little country.
The Bogey Men will also be bringing you closer to the action even if you can’t attend some of these tournaments in person.
We will be live streaming the final rounds of the East of Ireland Championship, The Men’s & Women’s AIG Close Amateur Championships and the AIG Cups and Shields Finals.

The PGA disappoints for another week as these Signature Events feel anything but elevated, with Tiger withdrawing, Jordan getting DQ'd and none of the fan favourites performing it was set to be a lacklustre Sunday, but Hideki Matsuyama stormed to victory in his Sunday Yellow and adds the Genesis Invitational to his list of impressive tour victories.

A brand-new links golf course 28 years in the making is finally getting closer to fruition in southeast Ireland.
Shovels are breaking ground this week on Curracloe Links, a Dana Fry and Jason Straka design that will debut in 2026.
Dana and Jason joined Jonny on the podcast for a brief discussion around the inspiration behind the course, their ambition and love of Irish golf and plenty more.
We'll be doing some more pieces with Dana and Jason during their construction on what might be the last new links golf course to be built in Ireland.
The 6,600-yard, par-70 golf course will be a part of the new Ravenport Resort, a luxury hotel with 50 rooms, a spa and leisure club in Wexford. Ravenport Resort, overlooking Ireland's most famous beach, Curracloe Beach, where Steven Spielberg filmed the opening scene in the film "Saving Private Ryan."
A ridge divides the 160-acre property. Some holes offer sea views, while others stare off into the beautiful Irish countryside. It's very walkable land. Water will come into play on the first and 18th holes, which is rare - but not unheard of - for an Irish links.
"One of my favorite parts of the property doesn't even have the water views," Straka said. "It is surrounded by sheep farms. It is quintessential Ireland with a backdrop of the rock walls and sheep everywhere. You definitely have a sense of place. It's geared toward fun, resort-style golf and tourism. We're not looking to host the Irish Open. That is not what this is all about."
