  • When I first started doing cold outreach, I was working with a non-profit group through a school program, launching a Touch a Truck event near JMU in the Shenandoah Valley. Many people don't know this, but in that location, there are a lot of refugee and immigrant families relocated because there tends to be many work opportunities. For this reason, it is important to share with the refugee and immigrant youth how they can work and find paying jobs.

I was given the opportunity to be the community organizer for this event. My job was to source the trucks and professionals to attend the event. It was a lot of cold calling, as this was the first event of this scale that the community had run yet. I started quickly after the project was launched, which was a month or two out from the event. I began with Google, gathering my list, and honestly just began calling, to let the people know the dates and, of course, find out if they would be willing to show up and share about their jobs with their work trucks.

For the weeks following, I decided to follow up every other week, to again make sure the commitments were solid. The thought of having tons of kids there without people to share information with them, terrified me. A few times people stopped calling me back, maybe even got upset with me on the phone, but I just kept going. It was for the kids right?

Flash forward to the event. My professor was shocked at how great it turned out. Our marketing team had blasted the event all over town, and there were so many kids and people there. It was a success, and I was really happy. Then I knew, maybe this was something I should be doing more of.

  • Do you have health struggles? There was a time in my life that I was scared to go to my doctor to hear that I needed medication daily to help. I wanted to be an advocate for myself to find the root cause and not just accept taking medication for the rest of my life. After talking with Dr. Julie, I am so inspired that she has come out on the other side of her health struggles and is now helping women get to the root cause of their health issues and allow healing and prevention. Having her on your side, to provide guidance and support is invaluable.

I have been so inspired by @dr.julielynn’s story which she’ll be sharing this week during the latest episode of ‘The End in Mind.’ She became her biggest health advocate and is now living chronic pain-free. And the best part? She now provides an incredible service that creates a safe space for women who are looking to get back in touch with their bodies and prevent chronic pain and issues.

  • When building your business online, have you thought about or been open to working with others overseas?

A few years back, I was direct messaging with one of my dear friends now, @kristinartodorova. She and I were talking about ways to work together as well as ways to expand and promote one another. And I left the call feeling so excited! I felt like I had broken into a new market in England and this would be the start of a relationship that would continue to expand into the future.

Little did I know, fast forward a few months, Kristina would be founding the @wearecocreated Hub. We would be connecting many other business owners from around the world, and I would have the pleasure of co-founding this community with her.

When some people get into business they think they will make money fast, have quick wins, and they’re ready to walk away when a few relationships don't end up working out how they had hoped. I have learned many things from my friendship with Kristina, and one of them was to allow space and time for ideas to flow, and growth will come naturally; collaboration will flow smoothly when the time is right.

  • A few weeks ago, I met this amazing woman, @claire.uncapher, and she and I hit it off pretty quickly. What I loved about her approach to what she does is she’s all about the root cause, which I really resonate with.

For most people that know me personally, you all know I am an open book. I believe vulnerability can lead us to discovering root causes, which is why it is such a big part of what I do when it comes to my own marketing.

Claire offered to share more about her Body Speak Process, and I was immediately intrigued. When we are able to connect with where emotions may be tense in our bodies, I have found that this is an easier way to move through those emotions with minimal suffering.

And on this week’s End in Mind episode, you will get to hear what I was able to uncover and work through with Claire live time. Have you ever experienced connecting with your body to move through different emotions?

  • What would it feel like to stop questioning your business? To just take a step back and accept, “this is what I am at right now. This is okay, this is good in fact.” When I have a moment of lull I am able to…. Spend more time working on myself, think about new offers, connect and reconnect with people I love and that support me.

This level of trust in your business may be what is necessary to actually close the deals of your dreams. Maybe this lull is happening because you need to have more space so showing up for yourself  and your next client feels spacious, and they want to hire you for 10K a month, taking up most of your time anyhow? What if this change and shift in energy could change everything for us?

  • This week, we are chatting with one of my favorite online business friends, @haillenorrisdesignco. Haille helps her clients connect with their intuition in order to build a brand from this intuitive space. Haille is also a member of the @wearecocreated with me and is a founding partner as well! We host monthly meetings within the Hub, and tomorrow we will be hosting Vulnerable Networking, Capacity Conversations at 1 PM EST. Message me for the link if you’re interested!

Haille and I discuss on this week’s podcast what it is like to be a mom with twins, starting her company in a pandemic and fully going all in on her true calling: brand design. As most of us can relate, as intuitives working in the corporate world can make us feel undervalued. Have you felt similarly? What are your experiences as a creative working for others?

  • When you think about capacity, what first comes to mind? Time, possibly. But what about our capacity to hold clients emotionally? Mentally? How can we start to think about this as we expand our brands?

When I first started my business, I was focused on creating more time, which was looking at efficiency, systems etc. However, once I had most of that set up, I still wasn’t able to remember things or even feel like I had the space to onboard more clients, keeping me at my income ceiling.

I was very frustrated by this at the time. Now, I know that if I am not creating emotional capacity, I won’t be able to expand. It makes sense if you think about it when it comes to the spillover effect, right?

  • How has marketing changed in the past few years? Well, drastically. A few weeks ago, I was chatting with a colleague of mine about marketing. She was receiving a lot of unsolicited advice from her mentors, and it started to make her question her vulnerability when it came to building her business online. She was stuck wondering, should I change what I am saying? Should I be less vulnerable? Should I switch how I write captions?

My answer - never change for anyone ever. You are uniquely yourself, and that is what makes you so great. In the marketing world today, there is a wide range of what people think is ‘acceptable’ online, and maybe even ways that they have marketed themselves, that have worked well in the past. But here’s the deal - You aren’t them. You are YOU! People want to hear your perspective, your values, your stories to decipher, is this someone I trust to work with? Is this a valuable place to be spending my money and time? Is this someone that I want to pour energy into because I believe the ripple effect they are having?

This week we are chatting with University Professor and Marketing Consultant, @bjj.yogamomlife, Boryana. She shares more information about how she's seen the market shift and what she looks for when it comes to investing with companies.

So tell us, have you changed how you think about purchasing in the past few years? As a consumer?

  • This week, we are chatting with @the_sophie.jones! Sophie and I met here on IG, and we hit it off immediately. Sophie helps high achievers to cultivate success from within. She has built several very successful businesses and she truly knows what it takes to create a lifestyle that aligns with your zone of genius to build wealth.
Did you have a learning disability hold you back when you were younger? Or change the way you thought about yourself?
@the_sophie.jones and I started on this topic on our first call together. We realized we both had similar experiences when it came to experiencing our learning disabilities. After being moved to a different room while in school, I felt like learning wasn’t really the focus but I still had to push through the day to be seen as “smart.” But really what we had discovered while connecting was that pieces of our experience and our diagnosis actually helped us because we were able to push through all of the criticism.
What most people don't know about learning disabilities, unless they have one, is that you are told over and over again the way you are perceiving something - math, reading, spelling, etc. - is wrong to modern society. That there is a right from wrong and we simply did most of it “wrong” and we didn't fit.
But what this did was actually help us. Me, as a highly sensitive person, it was really hard to hear this over and over again as a child. Then I realized, ‘okay well I’ll just ask for help. I will use my tools and people around me to change the narrative.’ And that's what I did - it created resilience for me. Now when I am told no, it stings less because I was told no a lot growing up. Which differently gave me a leg up into understanding that maybe what I was experiencing wasn't wrong, it was just different. And if over time I could articulate it better, maybe the way I saw the world would eventually start to become more right or true. And that is exactly what happened.

  • When scaling your business have you ever wondered what it really takes?
I believe scaling needs to start happening early on in business. Some people would say you don’t need to learn about scaling until you’ve hit capacity as a solopreneur.
I would say that scaling really starts when you begin managing multiple clients simultaneously. This is about creating capacity for yourself so that when you’re serving even just one or two clients at the start, you will actually be able to present and serve to the best of your ability.
This week we are interviewing the scaling expert @kara.renninger_. She is a Growth & Scaling Advisor 👉🏼 She helps Strategize With Driven Solopreneurs & B2B Firms So They Can Scale to Multi-7-Figures WITHOUT Spending More Time Working! Does everyone want that? What do you think the secret to scaling is?

  • Ever wondered why Meraki posts about skincare brands?
Well, this week we are diving into exactly why we love our skincare products and services, where this niche began to develop and why Meraki is never stingy when it comes to promoting other businesses.
I used to hear all the time, ‘Don’t share people in your stories without having an agreement to promote one another,’ as if it were a badge of honor to be highlighting another business on our pages. Living in fear of promoting one another because what if someone decided to buy from them instead of me?
I don’t believe that sharing other people and businesses in our stories is a bad idea. Instead, I like to think about it like this…
Aren't I working with these people because I believe in their brand?
Aren't I developing content and promoting them through their own platforms anyhow?
As I promote, aren't I helping expand their businesses as well as my own?

That feels abundant to me, whereas the first mindset always felt like scarcity - what do you think?

  • Sometimes sharing or reflecting on where we started is the only way to understand how far we have come.

When I started Meraki I barely knew what building a business would take. I thought that if I can see a better way of living, shouldn't I give it a go? Why not?

Little did I understand what a journey this would be, and how much I would need to change in order to have the lifestyle I desired.

Sitting in my moms basement, over thinking, scrambling from call to call, little organization its hard to believe that I found anyone to work with me looking back. I appreciate every single person I came into contact with at that time because each one helped me see areas of improvement for myself, and each one also became the driving force at first, for me to learn about these areas.

Its interesting to say it this bluntly, but the first start towards my healing journey was an easy one because I wasn't doing it for me - I was doing it for them.

  • Join me this week for an interview with the Owner of the @themakeuphairco, Heather. Heather shares her story of shifting her business in 2020 to work better for her lifestyle, she also shares her inside scoop on how to create a skincare regime that supports your makeup routine.
Since many of my clients are in the beauty industry, I love getting opinions of others when it comes to controversial topics. Such as, botox, fillers, caking on make up, etc.
@themakeuphairco, owner Heather shares her honest opinion all of these topics, in tomorrow episode. I find this is really important for Meraki to touch on as social media managers. We are constantly seeing clients comparing themselves, wanting to change their bodies or faces to fit in with the status quo - I don’t believe that aging is bad - therefore I believe everyone should embody their age, never needing to change how they look, in order to get better clients. Especially something that could have an impact on your body for YEARS to come.

  • After getting Reiki two certified, I felt a deeper connection with myself. And by adding this to my tool box it only elevated the connection I feel to others as well.

My coach, @aoifemindbody, mentioned Reiki to me a few years back, but I always felt like ugh, another certification. How could I add one more thing to my plate? She said to let it happen naturally and when it doesn't feel like work, that will be the right time.

And she was so right. I met Mal through a client of mine, @tuthilllisa. Lisa mentioned she was getting Reiki certified and thought that I would enjoy connecting with Mal as well.

Mal and I hit it off; we decided it was the perfect time for me to start and the way we were working together felt more aligned than ever. It was perfect alignment and I had the capacity to go through the training. I was so excited.

I remember knowing that this was what it felt like to not push something into happening: waiting, having, practicing receiving and allowing what I had been asking for to find me naturally. I am so grateful. I can’t wait to share more about Reiki with you all in 2024!

  • Once I realized in college that marketing didn’t have to come from a nasty place. That marketing could actually be changing, the way people purchase is changing so wouldn't the marketing?

In college we took persuasion classes, learned about Cult marketing, how people think, why they are primed to purchase or fall into something vs. another. It was very interesting, but I always wondered how social media would impact this type of marketing.

Don’t get me wrong, there are still many marketers that use social media in a way I am not aligned with.

But I do believe that there is a way to market yourself without feeling nasty or out of alignment while you do so - even more, your business will depend on making that shift, or it wont survive in today society.

Marketing to me is about sharing my knowledge with others so they can discern if we think similarly or not, and if they would like to opt into our content conversations, services etc. Its not about pushing, persuading, or manipulating. Its about sharing, connecting, and creating for one another.

  • This year people are really wanting to purchase from a place of knowing that their investment is going to pay off. The purchaser is looking for, authenticity, real answers, results driven content, reasonable expectations, etc.

What we have seen over the past few years especially in the coaching industry is that so many people have been burned, by the wrong coach, over promising and failing on delivery. This has had a huge impact on the industry and honestly the client, rightfully so isnt wanting to fall into another trap, speaking from experience here.

So how do you want to show up online to build actual trust? So many of us fear sharing our opinions online because we feel like people wont agree, or there will be backlash. Or is it because we aren’t sure of our own beliefs yet?

  • Happy New Year!! Today I am using this journal prompt instead of constantly looking into the future on a day like today - I am taking time to reflect on how far I have come this year instead.

What have I accomplished this year that I did not expect? What was fun in 2023? How can I create more fun and love in my life and business? What was my word for 2023? Did I embody it? What were my wins for 2023? What did I do that I thought was never going to be possible?

As we hold space this season for our New Year planning, I believe it is also important to look at what you have already done. Because that truly keeps us driven to creating, developing, growing more into 2024, right? What are your favorite ways to bring in the New Year?
