Is the justice system as we know it under threat? Join me on this special edition of the Greg Gardner podcast as we dissect the recent Trump verdict and its unsettling implications. We'll uncover the context behind these chargesâhow old misdemeanors were elevated to felonies and presented to a New York jury. Discover the perspectives from three distinct groups: those convinced of Trump's guilt, those who see the trial as a miscarriage of justice regardless of their views on Trump, and the most concerning group who justify a flawed process due to their disdain for Trump.
This episode isn't just about Trump; it's a wake-up call about the precarious state of our justice system. We'll explore the dangerous precedent this verdict sets for potential political retribution and the broader consequences of allowing political biases to erode the integrity of our judicial process. Don't miss this crucial discussion that every concerned citizen should hear, as we ponder the future of justice and governance in our society. -
Is your understanding of free speech truly comprehensive when it's put to the test by fiery protests and the clashing of ideologies? Grapple with me, Greg Gardner, as we navigate the turbulent waters of expression and dissent through the lens of pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel protests on college campuses. The sanctity of free speech is a cornerstone of our discussions, where I dissect the balance between the First Amendment and the policies of private institutions. Unpack the nuances of student protests, the tough questions they raise about societal double standards, and consider the broader implications of these actions, such as the regrettable cancellation of USC's graduation ceremony.
Should TikTok be banned? We'll explore what may seem like a straightforward question. But there are many different nuances to this and hopefully I will be able to help you think about it differently.
Let's delve into Presidential Immunity. As Justice Alito says, "This is a decision for the ages". This is about whether or not Presidents enjoy criminal immunity for their official acts. While some think this is about Donald Trump -- it really isn't. It is about any past living President or any future President. -

Fresh out of a battle with pneumonia, I launch into an unwavering critique of NPR's trajectory away from impartial reporting, a narrative sparked by Yuri Berliner's keen observations. Could their latest executive appointment signal a troubling future for a news outlet funded by the public purse? I'm not one to shy away from the hard questions, and in this episode, we peel back the layers of what's happening inside NPR and why it matters to every taxpayer. Then, we step into the courtroom for a look at the trial of Donald Trump, which many are calling a 'sham'âbut I warn, this spectacle might just rally his base more than ever.
Turning the page, we celebrate the power of sport to unite and inspire as we examine the phenomenon of Caitlin Clark, basketball's rising superstar with a magnetic pull reminiscent of Michael Jordan himself. Clark's impact extends beyond her undeniable talent on the courtâit's her infectious energy and inclusive spirit that could very well redefine the engagement with women's basketball. No layman's take on athleticism here; we're talking about the sheer force of personality and its capacity to draw crowds and change the game. Tune in to explore these dynamic cultural convergences and their ripple effects across media and sports. -
Could your very right to speak freely be under siege? The latest Greg Gardner podcast episode tackles the Supreme Court's monumental case Murphy vs. Missouri, previously known as Missouri vs. Biden, and its implications for free speech in our digital era. We're dissecting the arguments, critiquing attorney performances, and considering the potential outcomes of this case that could reshape how government officials interact with social media companies in moderating content labeled as misinformation.
Justice Jackson's hypothetical scenario about online challenges and public safety throws a stark light on the intricate dance between preserving liberty and protecting society. As we navigate these choppy waters, I share my alarm over her remarks on the First Amendment possibly constraining the government during pivotal times. This isn't just a courtroom drama; it's the unfolding future of our fundamental freedoms. Strap in for a crucial conversation that just might redefine the boundaries of speech in the internet age. -
Prepare to navigate the legal labyrinth where the titans of tech and the guardians of free speech duel in the digital arena. I'm your host, Greg Gardner, bringing light to the high-stakes confrontations between states like Florida and Texas against social media goliaths, through cases such as Moody vs. Net Choice and Net Choice vs. Paxton. These legal showdowns probe the essence of our democracy, challenging the role of social media as the modern public square and scrutinizing the delicate balance between content moderation and the First Amendment. As we dissect the intricate arguments presented before the Supreme Court, the intellectual rigor and procedural finesse of justices and attorneys alike offer a masterclass in the legal foundations shaping our right to speak freely online.
Venturing beyond the courtroom, we assess the impact of AI on history's narrative, informed by the tribulations of Google's Gemini AI. In a world where data bias looms large, the choice of value-aligned technology has never been more critical. We don't stop there; the political chessboard is in flux, with Trump's recent triumph in South Carolina and the buzz around a potential four-way presidential race adding to the intrigue. Moreover, the unsettling migration of intelligence officials to big tech censorship roles unveils the unseen hands that could be steering public discourse. This episode is an imperative exploration for those invested in the threads of technology, government influence, and the unyielding right to an informed existence amidst the digital revolution. -

Join me with an incredibly interesting discussion with one of my favorite thinkers, Mark W. Taylor. Mark earned a BS degree in Biology at Furman University. He attended Medical School at MUSC in Charleston, SC and earned a JD degree at Emory University School of Law. He is a member of the Georgia and South Carolina Bar associations. He has completed studies at Harvard Universityâs Graduate School of Design (Executive Education) and has written numerous articles related to real estate finance. He is the author of âThe Dealâ a fictional novel to be released in early 2024. Mark is married and has two children, ages 32 and 29.
Greg and Mark discuss these Media Myths among others:
1. Everyone acting like our economy is in great shape and Bidenomics is working. It isn't. And the current trajectory is off a cliff for us all.2. Everyone acting like electric cars are the savior. The market is our savior (economically) and cars have become much cleaner over the years.
3. Everyone acting like Biden is competent. He isn't, and neither is Harris. Democrats, give us someone else.
4. Everyone acting like Trump is competent. He isn't. GOP, give us someone else.
5. Everyone acting like the US is the climate change problem. We aren't. We have reduced Carbon Emissions by 70% in 30 years. Go after China, India, most of South America and parts of Eastern Europe.
6. Everyone acting like our problems are political. They are not. They are largely social and moral.
7. Everyone acting like Transgender is OK for Children. It isn't. If you want to modify your body, wait until you are 18, and then do whatever you want--I don't care.
8. Everyone acting like racism is our biggest challenge. This country has given opportunities to all minorities. Minorities have done better here than any place else. Sure, we can do better, but if you think we have as a primary problem racism then go live in one of the many countries that have slavery today. India, China, North Korea, Iran--over 15 million enslaved there.

In this episode we continue our conversation with Dr. Shaner on the different states of awareness or bodymind awareness. We discuss which of these different modes of awareness promote peak performance. We talk about Dr. Shanerâs teacher Tohei Sensei and how he could observe and predict performance based on someoneâs disposition before they performed. We then venture into the evolutionary basis of learning and behavioral change and what we are up against as a species when we want to truly change our behavior. We talk about what peak performance means in our relationships with others and how we can use these states of awareness to get along with each other in these polarizing times. It turns out it is all about performing at our best in all areas of our lives including talking with, agreeing with, and disagreeing with others. When you engage others, Is your gaze open and broad or is it myopic and small? We then go through some of the exercises in the book, Living With The
Wind At Your Back and discuss how cultivating these recommended âhabitsâ will help you improve in every way. Here is Dr. Shaner's TEDX talk and demonstration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyBEIx7fCfY -
Dr. Shaner began his performance development journey as a downhill skier on the Olympic Valley USA Ski Team in the early 70s. After his championship skiing career, and as a result of his worldwide exploration into many different techniques to develop and improve his performance, he attended the University of Hawaii for his Masters and Doctorate in Eastern Culture Philosophy. His Doctoral Thesis on the Japanese BodyMind Experience was written at Harvard University. During this time and as a result of his relentless pursuit of multi-cultural ideas around peak performance and incremental improvement, he began his study of Ki-Aikido. As a Martial Artist, he is an 8th degree blackbelt in Ki Development/Aikido. Shaner Sensei is the chief instructor of the Eastern Ki Federation and is the Japan HQ (Ki No Kenkyukai) advisor to the Eastern Europe/Russia Ki-Aikido Federation. He is the author of 4 books of his own as well as the founder and editor of a 37 book series about understanding the biological and evolutionary basis of productive learning and behavior.
In part 1 of this podcast we discuss the latest of his 4 books, Living with the Wind at Your Back. We delve into Dr. Shaner's background and learn how he "connected the dots" around what it takes to consistently perform at the highest levels in any endeavor. We discuss the required bodymind state for peak performance and exercises on how to achieve this state. Listeners can purchase his book at www.davidshaner.com. They can also reach Dr. Shaner at [email protected]. A trailer for the book is here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrFWX-X8qlA -
