I feel like I have to revisit this twice a year. Not just with people who are new to the actual concept of “introversion” but people around me who should know better. Honestly, I wish that Merriam-Webster who actually change their definition. Yes, many are reserved or quiet, but that is not all that they are. There is so much research out there saying shyness is an entirely different thing.

The work landscape out there is rough out there. It’s hard to know what to say, what is actually important. You only get so much time. And as an introvert, talking about ourselves is nerve-racking as it is. You want to make a good impression and also give all the info they will need to get them to choose you.

Dispositional Autonomy determines how you feel about solitude and what you end up getting from it. So for us introverts this determines how well we take the solitude we actually need. Because this can be something we are taught. If we are forced into it then we can get less from it.

We should always thank people when they do something nice for us. Gratitude is actually a good thing to have. But it does not have to be a public declaration. Why am I see people get angry that someone didn’t come to them personally and get on their knees to thank them? There are levels, calm down.

We are all stuck on our screens. Scrolling social media, checking emails, and just generally working. Our brains cannot take it all day every day. So sometimes you just need to get and do something. It's not only good for you physically, but mentally.

Phubbing is a somewhat new term which is a combination if ‘phone’ and ‘snubbing’. Meaning you are snubbing a person who is right in front of you to look at your phone. Which is a problem for us with everything you can do on your phone. Social media sites work on getting you one their apps and keeping you there.

I know it is a shocker to some, but most introverts do like to go out. We go dancing and hang at bars sometimes. The difference is in how we get ready, especially pre-gaming. For most, you get together beforehand to have some drinks and hang. This can be a few hours before you even leave. For introverts, we need to be alone. Preserve that energy so we can last as long as we can.

We’ve all heard of creating less friction in life to help with good habits. Laying out your workout clothes the night before, meal prepping, and many others. That is getting rid of friction. But the opposite can be true to helping you be more productive. Having an app that will get you off certain apps while you work. Both can be used to get the desired result.

We all have schedules. You can’t really do any work or hang with friends without it. But the other thing you need to keep in mind when making your schedule, for work and fun, is how much energy you will have before, during, and after. And as an introvert you need to try and figure out what will be best for you. To actually have the energy needed.

Just like everything in life, there are things that don’t work together. And that includes within ourselves. We are complicated creatures and nothing in life works perfectly so some of the pieces of ourselves will not work well together.

I love taking personality traits. Many are very useful to know about yourself. Even the fun, goofy ones teach you things. Even though they can give deep insights into yourself with great tips on how to better yourself or use these out into the world, they are not all there is to you. Some even don’t seem to work well together. That does not mean that you can’t be or do something that doesn’t “fit”.

We all have things that we need to do but don’t want to. No one actually loves doing all chores. Some we don’t mind and others can give us space to let our minds wander. We don’t always enjoy doing things for others but want to be helpful. Not everyone loves their job. Most have parts that they don’t like. So there are ways you can make it easier to do.

We all love some alone time. But there are times when it can be bad. There is a term for people who never go out and can’t really function in society in Japan called hikikomori—the Japanese recluse. It can be easy to slip into this. There are some signs to look out for yourself and others. Here are 5 things to look for to see if your solitude is off.

We all know what it feels like to be awkward. It happens all the time. Sadly I’ve known it a lot more with all the moving I’ve done in my younger years. So as fellow awkward people, we can do small things to make others feel less left out.

Sometimes being out and about is just too much. Having to talk to people and be engaging. And if you have to go to something specific that you need to make a good impression. Whether it's for networking, business, or just a wedding, so then get a partner to help. I call this tag-teaming.

I recently came back from my first solo trip abroad in a long time. Which gave me some more good tips to give to people. Especially for longer trips in a country that does not speak english. Because all these combined can make your trip great or difficult if you do not plan for it.

This came from a Kari Leibowitz article in The Conversation. And to see that I already do this makes me feel a little better. And I have seen this in some of the situations I have been in. I still remember as a teen feeling like I can’t take the upset and pain. Which is valid since its the first time going through that situation. But with time and a good mindset you can not let many things ruin your day or week.

Its not really a surprise that research shows that being authentic in everything you do makes you happier. That too many people don’t connect what and who you are online is a part of that. Now there’s nothing wrong with trying to be a bit more confident online or have a bit of a persona. But it can’t be with everything that you do.
