It’s a learned behavior and hard to unlearn without a relaunch to thinking patterns.

Today on the Launch Your Life Podcast, I’m talking about the racist history of my home town and Christmas, among other things

    What’s Discussed in This Episode:

  • Every single limit is in our mind, but the reality is, we can do anything. We’re not born excellent at anything and so it's so important to just practice and give ourselves some grace. In today’s episode of The Launch Your Life Podcast, I’m with J.M. Phillips who is an author and retired Occupational Therapist. During the podcast, we talk about the mindset shifts J.M. had to make in order to overcome her personal obstacles, to writing a book and how you can start to take action toward your passion right now.

I hadn't run since I was 18 until I hired a cycling coach who happened to be a triathlon coach.

When I first started running, I did it for one minute at a time and my heart rate would go up to 180 so I had to walk for three minutes and then run and walk.

Eventually I came in second in my age group in 5Ks.

Then I did a seven mile run in 11 minutes per mile, which I thought was really good for me at 55.

And then I did a 5k in under 30 minutes.

Every single limit is in our mind, but the reality is, we can do anything.

Have you ever felt like you wanted to reinvent your life and start over? If so, please tell me all about it. I really need your advice.

To reward you for your time, I’m going to choose nine people to join me on a NO COST 1:1 Relaunch Call.

This call is designed to help you get clear on your specific goals so you can get started now.

To join in and be eligible for the Relaunch Call, go to https://discover.drgordon.me and answer all the questions.

I look forward to reading your responses and talking to you soon!

Remember, anything we're doing is worth sucking at it first. We’re not born excellent at anything.

And so it's so important to just practice and give ourselves some grace.

It's never too late and you can do anything when you put your mind to it.

In today’s episode of The Launch Your Life Podcast, I’m with J.M. Phillips who is an author and retired Occupational Therapist.

When she became motivated by the retelling of family stories, she wrote Lamlash Street which is a book about navigating family life in London.

During the podcast, we talk about the mindset shifts J.M. had to make in order to overcome her personal obstacles, to writing a book and how you can start to take action toward your passion right now.

  • In today’s episode of The Launch Your Life Podcast, I’m with Stephanie Lueras who is a body positive ACE certified personal trainer, ACE fitness, nutrition specialist, international best-selling author, and speaker.

She was sick and tired of being sick and tired and needed some changes. Through small actions and goal-setting, Stephanie has lost over 200 pounds.

When I first started running, I ran 30-40 seconds at a time and my heart rate would go up into the one eighties.

And then I would walk while I caught my breath.

    Then I'd run again.

The longest race I ever did was the Falmouth Road Race, which was seven miles and I did 11 minutes per mile.

Exercise is a hundred percent dose dependent.

And when you do it, you get better at it just by taking little steps.

As adults, we sometimes think that we should be really good at everything we try.

And if something doesn't work right away, we think that we have to give it up.

I like to tell people I work with that anything worth doing is worth sucking at it first.

Because babies are not born walking.

    Everything takes time.

Because when it comes to making any change, it’s important that we don't try to change everything all at once and we don't have an all-or-nothing attitude because that's just defeatist.

During the podcast, you're going to discover the power of habits and making lasting change PLUS:

The importance of routine and accountability How to change your relationship with failure How to let go of the importance of a number when it comes to weight and health The mindset shifts required to lose 200 pounds and keep it off Why accountability matters

    What’s Discussed in This Episode:

    00:00 Intro

05:17 Making little habits to create change

10:18 Changing our relationship with failure

15:06 Looking at our beliefs about being a woman

16:44 Finding something bigger to move into purpose

    19:48 Letting go of expectations

  • Self-care is an inside job. It's about asking for help. It's about knowing you need it. It's about being vulnerable enough with other people to let them in a little, so you aren't doing everything alone. And it is about setting boundaries. In today’s episode of the Launch Your Life Podcast, I’m with Suzanne Falter, host of Self-Care for Extremely Busy Women podcast where we talk about grief and loss as an opportunity for growth, reinvention and the five basics of self-care.

    Self-care is an inside job.

It's about asking for help. It's about knowing you need it. It's about being vulnerable enough with other people to let them in a little, so you aren't doing everything alone.

And it is about setting boundaries.

Have you ever told yourself you can't stop or the world will crumble?

    Some people believe that.

But no one else is going to care for our time the way we do.

I'm a true believer in radical responsibility. Our outcomes are based on how we choose to think and how we choose to believe things.

Remember, if we're not getting the outcomes that we want, it might be because we are not choosing to look at our habits.

In today’s episode of the Launch Your Life Podcast, I’m with Suzanne Falter, host of Self-Care for Extremely Busy Women podcast where we talk about grief and loss as an opportunity for growth, reinvention PLUS:

Parenting our inner child Recognizing and addressing burnout Setting appropriate boundaries

She also shares the five basics of self-care.

  • Everything else is open to interpretation and we can change our story in an instant as long as we're willing to look at things from a different perspective. We can change our lives. In today’s episode of The Launch Your Life Podcast, we talk about how we can make that happen with Rapid Transformational Therapist, Sally Garozzo. Sally is passionate about innovative approaches to health and wellbeing, which support the midlife transition. She also gives us some practical tips on creating a sustainable sleep routine, so stay until the end of the episode.

Consider this: If you only had six months to live, what would you do?

Without question I know I would be traveling.

But if there were no limits, what would you do?

This is something I always think about because the limits that we have in our lives are only things that we put on ourselves because of some belief.

Anyone who's listening to a mindset podcast wants to grow.

For growth to happen, we have to be in this state of constantly questioning what we believe to be true.

Because unless we start to radically examine our beliefs, our lives will not change.

We also have to be comfortable with the fact that things happen as they're supposed to.

And that means giving up our sense of control.

    Nothing is set in stone.

The only thing that I think is real is gravity.😂

But other than that, everything else is open to interpretation and we can change our story in an instant as long as we're willing to look at things from a different perspective.

    We can change our lives.

In today’s episode of The Launch Your Life Podcast, we talk about how we can make that happen with Rapid Transformational Therapist, Sally Garozzo.

Sally is passionate about innovative approaches to health and wellbeing, which support the midlife transition.

During the podcast we talk about how subconscious programming drives our lives and our behavior PLUS:

Deconstructing the past Why it's so hard to create lasting change Why Sally takes a five minute dip into the English winter sea a few times every week

She also gives us some practical tips on creating a sustainable sleep routine, so stay until the end of the episode.

  • There are two sides inside our emotional brain: the connected side, which is where positivity, our ability for clarity, and our sense of confidence are. Our power is all in that connected side. On the other side of the brain is the disconnected side and that's where our fear, guilt, worry, and all of those things that suck our energy are. That's where head trash lives. Renie Cavallari says that the goal of life is to spend as much time as possible on the connected side. And she shares how we can do that in today’s episode of The Launch Your Life Podcast. Tune in today and find out what Head Trash is, how it kills potential, and how to dump it in the moment.

As I've gotten older, I've realized mindset truly is everything.

I spend a lot of time in my courses and programs helping people see things from a different perspective so that they can create change in their lives.

I even had one client say, “I would have paid five times as much to see this much change in my life.”

I can change the way I look at just about anything if I'm willing to let go of what my ego wants and that's the harder part.

Shifting your mindset really is a spiritual journey.

  • James Wedmore says this a lot: “You either get the result you want or the lesson you need.” If life has given you a desire and an expectation, and then that expectation isn't met for whatever reason, rather than disappointment, our job is to look at it and say, “What’s the lesson here?” In today’s episode of The Best Of The Menopause Movement Podcast, I take you back to one of the first episodes I released as I talked about handling disappointments. Tune in today!

    We have plans for ourselves.

But sometimes the universe has a different plan for us.

Sometimes we think what we want is the right thing, but when it doesn’t happen…we get disappointed.

I used to get mad when I’m disappointed.

Especially because I almost always get what I want (not from a spoiled child perspective). I'm usually in alignment with what the universe wants for me.

And when that doesn't happen, I start asking questions like, “Why do I have this desire?”

James Wedmore says this a lot: “You either get the result you want or the lesson you need.”

If life has given you a desire and an expectation, and then that expectation isn't met for whatever reason, rather than disappointment, our job is to look at it and say, “What’s the lesson here?”

The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your questions.

This is how I learned to sit and try to let go when disappointment comes.

In today’s episode of The Best Of The Menopause Movement Podcast, I take you back to one of the first episodes I released as I talked about handling disappointments.

    Tune in today!

    What’s Discussed in This Episode:

(6:02) How to pivot or course-correct when disappointment becomes too heavy

(19:38) Seeing the bigger picture—asking yourself what you want and making decisions that will take you there

(22:44) Managing health expectations in your menopause years

(27:44) Change your lifestyle and start with the end in mind

  • Mindset really comes down to the story we are telling ourselves, and a lot of times, the stories that we believe came from what we learned when we were children. If we don't pay attention to how we're speaking to ourselves and what beliefs are driving our current actions, we get stuck in a box. Our beliefs create our future, and we need to step out of the box to create a life we love. In today’s episode of The Best of The Menopause Movement Podcast, I’m with Jill Romig who is passionate about helping women make peace with their pasts to step into their own and become more confident and comfortable in their skin. This episode will help you make peace with your past and understand the importance of positive affirmations.

We often don't realize this, but we have a bully inside our heads.

It's important to pay attention to how we're telling ourselves stories, what those stories actually mean, and whether they're valid.

A quick example: If I tell myself that someone hates me because I'm wearing scrubs, then we're going to have tension because this is the story that I've told myself, regardless of whether it's true.

Mindset really comes down to the story we are telling ourselves more than anything else.

And a lot of times, the stories that we believe came from what we learned when we were children.

For me, it’s the memory of my mother saying that my uncles were rich because they were doctors. At that moment, my little five-year-old brain said, “I have to be a doctor or I won't be able to make money.”

That decision and belief served me.

My subconscious mind took me from being a music major, to taking one class in Trigonometry and high scoring that class, to going into science to one of the most difficult colleges in the country called, Harvey Mudd, to medical school.

We are being programmed from such a young age, and if we don't pay attention to how we're speaking to ourselves and what beliefs are driving our current actions…

We get stuck in a box.

    Our beliefs create our future.

And we need to step out of the box to create a life we love.

In today’s episode of The Best of The Menopause Movement Podcast, I’m with Jill Romig who is passionate about helping women make peace with their pasts to step into their own and become more confident and comfortable in their skin through her Living Boldly Coaching Program.

At 53, she finally figured a few things out and is excited to share what she's learned with other women that struggle with aging, fitness, nutrition, intimacy, and fashion.

During the interview, we discuss healing from the past, her experience with eye movement, desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) PLUS:

How important we speak to ourselves is How the book, The Four Agreements changed her life Introverts and extroverts How our thoughts create a reality What fear is and why failure is a door to possibility The importance of affirmations done the right way in success

This episode will help you make peace with your past and understand the importance of positive affirmations.

At 53, she finally figured a few things out and is excited to share with women struggling with aging, fitness, nutrition, intimacy, and fashion. • I was very competitive as a child.

I remember we lived on a cul-de-sac and there was a boy visiting. I had just gotten new shoes and I said to him, “I just got new shoes. I can run faster than you.”

And he said, “Your shoes don't make you fast.”

I said, “Do you want to make a bet? I’ll race you to the end.”

I had to go so fast that I beat that kid.

It’s interesting to look back at some childhood memories to help understand our current behavior.

There are forces that help give us the self-discovery that we need to understand our subconscious programming.

And in today’s episode of The Best of The Menopause Movement Podcast, we’ll talk about the Enneagram.

The Enneagram is a deep dive into what makes you tick. Unlike most personality systems, which usually have a cluster of preferences or behaviors, the Enneagram really goes way deeper than behavior, which is why it's hard to test.

But our guest, Stephanie Davis, an enneagram expert and a trainer educated in business, psychology, and systems theory will give us an overview about the 9 different types.

Tune in today and find out what your type might be!

    What’s Discussed in This Episode:

(02:28) The enneagram and what makes you tick.

(08:39) What you can get from learning the enneagram

(12:02) What makes your type “messed up”

(16:42) The three types within each triad of the enneagram

(18:06) What is the gut triad?

(25:27) Why there are no accurate enneagram tests.

(26:56) The gut triad (1, 8, 9), what makes them tick, their ego, and how they react.

    (26:01) Type 1 (26:56) Type 8 (29:33) Type 9

(32:20) The heart triad (2, 3 4): what makes them tick, their ego, and how they react.

    (33:33) Type 2 (37:26) Type 3 (42:25) Type 4

(46:16) The goal after figuring out your type

(57:23) The head triad (5, 6, 7): what makes them tick, their ego, and how they react.

    (57:45) Type 5 (1:00:58) Type 6 (1:07:46) Type 7

(1:13:37) Other theories from Katherine Fauvre and Claudio Naranjo, and the continuous evolution of the field

    (1:21:52) Resources for your growth

(1:24:13) Going through the nine enneagram types and drawing a caricature for each

  • There are truths I didn't think I would ever say.

One of them is we're all on a spiritual path, whether we want to believe it or not. Even the most ardent atheist is on their own spiritual path.

When I was in high school, I was like a crazy Jesus freak. Then I kind of slipped away from it because the church didn't treat me well.

But it was when I saw that there's always availability for something bigger that I started to see the world that we live in is something that we've created.

And we have the ability and the opportunity to change everything just based on how we see things.

Whether you call it God, energy or the universe…

We only see the world through the filter of the box that we are in, and not everybody understands that the magic happens outside of it.

Some of us love to be philosophical and keep everything in our head.

But what we are missing is application.

We need integration, embodiment, and empowerment.

And the best spiritual practice is how you are living your life.

I talk more about that in today’s episode of The Best of The Menopause Movement Podcast with Makhosi Candiss Pitts as she shares her life-changing experience, from the difficulty of conception to dropping out of medical school to pursue a spiritual journey.

During the interview we discussed her infertility journey, her brief encounter with menopause, how hormone imbalances affected her pregnancy, PLUS:

The importance of detaching from outcome to achieve desired results The definition of shaman and how without a cultural context, it's almost impossible to define How spiritual gifts are available to anyone, but not all are called to the path of the shaman The importance of gratitude in everyday life The questions people ask about fulfillment The definition of purpose, why it's important and how it's impossible to think yourself to a purpose

  • Abuse is a lot more common than a lot of us would admit.

It’s not just physical. It’s more than that and it cuts through to someone’s core.

And while it may not be directly related to menopause, some of us may be in abusive relationships.

Understanding more about how to handle, get out of and heal from an abusive relationship is so important.

Nobody deserves to be abused physically, verbally or emotionally.

In this episode of The Best of The Menopause Movement Podcast, I’m with Miki Sturges where we talk about the cycle of shame, angel syndrome PLUS:

The cycle of abuse How we live in a patriarchy and how that affects abuse Breaking the cycle

Miki is a life coach and an expert in the field of resilience and survival from domestic abuse. She established a company called the Rise Up, Women Movement, where she aims to empower, encourage, and inspire women in conquering challenges from abuse.

One out of every four women in the United States experiences domestic violence in their lifetime. The most crucial step in getting away from this trauma is contacting a domestic abuse hotline.

If you need immediate assistance for domestic abuse, call 911, or you may call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233). They will provide help by assisting with crisis intervention and initial safety planning. There is also a hotline for teen victims of domestic violence, called Love Is Respect, which you can call at 1-866-331-9474.
