Episode 25 - Having a Brew and a Bickie with Sully’s Scale Models

Sully Thomason of Sully’s Scale Models visits us on this episode, and we get to know him, his story, and talk about a few of our favorite of his YouTube videos. We also talk about the life of a YouTube content creator. He even reveals what a “brew and a bickie is.

Bad Santa and Tuch discover that their YouTube algorithms are now cycling, as they both are being suggested Sully’s videos and Bob Ross’s Joy of Painting

Our main discussion topic was vignettes and diorama scenes. What is a diorama? What is a vignette? What is the difference? Does it even matter?

Boiled down, and it completely makes sense
Frankie has the answer!

Also, what are some of the important things to pay attention to when planning and building a scene?

Episode 24 – It's Your Right To Brag...

We start this episode off the right way-with a Riv’s Rant!

Rob Riv vents about how Bad Santa was treated when he was trying to help in a Beginner’s Modeling group and an Admin was giving him grief about a misunderstanding on HIS part. But, we determined that is just how it is in some groups.

Then we get into the conversation about our trip to Connecticut and Armorcon. The good, the meh and well....there wasn't too much ugly. It was a great show, with lots of amazing work to take in. Aromorcon Debrief leads into the topic of “Brag Books” and research of our builds and how it can benefit the builder, both in judges’ scoring and buiding to accuracy.

We also talk Turkey...Shoot that is! Its coming up fast. Four days of scale modeling debauchery! midnight Thanksgiving day to midnight the Sunday after, November 28th-December 1st.

Episode 23 “An Hour of Value with Steve Munsell”

We have Steve Munsell, owner and proprietor of Value Gear, visit with us! He tells us the tale of Value Gear, and how it came to be the best value on the market, and how there have even been people who unknowingly took his products to make molds, thinking he was only cheating Temu and AliExpress...

We then fade into a discussion on the usage of Stowage, who can possibly use it (the right answer is EVERYONE), and his foray into ‘stowage’ for the automotive modelers.

Episode 22 “Is It Real or Just Your Imagination"

This episode, Riv opens up to us about his feelings on the recent happenings with a fellow modeler, and what should be considered proper etiquette when your building is directly inspired by another modeler.

We add in a new segment, in which we talk about what we have on our benches; and no surprise here, we are all busy with multiple projects!

Then we get into a discussion about modeling with realism versus artistic expression, and ho, in the hobby, there is a huge area of (Panzer) grey, where that overlaps, because some aspects of the historical fact does not play well visually and can sometimes cause displeasure to the eye of the beholder. Adams and Bad Santa get a little off track and discuss a bit about how shop owners are on the front line for new modelers, and really should be more attuned to what is going on in the hobby

This episode has Whitey and D-Ran, of The Model Geeks infamy, joining in on the conversation here at the nut house! The topics for conversation were taken from the post Rob Adams put up in the days leading up to our recording. Our first discussion centers around going outside of your usual genre, and the pitfalls and possibilities that could offer . This one was a mash up of suggestions from Jeremy Elliot and Jason Hanscom. Our main topic is from Adam Griffin, and he asks about the differences in culture between genres. We start out strong talking about our experiences, but we still hit that kink in the rail and get derailed!

Riv first goes on a rant about what others consider entertainment with content creators in the hobby. Whether it by creating and producing podcast, YouTube content, or other social media...

Stemming from our excursion to AMPS Nats, this is a spill over episode, discussing what brings us inspiration in the hobby. What is it that makes us want to produce? Where does inspiration come from?

Our discussion about inspiration leads into research and aftermarket additions. Somewhere along the conversation, Justin got kidnapped by aliens or something, as he missed the switch in topics. Stash accumulation rounds out the conversation and we talk about the strange stuff in our stashes and where they came from.

And Riv admits he has a photoetch problem
and the conversation ends with the inevitable question of what happens with those stashes when we cross the River Styx on that next journey.

The Red Beach One Studios World War One group build is has converted to a Special Interest Group Machinen Krieger Group build is well underway! Officially ends in July, with the release of the 1/35 Falke kit-post your unstarted builds in the ‘Unstarted ‘ Album.

Yup! Another AMPS Episode! But the last show episode for a while...

This time, the guys have Jeff ‘El Jeffe’ Herne on as a guest co-host and they break down the different perspectives from the Amps Nats.

Some highlights: Justin joins the Steve Andreano Driving Club, by driving the car from his brand new Playstation controller, while Rob becomes an awards winning back seat driver! Rob Adams and Frankie meet up with Silent Tyler from the buildrooms on their way through southern Canadia, and Tuch crashes the Belsheim residencs with Chris Green

We also break down the show, the debauchery and the hilarity with our friends that have transcended from “weird Internet” to 3D friends!

We also talk about what we were able to pillage from the vendors as well!

Tuch knocks it out of the park with some on the spot interviews with Chris Graeter, Jeff Herne, Adam ‘Dr. Feelgood’ Jackson, Harrison Bueler, Doctor Dave, John Bonanni, and Daniel Brubaker, one of the coolest kids we have ever talked the hobby with!

On This episode of the Insanity, the inmates do a simulcast episode with the Lads from Black Rifle Model Worx Group. We join Luke Carswell, Adam Challenger and Stuart Goodswen on the BRMW Youtube Channel. Frank Donati and Rob Adams are live from Frankie’s basement (Dont Ask) and Tuch is there.

Hot off the heels of Mosquitocon, Rob disparages the British accent, while discussing the differences between British/European shows and American shows. TL;DR: other than the competition versus display only, its the distances!

Adams wins another banner contest....on his own page! and Riv takes offense...again! And Adams finds a new laxative-airplane turbulence.

We also hit on online purchases, prices, and shipping, and why is everything so expensive?

Black Rifle Model Worx does a Kits for Kids Fundraiser, and we lay the groundwork of being involved with their next one later this year.
