In this episode, I share ways to identify if a low or no paying gig is worth it for you. Sometimes it truly is exposure. Sometime it's just exploitation of your time, skills, and resources. Let's do this Music Executives.

We have all been there. I hope that this is not the truth but it probably is.
Burn out. But because we have to work to eat, we are simply "pushing through." And what do we get when pushing through essentially leaves our bodies, our emotional states, our well being in jeopardy?
BURN OUT.
So in this episode, I wanted to be transparent with you and share how I've been able to identify when I am getting burned out and what I have done to combat that as I continue to navigate this industry.
I discuss my version of the levels of burn out, the effects that they have on our physical state, creative state, and clarity state.
From there, I share an experiment (that ended up working, quite frankly) that helped me notice burn out sooner rather than later. And now, 90 days into my experiment, I have not experienced debilitating burn out in quite some time.
I hope you are enjoying the podcast. Don't forget to share it with a friend.

Let’s be honest. Practicing can be a drag.
But as a community of Music Execs, we know it’s the key to our unbridled success. According to a 2009 Gallup Poll, 85% of U.S. adults who don’t play a musical instrument wish they had learned to play one. We’re the lucky ones, friends.
Dustin Fichter is the accomplished guitarist and educator walking us through an effective practice session this episode. We figured since he’s played with artists ranging from Jj Hairston to Charles Macphearson and is a regular writer on Jazz Guitar Today, he knows what he’s talking about. He broke it down for us like this:
5 min - Warmup
5 min - Technique
10 min - Learning Riffs
10 min - Improvising/ Jamming
The fearless guitarist shares these four easy strategies for continued success in your practice.

I LOVE IT when band members show up an hour late and haven’t practiced any of the music!

Band Leaders, we know you felt that one. And that’s why this episode is especially for you.
In conversation with Emmanuel “Chops” Smith, we’ve found the cure for Band Leader Blues. This multi talented pianist and Band Leader gives us the run-down on how good hang, good pay, and good music keep even the most out of sync groups in harmony together.
