The Holidays can be hard. In past years I’ve dealt with intense soap-opera-esque family drama (we would have made a great reality TV show years ago). I wish I had the tools and awareness back then that I have now, but everything came in the timing it needed to. So, if you’ve stumbled across this podcast, maybe this is the timing that these ideas needed to come to you too.

In this episode:
Emotional regulation is feeling safe to feel any emotion in your body (not avoiding, resisting or acting out). Helping others through uncomfortable emotions by increasing your capacity for feelingsEmotions are messages that are trying to be seen and heard: tools for listening through words and listening through the body.---

My healing journey included a ton of books, research, guides, teachers (and time) that all dropped in just when I needed them (less of self-help and more of a community project I guess!). I don’t even recognize the self that I was 5 years ago- negative attachment patterns, emotional dysregulation, indecision and overwhelm. But even when I had changed so much of that 2-3 years ago, I was still stuck in “hustle” and tapped out of my own inner wisdom. Time doesn’t heal all wounds- but time spent healing, heals. And my favourite reminder before you listen in: Healing is remembering… you aren’t broken. You never were. Healing is the process of coming back to that Truth.

In this episode:
What my own childhood and teenage-hood looked like (and how I was driven by people-pleasing and external validation, without knowing it)My parenting and relationship journey: small shifts to big shifts, and how I saw a 180-degree difference in my kids’ behaviours too. How CBT and thought-work based modalities only took me so far, the further inner work was needed to see real change (like how I don’t EVER yell anymore, without trying!) Moving from hustle, marketing strategy and tactics and self-doubt in my business to intuition, manifestation and trust (everything is working out for my good). -

What is possible in a year? How much have you changed over the last 1 year, 5 years, or 10 years? What else is possible? The part of healing that we talk about often is deconstruction around what’s keeping you stuck and moving through that… but the other half is CREATION- making possible the kind of life you want, especially the seemingly impossible things. I share my formula for creation, so you can join me for your own Miracle Year (or coach with me through your Miracle Year HERE).

On this podcast, we love to talk about shame-free everything… It’s easy to see how our parenting can trend toward shame, and I hope listening in has helped that change in little (or big) ways. If you grew up in a home where your body and food choices were a main focus and commented on often, you may wonder how to raise your child differently. Ditch the food and body shame in this episode with Nicole Cruz, RD, and me.

As a Registered Dietitian and mom of three, she combines her personal and professional experience to help parents raise confident eaters who can enjoy a variety of foods, listen to their body cues, and avoid obsessing over sweets or other ‘treats’. She believes that a healthy relationship with food is the foundation for lifelong ‘healthy’ eating — and when we nourish together, we bring more joy and less stress to the table!

When we’re triggered by our kids and trying to keep our cool… more is going on in our unconscious mind than what we are aware of. When we have the tools to work through what’s going on under the surface, we can more easily show up as the shame-free parents that we want to be (and wish we had).

“Because I said so”, “You’re making me mad!”, “Why can’t you be more like your sister?!”, “Stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about!” … sound familiar? Parenting in the 80s and 90s (and before) was shame-based to the core, and it’s still affecting us and our parenting now, in ways we can’t often see.
