  • Today, I'm excited to dive into the crucial differences between Physical Therapy and the Stretch Method. Physical Therapy focuses on restoring and maintaining physical function, utilizing hands-on techniques and exercises to help patients recover from injury or surgery. Its goal is to improve strength, flexibility, and balance while reducing pain.

But here's the thing: despite Physical Therapy's value, I noticed a gap in care that inspired me to create the Stretch Method. It's a holistic approach combining physical therapy principles with reconditioning programs and preventative health strategies. Unlike conventional care, we seek to reverse pain and tightness, restoring joint mobility and breaking the cycle that leads to chronic pain.

I founded this methodology to fill the gap between existing services like Physical Therapy, athletic training, personal training, and chiropractic care. I saw the need to unite these disciplines while ensuring each expert can stay in their lane. In this episode, I'll explain how our whole-body testing and treatment program helps break that deconditioning cycle, enabling our clients to regain strength, flexibility, and confidence.

If you're a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant interested in becoming a Certified Stretch Mobility Coach, I'm inviting you to schedule a free coaching call with me. Together, we can expand this movement to create real change and help people lead lives without limits.

  • PTAs - if selling scares you, don't miss this episode. Today we deep into the often intimidating world of selling for Physical Therapist Assistants and other rehabilitation professionals. Aimed at those who find the concept of selling outside their comfort zone, I explore how to effectively offer healthcare solutions without the pressure of traditional sales tactics. I break down the pervasive issues surrounding chronic pain and the extensive, often costly, journey individuals undertake in search of relief—from frequent YouTube searches to expensive visits across various medical professionals. Despite such efforts, many find only temporary fixes, leading to a cycle of pain, poor mental health, and spiraling healthcare costs.

I discuss the significant impact of untreated chronic conditions on daily life and mental health, as supported by insights from the Centers for Disease Control. Furthermore, I critique the limitations of the current health insurance models that focus more on catastrophic care rather than preventative measures and long-term wellness. This episode is not just a discussion but a call to action for PTAs to embrace a holistic approach to healthcare. By aligning my services with the needs of the community, I can transition from traditional selling to becoming an integral partner in my clients' health, ultimately fostering a system that supports a thriving, healthy society. Join me as I equip you with the knowledge and confidence to transform your practice and help your clients live without limits.

  • Welcome back to another episode of The Stretch Mobility Coach Podcast! In today's episode, I dive into a topic that may not be at the forefront of your mind, but is crucial nonetheless: are your PTA skills holding you back from achieving solo success? Many of us have been trained in traditional treatment techniques that lack the long-term benefits our clients are desperately seeking. You might be shocked to learn that the newer muscular system treatments we provide as PTAs were not actually developed with what consumers need most in mind—long-term relief and preventative care.

Join me as I share insights from years of research into the deconditioning cycle, which has led my team and I to develop a new, comprehensive treatment approach. This goes beyond what we were taught as PTAs, challenging the state-of-the-art treatments we’re familiar with. I'll also share personal stories from my early days working alongside Stacy at the Beckett Clinic, where her mentorship and our ongoing professional challenges sparked the creation of innovative methods that redefined our practice.

Whether you're frustrated by the limitations of your current role or seeking more autonomy to treat patients as you see fit, this episode is for you. We'll explore how these new methods can not only improve your practice but also provide a path to independence and success.

I hope this conversation opens your eyes to the potential for growth beyond traditional frameworks and inspires you to think differently about your career as a PTA. Tune in, and let’s take this journey together.

  • In today's episode, I'm thrilled to share something truly groundbreaking that's been brewing behind the scenes. As a seasoned professional in the world of healthcare, I've seen firsthand the gaps in care for our senior community, particularly those residing in assisted and independent living facilities. Recognizing these challenges, I've developed a new specialty certificate aimed at empowering not just PTAs and PTs, but also OTs and Occupational Therapist Assistants to offer comprehensive well care services to the complex senior population.

This innovative certificate allows licensed rehab professionals to extend their expertise beyond traditional physical therapy, addressing the urgent need for targeted, effective well care services nationwide. The reality is stark; too often, seniors face a decline in their functional abilities due to inadequate support post-discharge from therapy services. This decline is not just a matter of aging; it's a consequence of the limited scope of care currently available, constrained by insurance limitations and a lack of specialized programs focused on maintaining and improving seniors' quality of life.

But it's not all doom and gloom. This new program represents a beacon of hope. It's designed to bridge the gap, offering rehab professionals the tools they need to implement reconditioning programs that cater specifically to the needs of the complex senior. With a curriculum that includes exercise prescription, well care assessment, and long-term reconditioning programming, this workshop is poised to revolutionize how we support our seniors in maintaining their independence and vitality.

The first course, focusing on exercise prescription for the complex senior, is just the beginning. It promises to prepare participants to deliver services that align with their licenses while meeting the critical needs of seniors in a way that Part A and Part B coverage simply cannot. I'm calling on my fellow PTs, OTs, COTAs, and PTAs who share a passion for this work and are ready to step outside the confines of orthopedics and traditional therapy models.

00:00 Introduction of new specialty certificate

01:21 The need for well care for seniors in assisted living and independent living facilities

04:41 Increase in weakening and decline in senior population

05:11 Lack of well care programs in assisted living and independent living facilities

06:31 The role of PTs, PTAs, OTs, and OTAs in providing well care

07:01 Introduction of the exercise prescription for the complex senior

08:23 Addressing burnout and restrictions in insurance-based care

09:22 Simplifying the process of assessment and intervention

10:14 Learning objectives of the workshop

11:30 Qualifications and sign-up for the workshop

  • In today's episode, I share my journey from a traditional clinical PTA to becoming a top earner in 2024, focusing on how we can unlock our full potential in physical therapy. Despite the limitations set by insurance and conventional PT roles, I've spent over a decade finding ways for PTAs like myself to exceed these boundaries and better serve our patients.

Many of us feel restricted by insurance policies and are unaware of the full scope of our licenses. This lack of clarity hinders our ability to offer more comprehensive care. I've discovered that diving into areas like deconditioning cycles and preventative care reveals a disconnect between our training and the needs of those we serve.

To address this, I emphasize understanding the scope of our licenses and exploring opportunities in health, wellness, and fitness beyond traditional PT. I suggest using a specialized service to ensure compliance with state regulations, freeing us to focus on expanding our practices.

This episode also highlights the need to align our skills with consumer demands for wellness and prevention, pointing out the growing trend of assisted stretching studios and boutique fitness centers. I introduce the PTA Business Accelerator Program, designed to enhance our clinical skills, business knowledge, and connect us with a supportive community to fast-track our journey to becoming top earners.

Join me as we take steps to redefine our careers, increase our earning potential, and deliver more impactful care by breaking free from traditional constraints.
