When you think of consent who comes to mind? You probably are thinking about a teenager or a young people in their 20’s. The conversation around consent has focused largely on those in their sexually active years and we often fail to realise that this conversation needs to start a lot earlier. Today’s episode is a special one, it was the first episode we recorded, and it was also our launch episode! We came together as a community on zoom, and it was an incredible way to begin The Unlearning Project.

Women are angry and it isn’t hard to work out why. We are underpaid and overworked. Too sensitive or not sensitive enough. Too dowdy or too flashy. Too big or too thin. Sluts or prudes. We are harassed, told we are asking for it and challenged about whether it would kill us to smile.
Our rage is one of the most important resources we have, our sharpest tool against both personal and political oppression. We’ve been told for so long to bottle up our anger, letting it corrode our bodies and minds in ways we don’t even realise. Yet our anger is a vital instrument, a radar for injustice and catalyst for change.

During lockdown your internal dialogue has probably sounded a little something like this; "I haven't done enough today, I am so lazy and unmotivated, why aren't I using all this extra time I have to be more creative or to learn a new skill”. Essentially what you’re doing by having these thoughts is gaslighting yourself - because it’s not you, it’s covid.
