Michelle & Hazell chat with Specialist Pet Surgeon Stephen Martin.
Stephen graduated from University College Dublin in 2013, having previously attained a BSc(Hons) in Biochemistry from University College Cork. Following graduation, Stephen undertook a rotating internship in a large multi-disciplinary referral hospital in the northwest of the UK. He commenced as a resident in small animal surgery at University College Dublin in 2016, and completed his residency training in 2020, along with submission of his doctoral thesis on canine antebrachial biomechanics. He remained briefly at UCD as an assistant professor of small animal surgery, before joining the Veterinary Specialists Ireland team. He graduated his Doctoral Studies Degree (DVMS) and successfully completed his ECVS specialist board examinations in July 2021. He has particular interest in the field of trauma surgery, including fracture repair.
