  • This week Sam and Afam start the episode with some CMO news, PAVRISK retain the right to collect royalties, again. they also try to answer whether Kenyan art is important to its people and what they feel it will take for us to get positive news in this area (12:13). They then speculate on the whereabouts of rapper Kahu$h, and talk about his previous releases and influence on the Kenyan hiphop scene (21:06). American rapper Drake released 100 Gigs worth of content, and the boys discuss the move, as well as artists being slaves to their fans and the music labels they are signed to (37:55).

  • This week Sam and Afam get right into conversation about music nostalgia (07:07), they then discuss the ongoing squabble between two Kenyan music heavyweights Otile Brown and Bien with the latter apologising for some of his earlier comments aimed at Otile, or did he? (14:38). Chimano announces a new single and say he will be focusing on his solo career from now on (24:30). The boys then briefly talk about Fancy Fingers' importance in the now disbanded Sauti Sol (30:30).

    Grammys are coming up, Sam and Afam talk about who they feel may be eligible to win an award from the Kenyan music scene (34:05), also, Nigerian star Ruger had an awkward appearance on Citizen TVs 10 Over 10 featuring his impersonator Kenyan Ruger formerly (Ruger wa Kayole (41:00). Finally, they talk about artists and the negative effects of our expectations of them (48:00).

  • A lot has happened recently! In today's episode, Sam and Afam talk about the #RejectTheFinanceBill2024 protests as well as their different outcomes. They talk about the Kenyan governments response to the peoples demands, and highlight some key issues they have observed. The boys also briefly discuss the recent roundtable talk that featured the President, Eric Latiff, Linus Kaikai, and Joe Ageyo.

    This leads them to mention some of the people doing good with everything that is going on, as well as mention the possibilities of more protests in the coming week.

They then cover a few topics such as Rick Ross sending birthday wishes to Khaligraph Jones, Njeri announces that she will be taking a break from music, and Artists sharing their personal lives in their music for our entertainment (55:09).

KECOBO selected PAVRISK, formerly known as PRISK, to manage royalty collection among other things, a decision that is being contested by another CMO, KAMP. They argue that they have a better track record in distributing royalties to artists, and allege that PAVRISK have failed at that task. Furthermore they claim KECOBO is compromised because of their choice (07:30). Are artists getting their moneys worth? Is it profitable to invest in music if the returns are not sustaining the artist themselves Afam answers this questions on todays "Quick Thoughts" segment (25:30). Sam and Afam then pay their respects to the recent people we have lost in the music industry (37:20).

Kenyan artist Otile Brown declared that we have no international artists in Kenya, and former Sauti Sol member Bien said he doesn't want to be involved in such debates, he just wants to make music. That leads the boys into a conversation on what makes an international artist and why we may or may not have any currently (11:00). Also, American comedian Dave Chapelle quietly snuck into the country for a show (40:50).

The Kenya Film Classification Board recently announced that they will be requiring licenses for YouTubers as well as require them to send their videos for "examination" before they are posted on the platform. Sam and Afam talk about this and what it may mean for creatives, and question whether it is even practical in the first place (23:00). Arbantone hit maker Stoopid Boy, who has been in the news recently for beefing with media personalities, turns his aim at Willy Paul on Mungai Eve's Platform (35:26).
