I advise setting regular routines and leaning on friends and people who understand and can aid with depression. I recount my depression, including waking up depressed or terrified, and how puberty and medicines have changed it. I emphasize pacing daily tasks and the spoon hypothesis, which helps people with chronic illnesses or mental health disorders envision limited energy resources. I explain how depression affects education, employment, relationships, and self-care, as well as my perfectionism. I also discuss the constant medication modifications needed to balance emotions without dulling pleasurable experiences.
