In 2017, Ager Hasan committed a brutal murder in Canada and fled to the U.S. In an effort to evade extradition and prosecution, Hasan contacted the CIA and offered information on ISIS in exchange for his freedom. Before being sent to prison for his role in a murder-for-hire plot, the Tiger King, aka Joe Exotic, gave his animals to his associate, Jeff Lowe. Jeff and Lauren Lowe intended to open a zoo in Oklahoma, however, they failed every inspection conducted by the USDA. The agency noted the horrible conditions of both the proposed facility and the big cats themselves. Convinced the cats wouldn't get the nutrition or veterinary care they required, the Department of Justice initiated steps to rescue the tigers and send them to sanctuaries where they would receive appropriate care. Nothing about this rescue was easy, but Justice, the Marshals, and the Wild Animal Sanctuary among others, got the job done. Today we revisit one of the most devastating domestic terrorism attacks in U.S. history. On April 19th, 1995, Deputy Marshal Chuck McNeil was a first responder to the federal building and then two days later he was put in charge of Timothy McVeigh, the man who had just murdered 168 people, many of his friends among them. Marshal Johnny Kulman, now the Marshal of the Western District of Oklahoma, was only a few blocks away at 9:02am and rushed to the federal building to help rescue survivors. In an act of "divine intervention", Trooper Chuck Hanger arrested Timothy McVeigh on a routine traffic stop just 90 minutes after detonation. Don't miss this moving episode.
