  • The stigma behind acupuncture continues to push people away from the thought of being stuck with needles. In this conversation my personal acupuncturist, Justin Penoyer, and I sit down and walk through the ins and outs of a visit to an acupuncturist. In this conversation we discuss the process of an appointment, the science behind ancient Chinese medicine, and why it’s important to regulate your chi (blood flow) throughout your body.     A little bit about him is Dr. Justin Penoyer MS, LAc, DACM is a graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, earning his Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2009 and Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in 2016. Justin is originally from a small farming town along the Mississippi River in northwestern Illinois, where he earned a degree at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. Shortly after graduation, Justin experienced the traumatic injury that led to his discovery of acupuncture, which would play a significant role in his recovery from nerve damage. He ultimately came away with a deep respect for both needle therapy and the natural philosophy embedded within traditional Chinese medicine.
