Namsos kommune står foran store endringer i befolkningen. Det blir færre barn i skolealder og flere eldre med behov for tjenester. Fram mot 2029 ventes det 161 færre skoleelever og 182 flere innbyggere over 80 år.
Dette betyr at kommunen må bruke ressursene annerledes. Det er behov for å omprioritere rundt 24 millioner kroner fra skole til helse og omsorg. Uten endringer i skolestrukturen vil dette være vanskelig å få til.
Målet med arbeidet er å sikre et godt og likeverdig skoletilbud, samtidig som ressursene brukes mer bærekraftig. Kommunen har derfor lagt fram flere mulige løsninger og inviterer innbyggere, elever og foresatte til å komme med innspill før en politisk beslutning tas.
