  • ✨NEW STBT FEED✨
It’s been a year of vulnerability, learning, and finding strength in unexpected places. This episode marks a pause in our podcast journey – a brief intermission of Spill the Baby Tea as we gear up for an exciting year ahead. I want to thank each and every one of you for joining me on this journey. Your support means the world to me (I mean, seriously, corporate Helen can not even fathom having her own podcast that YOU ALL tune in to!!!) Truly, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU :)
In today’s episode, I’m taking a moment to reflect on the unforgettable journey that 2024 has been—its highs, its lows, and everything in between. From the bittersweet joy of my son turning three to the transformative trips and milestones with family, this year has been one of growth, challenges, and unexpected lessons. I dive into how motherhood has reshaped my drive and priorities, and how the experience continues to evolve my outlook on life.
As we close the chapter on this year together, I invite you to reflect with me—to celebrate how far we’ve come, to honor the lessons learned, and to embrace the journey ahead.

  • Get ready for a trip down memory lane with my longtime friend Taylor Chan! You probably know Taylor from Wong Fu Productions, but what you might not know is that we go way back—to the lecture halls of UC San Diego. Taylor isn’t just a talented creator; he’s also my longest-standing friend in this wild world of digital media.

In this episode, we’re spilling behind-the-scenes stories, reliving our college antics, and reflecting on how our friendship has evolved over the years. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to grow alongside someone in both life and career, this one’s for you. Let’s celebrate history, humor, and a friendship that’s still going strong!

  • It’s been a while since we’ve done a Q&A on the podcast, and since this is one of the last episodes of the year (!!) we thought this would be a perfect time to catch-up and answer some questions from our listeners! We’re curious about some of these too: Does Mel still want to move to Taiwan? How does Helen get her hair to look perfectly curled? Do we ever compare our SOs to other people’s SOs? And what’s next for ABG?

  • I recently went through a breakup, again. Heartbreak is never easy, and when you're dating with the intention to find your life partner while trying to beat a biological clock, it involves a new level of hurt, grief, and sense of urgency to move on. How do we know when we've healed? How do we approach asking for support from friends and family? How can we focus on hope when all we want to do is be angry and negative? I talk about all of this and more in this episode.

  • When you’re planning to get married, the legal side of the process can be potentially intimidating and uncomfortable to discuss with your partner. After all, you never want to go into a marriage thinking that it’s going to end. At the same time, it’s important to know what happens on the legal side when you sign those papers, to read the fine print just like you would for any other contract. So today, we’ve brought on family law attorney Alex Payne to answer as many questions as we could think of, so you can get a jump start on your research. Is it best to keep your finances joint or separate? How does social media play a role in divorce proceedings? And the big question everyone always wonders - should you get a prenup??

  • Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at ABG! We’re so grateful to each and every listener for watching us grow over 300 episodes - and what a perfect opportunity to look back on one of our favorite episodes. Now that we’re in our mid/late 30’s, we thought it’d be fun to revisit this time in our lives and get some advice from our past selves. From changing hangover routines to being kind to yourself, these lessons are still applicable no matter which stage of the 30’s you are currently navigating.

  • Tech companies are a notoriously male-dominated space, but today’s guest has become a voice for Asian American women in that industry. Chloe Shih began her creator journey offering resources and advice to others working in tech. Since then, she’s been honing her personal aesthetic with great success. Earlier this year, she went viral after sharing about her layoff from Discord. Now “starting over” in her 30s and walking the fine line between tech and creative work, Chloe has inspired us with her intentional approach to content creation.  We’re so excited to chat with Chloe about balancing dual careers, her new podcast JOMO, and why she chose to cut watermelon in her videos.

  • How am I really doing in NYC?
Eight months in, and it’s time to get real about life in New York. I’ve shared glimpses of my excitement about the city, but behind the scenes, it’s been… different. I didn’t think moving here would feel this lonely, but leaving behind a tight-knit group of friends and adjusting to new rhythms has been harder than I ever expected. It’s tough to admit, but this might be the loneliest I’ve ever felt.
In this episode, I’m opening up about what it’s really been like—navigating big-city life, missing familiar faces, and learning that making new friends as an adult isn’t as easy as it sounds. Sometimes, I find myself wishing for just one effortless conversation with people who know me. Between spending days mostly alone and feeling the weight of vulnerability fatigue, it’s been a rollercoaster. I’m still figuring it out, and I hope sharing this helps anyone else feeling a little out of place to know you’re not alone.
So, let’s get into it: the highs, the lows, and the in-between moments of finding myself in NYC.

  • After going through a significant breakup, it can be difficult to get back into dating. Opening yourself up to new people and experiences might be intimidating, or you might even find that you have new priorities. But if you’re ready to start dating again, it’s always good to reflect on the positives & negatives of your previous relationship to see what you’d like to look for in the next one. Today, Janet is sharing her personal perspective on this topic, as someone who has started dating again after a pretty big breakup, and opening up about a key relationship that defined her last year. She also talks about why she’s given herself permission to take dating at her own pace, and offers some advice to anyone else who may be healing after breakups.

  • In this episode of Spill the Baby Tea, I’m taking you behind the scenes of my career journey—from my early days as a valuation manager at Ernst & Young to the big, scary leap into content creation and podcasting. Many of you might be navigating big life or career transitions yourself, or wondering what it's really like to follow a passion outside of the corporate world. I’ll be sharing the highs and lows of both paths: the perks and pressures of working for a global firm, the hard truths about climbing the ladder, and why I ultimately walked away to create something of my own. I also share in this episode some real talk on financial preparedness and advice for making a successful transition. Let’s dive into the path less traveled, and find out if becoming a content creator is as dreamy as it sounds ;)AsianBossGirl’s latest Instagram post for comments/interactions, linked here. #SpillTheBabyTeaBecome an ABG Bestie to get new audio episodes ad-free, monthly “Dear ABG” AMA sessions, discounts on merch, and shout-outs in our episodes. https://abg.supercast.com/ __________________________________________Host: Helen WuEditor: Victoria Cheng__________________________________________P A R T N E R S• Wild: Use code “ABG20” for 20% off your first order at WeAreWild.com/US • Pampers: Check out Pampers Cruisers 360 today!• BetterHelp: Get 10% off your first month with code “ABG” at betterhelp.com/ABG__________________________________________C O N N E C T W I T H U S• Subscribe and Follow us @asianbossgirl on Apple Podcasts/Spotify/Amazon Music/YouTube/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook• Listener Survey: Let us know your thoughts on the podcast here• Email: [email protected]__________________________________________S U P P O R T U S• Merch: asianbossgirl.myshopify.com• Donate: anchor.fm/asianbossgirl/support• More about us at asianbossgirl.comLearn more about your ad choices. • Remi Cruz has been a queen of content creation before it was even considered a job. Since her start as a vlogger on YouTube, she has grown her audience to millions of subscribers across two channels, on top of two podcasts: Pretty Basic and Basically Unfiltered. Lana Del Rey even gave her a shout-out as one of her favorite vloggers! And that is well-deserved praise; Remi’s bright personality makes her feel like she could be anyone’s best friend. We’re so excited to have Remi on the podcast to talk about how she juggles it all, what she’s learned about self-love over the years, and if there’s anything she’d want to do differently.

  • One of the biggest challengers to living in the present moment are digital distractions. The advancement of consumer technology has resulted in a lot of habits and behaviors that are detrimental to our health - negative effects on our brains, our ability to focus, our ideas about ourselves, and the quality of our social skills and relationships which have resulted in a loneliness epidemic.

In this episode, I chat with Palak Dave, Founder and CEO of Embiria – a movement and membership community designed to help people slow down and savor life, about this very issue. • 10 step skincare routines are pretty well-known nowadays, but when Ava Lee started making beauty & wellness content, items like toner and serums were a mystery to many people. Since then, she’s taught us all which products are the best to buy when traveling, how your gut health is related to skin health, and how you can achieve her iconic #JELLOSKIN from the inside out. Not only is she an absolute boss in the beauty world now, but Ava was an investment banker before jumping into content creation. We’re so excited to learn more about Ava’s Korean and Chinese roots, her 3 must-have products, and future plans for her brand, byAVA.

  • In this episode, I’m diving deep into a relationship that’s been central to my life for almost 8 years—my friendship with my roommate, Dar. If you’ve listened to earlier episodes, you’ll know why I chose to live with a roommate, but today, I want to explore who that roommate is and how we became each other’s home away from home.
From our origin story to the pivotal moments that shaped our bond, I’ll be sharing the journey of how Dar and I went from mutual friends to an unbreakable duo. We’re still actively grieving after moving apart, and honestly, I cry in this one, but it’s a story worth sharing. Tune in as I reflect on this deeply meaningful friendship and what it’s meant to me over the years.

  • You might be familiar with the satisfying feeling of crossing something off your to-do list. Or maybe you’re someone who keeps a mental checklist of tasks in your head (very impressive). As business owners, partners, and friends, we have a lot of different sectors of life to keep track of. From to-do lists, to Google calendars, to alarms, what are our lifelines for staying on top of things? Is it difficult to align planning styles with significant others? And what are the tasks that we keep hitting snooze on?

  • In this episode of Spill the Baby Tea, I’m diving into one of the most challenging yet essential aspects of parenting—discipline. As my own 2 (almost 3) year-old toddler reaches that age where boundaries and lessons are really starting to push my buttons! I’ve been exploring the best ways to approach discipline that feel supportive, nurturing, and effective. When do we start disciplining our little ones, and how do we do it in a way that feels right for our families? From positive discipline to time-ins, natural consequences, and setting clear but compassionate boundaries, I did the research so you don't have to. We’ll talk about how to stay calm (even when it’s really hard!) and teach our kids important lessons in a loving, gentle way. If you’re navigating this phase or just getting ready for it, I hope this episode offers some helpful tips and encouragement
