Our journey through the V/H/S series continues with one of the high points-- V/H/S 2! Is the legendary "Safe Haven" segment still as good over a decade later? What exactly is the mythology behind all of these tapes? Should this movie actually be called SD CARD? All of this and more on this week's episode!

No modern horror anthology looms as large as V/H/S, so we're embarking on an epic journey through every single film! We'll be interviewing as many of the filmmakers involved as we can. Along the way we'll also intersperse other episodes because this is truly going to be a whole side show of its own. Some of these episodes will probably be Patreon-exclusive but once again that Patreon is completely free! You just gotta join!!!

In 1997 Robert Bella was the toast of Sundance with his debut film COLIN FITZ LIVES! He was followed around the fest by the TV show 48 Hours, who thought he might be The Next Big Thing. But when he struggled to make his second film, he stumbled into the world of post-production supervising, eventually working for Steven Spielberg. Then he walked away from it all to chase his dream of being a TV writer, eventually getting staffed on several shows. And THEN he became a tv director. And THEN he's been transitioning all the way back to indie film. Robert's journey is both inspiring and a fascinating portrait of the film industry over the years!

When you're working on a low budget indie and looking to cut costs, the role of script supervisor is often the first one eliminated. But GRIND script supervisor Alexandria Perez is here to say STOP-- don't do that!! We take a deep dive into what a scripty does and why they're essential when making your film.

This might be one of our favorite episodes ever as editor Jeff Betancourt (HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE, THE GRUDGE, one of Brea's GRIND segments!) tells us about his career journey and answers all of our questions about editing. Seriously, this episode is educational!!!

Showrunners Francesco and John tell us all about how they adapted the stories from r/nosleep into a tonally cohesive anthology we think you'll love. How did they track down the authors? How did they raise the financing? How did they deal with the logistics? Who among us is the most addicted to reddit? All of this and more on this week's episode!

What happens when you cram five filmmakers into the bedroom of Ed's airbnb at Fantastic Fest because the rest of the house is too echoey?!! Anthony Cousins and Rebecca Daugherty, co-directors of Fantastic Fest World Premiere THE LAST THING SHE SAW, and Steven Hugh Nelson, writer/director of the upcoming OLD WOUNDS, join us as we run through every single movie we saw in Austin this past weekend. What were our favorite films? Which films...weren't? And-- Anthony and Becca tells us all about their experience premiering at the festival while everyone (except Ed) struggle not to pour wine on the white comforter.

Old Chief Wood'nhead. The Lake Blob. The Extremely Persistent Hitchhiker. This is the second podcast we've done on this movie for both of us, and I swear I know these villains better than I know my own family. This anthology isn't perfect, but there's a lot to like-- namely the much-praised "The Raft", which many consider the best Creepshow segment overall. This is an interesting anthology for us to dissect cause the flaws are very very obvious. Will we learn from (checks notes) Michael Gornick's mistakes?!?! Ed's back to tell Brea how Frightfest went. We also discuss post, what we've been watching lately, the rest of MLM's fest run, and songs you associate with production. Tbh this is a pretty loose episode, don't hold it against us! Theme song by Matt Glass (@glassbrain), Artwork by Felipe Sobreiro

Brea and Ed talk to Eric Stolze about his writing process, helping to craft the world of GRIND, being a background actor, and how to write while you still have a day job.
Plus, we all talk about the worst notes we've ever received on a screenplay.

They ducked this one for centuries, but now it is finally time to talk about the movie-- what went right, what went wrong, and everything in between! There will be funny stories, controversial statements, interpersonal conflict, and tips and tricks for becoming a better director! OK maybe I'm overselling it but we do tell stories here we won't be telling at any Q&A so tune in for this episode of anthology (anthology).Theme song by Matt Glass (@glassbrain), Artwork by Felipe Sobreiro

Brea and Ed finally reunite! But we're not ready to talk about the shoot yet-- so instead we discuss CREEPSHOW (1982)! Did you know this is the most successful anthology of all time (in terms of theatrical box office, anyway)? Should topping this be our aspirational target with GRIND?! Why doesn't Father's Day hit like the rest of them? Is the The Crate the best segment by far? Is Stephen King one of the great comedic actors of our time? Who wants cake more? All of these questions will be answered in today's episode! Theme song by Matt Glass (@glassbrain), Artwork by Felipe Sobreiro
