A well known tale for Storytellers but probably not so well known by casual audiences, its a little gem though. This story of a Tailor and his Wife is perfectly Irish, theres a wit to it and a dark edge that generates an uncomfortable giggle. The kind of feeling you want to share with the right people, told in the right setting or in a hushed tone. You may feel guilty for liking it, but only if you're a good person!

A Wolf Story, but in terms of Irish stories, not THE Wolf Story, no that is the Beast of Ossary. This tale is in so many ways far better. I'm sitting here uploading this on the night of the March Full Moon ... a perfect time for a dark tale of wickedness and peril! Sometimes its worth digging a little deeper and questioning why we believe the things we do, why looking for the worst in others is often just a way to avoid looking inwards.

Its time for another story and this time we have an 19th century Irish Folktale classic. The Fairy Dance is the story of a beautiful young lady who literally stumbles across an otherworldly gathering while making her way home one dark night.

Technically the 13th Episode and the first one of the dark half of the year but its not like I need an excuse to tell a dark and creepy story! Like with this story sometimes life (or the after life in this case) steps in to show us the errors of our ways .... sometimes bad people do things and theres no consequences ... but being a Storyteller we get to direct the characters and decide their faith.
As always, please enjoy and share. If you would like to support of give feedback just check out my Instagram or TikTok (BeardedBadgerStorytelling) for more details. Sweet Dreams.

On this Episode its time to stick a toe into some Mythology and lets start with an old Irish favourite with the story of the boy Setanta. I could talk all night about my crazy ideas around this complicated young man (?) but thats more suited to a live or in person conversation.
So with that in mind, is anyone interested in an online LIVE storytelling session? Drop me a message and let me know!
As always, please enjoy and share. You can find me on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Tiktok. Take care and be kind.

On this Episode I take a look at The Lady of Gollerus, a story included in the collect of Thomas Crofton Croker (the swine). I never use a script for this story and honestly i dont think I'm even capable of telling it the same way twice. I talk after the story portion of the podcast about some of my concerns with the story and some issues it brings up that are so relevant in the world we live in today.
As always, please enjoy and share. You can find me on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Tiktok. Take care and be kind.

Its time for another episode and another story! Taking a side step this time with a story I have enjoyed listening too but its not one I tell outside of working with other Storytellers! The Hag of the One Horn is what I end up referring to it as but Lady Wilde wrote it down around 1888 as "The Twelve Horned Women". Its a fireside tale, more for at home than a social setting, or maybe thats just how I see it. I'd love to know what you think?
