And, in 2022, with the brand mission to “Carry On,” Thread expanded its footprint with a non-profit arm called the Carry On Foundation. Co-Founder Colby Bauer joins us with more.

    Colby Bauer:
At Thread our slogan is “Carry On,” which is a nod to the carry accessories that we sell, but it also represents our narrative of continual progression and the ability to overcome adversity.

With this in mind, we created our non-profit called the Carry On Foundation. Our mission at Carry On is to utilize action sports and outdoor recreation to teach youth resilience skills, and to promote mental health. To help them develop confidence, competence, connections and character.

The curriculum we developed integrates mental health skills with level-based learning for sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, and outdoor recreation.

And we measure the effectiveness of our programs through level-based goals because we know that increased competence in a physical domain leads to increased confidence. And, in time, through practice, this will also help them develop strength of mind and character.

For anyone who wants to get involved with Carry on Foundation, we would absolutely love for you to join us.

    Derek Miller:
The Carry On Foundation recognizes the demands placed on our youth in today’s culture, and is here to help teach the mental skills necessary to persevere. To learn more, visit carryon.org. I’m Derek Miller with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business.

Founder and Executive Director John Renouard joins us with more.

    John Renouard:
So in 2010, I was on vacation in Africa when I saw these young girls missing school because they were forced to walk miles to fetch water for their families. I knew I had to do something, so I created the non-profit WHOlives.

Today, WHOlives is excited about our newest innovation, the Village Drill Hybrid, an electric drill that’s even stronger and drills faster!

But we now have way more requests for water than we have funds, so WHOlives is looking for businesses and even individuals to join with us to make a difference.

Rather, we are a deliberate community where members — not clients — are seen for their talents, strengths and abilities.

At Alliance House, we help members complete educational goals, develop necessary work skills to return to productive employment in the community, and even secure affordable housing.

    Lisa Vinson:
Vinson Home Inspections is an award-winning company that provides homebuyers with high quality inspections so they don’t get stuck with unpleasant surprises once they move into their home.
